So what we can do is help you get a new computer or a server that can do the job for years to come. GR has 400k subscribers but lets say 200k are active accounts. If we all chip in £1 that will be £200k for a computer. That's a huge amount of money, but you could have a Threadripper in the computer. 64 cores? 512 Gb ram........ And what about a 4090 grafix card?
Thank you Cap. I can fully sympathize with you computer limitations. My gaming rig finally said "I have had enough" and died. My new rig will be ready within a week. I pray I have funds for food and fuel. I will be fine, unless something happens. Good luck to you and all GR.
24:24 you can see one of the missiles that got through actually "hit" the water (or missed by hitting water, not target)... so technically only 3 got through.
I've only recently gotten into building missions and learning the mission editor. Needless to say that this is very impressive. Leave it to Cap to set the damn standard!
Hey cap, recent information leaked from the ZhuHai air show where the J-35 was introduced for the first time suggests that it’s RCS is lower than all of the current 5th gen fighters. Please check this information and correct the stats if right.
I have fallen in love with these simulations, but I REALLY enjoy your missionslike the viggen mission on the sub pens... love seeing the aircraft do work its super fun
CVN 73 USS George Washington is enroute to Japan as we speak to be the new foward deployed Carrier with a squad of F 35Cs on board.....Funny how after the Regan left, then the Chinese.. started war games around Tawian....great job Cap!..👉🏻👉🏻
Kadena used to have a squadron of KC135s. they could be put into a racetrack east of Japan so that Okinawa planes could burn into combat. Also northern planes burn south and land to refuel and take off again. Use spawning to simulate this.
Small correction: while all significantly less capable then the massive 10.000 Ton Japanese AEGIS Destroyers, of the Atago, Kongo and Maya class, all the other Japanese Destroyers are also relative modern and capable guided Missile Destroyers. In the Japanese Fleet the Izumos, the Hyugas, the Kongos, the Atagos and Mayas serve as capital ships and the smaller DDGs, like the related Akizuki and Asahi classes (which are very modern and more capable then most other navies destroyers) and the older also related Takanami and Murasame classes serve as escorts, primarily ASW escorts. Basicly the Japanese use full on DDGs in the role of a frigate. And their Aegis Destroyers aren't just the size of a cruiser, but also take the role of one.
Hey 👋 Cap, 42:15 Couldn’t you just write a script that when planes run out of missiles that they just de-spawn? This would have two clear and maybe small sub-benefits benefits; 1. Clear up your server; & 2. Preserve the $$$ custom cost counter. As in real life, F-35’s, or any other plane, won’t just aimlessly fly into oblivion. This can be achieved without the CPU loss. Thoughts??? 💭 Hope you get that new PC my friend. David,
This video reinforces how important it is to place the best fighters in the right places geographically - closer to likely attack approaches. Having at least some F22s, F35s and F15EXs front loaded near Sasebo, Taiwan, and Okinawa is important. Also, placement of the DDGs is critical to blunt any attack. Lastly, forward basing the AWACs makes a difference, since it increases detection and response time. There are drawbacks to all of these decisions, but benefits as well. Lastly, I wonder if anyone is working on high altitude balloons with early warning radar, for placement over places like Sasebo, Okinawa and Taiwan. They would be vulnerable, but could give very early detection notice, which is a game changer. Even 15-30 minutes matters a lot.
Thanks for the video once again Cap. ❤ While watching this, it strikes me that, yes, of course we all know DCS AI and in particular AI BVR is pretty bad. However, the AI disadvantage may impact the defenders even more, as the defenders with these distances involved have the natural advantage and human pilots and human commanders have better methods to leverage this. Meanwhile, the Chinese side in this type of scenario doesn't really have any special trick when comparing DCS vs. real world. In both cases, they would have to essentially charge in with limited tactical options if they want to have any sort of success, or just turn around and call it a defeat after firing off all those missiles. In a real world scenario, the flight commanders would prevent those F-2's from charging at J-20's (as they'd typically die with little advantageous impact, better to draw the J-20's closer to your home base or 5th-gen allies). The blue forces in general would most likely leverage their IADS net with Patriot and the ships in-support (meaning the F-35's may flank/charge/probe at certain points in the battle, but in general, there's no reason to charge right down the center hundreds of NM's away from your home base). Even if you take all of that out of consideration, I'd still call it a total blue victory at about 45:30. Looking at the map at that point, red is basically well off the island; they don't have a fuel advantage to continue charging forward and getting in prolonged battles in the middle of the sea. Blue has the advantage of turning home to refuel and rearm, with cover from their IADS as they tactically retreat. Per my point above, I'd be willing to bet F-2 losses would be well under the 26 at 45:30, and the ten F-35 losses are inflated by the initial wave that ran out of weapons and are flying around to get picked off per limited CPU resources. Meanwhile, they're down to just three J-20's remaining, and the F-22's, more F-35's, and the F-18 carrier air wing (plus Growlers with EW pods and AMRAAMS if it weren't DCS-limited) are still on their way to replace the current fighters in the front who would ideally turn back home at this point. Without the J-20 support, the J-16's and their friends would be put away with relative ease. Finally, I believe you said North Korea was occupying South Korea for this scenario? Even if that's the case, I bet they wouldn't react kindly to China being so close to their southern border and territorial waters all while attacking their US ally, so I think you'd likely have some South Korean ships and aircraft in support. Not to mention, the US has quite the presence in South Korea, so a Patriot battery would likely be in that area. That's the game right there in my mind.
I wonder if those F-35s that turned around had gone to afterburner to rush into the fight, and when the line got pushed back so much, they calculated they no longer had the range to reach it.
Here's an idea cap, run the CPU at 50% speed, but play back the recorded video at 2x speed, thus the result will be the battle playing at normal speed? Then you can commentate as normal, if that all makes sense.... 😂
Cap, I just wanted to say I really enjoy your video’s and I hope you can keep making them. I was wondering about the awacs issue - I would have thought you would get datalink from the forward facing fighters? Does datalink not work like that in game?
You should update the scoreboard so you have on the weapons [fired/expended] / [detonated] / [missed/intercepted/self-destructed] So if you want to you can see the “simulated” %PK by [detonated] / [fired/expended] * 100 … or better yet have it as an “indicated %PK” on the scoreboard.
Some insider info for you: George Washington has met up with 7th Fleet as of August and is on patrol in the west Pacific. Reagan is officially in Bremerton, Washington for maintenance. No news source, but I have friends currently on that deployment (I used to work on the Washington, left just before they left Virginia)
Random question ? can't you just despawn the fighter Jets once they have run out of missile's. Just like you do to the Bombers after they have fired the ballistic missile's. That would save your PC from overstressing so badly, with these huge epic battles you have.
@@johnwolf2829 🤔 yeah didn't think about that. but I have never played dcs, I would love to. So not sure if that would erase there kills. Do you play dcs?

Cap, this battle is taking place in 2024, right? I believe the F-35s (both A & C variants) do NOT have the sidekick upgrade as of 2024. It would make more sense for the F/A-18s to be strapped with AIM-174Bs.
I have a question, sir. Can you Daisy-chain your older computer would the new computer you plan on acquiring? In doing so, will doing that increase your computing power? This caveman is curious to know.
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul yeah...I ran into one of the resident computer gurus almost immediately after I asked the question and he gave me somewhat the same answer by saying daisy chaining doesn't increase computing power or efficiency.
@@grimreapers yeah, but do more cores actually help? And is it just a CPU issue, or perhaps also one more RAM could help (i.e. not only performance but also resource-bound)? So if multicore works for dcs, perhaps switching to an hedt or server processor like a threadripper or epyc (or xeon) might help. I reiterate, there's lots of people who have the knowledge of hw and resources to help you if you approach them. L1 and gamers Nexus appear friendly in their videos, approaching then might make it for great videos for them and you, and perhaps lead to them making a system for you that would rub like a charm.

It doesn't make sense any J-7 or JH-7s in an air war. The J-7s are retired already or turned into unmanned drones. The JH-7 are only armed with short ranged AAM and only used for anti-shipping. They should really be replaced with J-10Cs which have replaced the J-7s and would actually be used in their place in a scenario like this.

Cap i would like to do a study on one of these campaigns. I would like to compare the experience and flight expertise and training of US pilots being assumed superior to the training and experience of Chinese fighters and see how to try to account for said discrepancy in an already ran scenario. Whether its this or the Taiwan or just a Carrier vs Carrier group. I think we all know the avg US Naval or Airforce fighter Pilot receives more training and flight hours to earn their wings and maintain readiness training levels per year are also better. We also know that US Pilots have most likely given the past wars have more real-life experience & their training scenarios are greater in scale and are more realistic to modern air-to-air combat scenarios. I think these scenarios for fairness try to allow for China and US Pilots marked at the same level but I think it would be interesting to see how big of an impact pilot skill is. Like one scenario have all pilots on Vetern skill then have the next with the tip of the spear US Pilots are Ace's then the rest be the next best level. While the Chinese have no Aces and have their bulk near the lowest skill level. Correct me if I am wrong but there are 4 levels to Skill and the US should have 20% at Level 4, 60% at Level 3 and say the remainder 20% being the younger new recruits at the 2nd skill level. Then China has less training, fewer flight hours, and less real-world experience, to have 20% level 3, 30% level 2 and the rest being very inexperienced 50% level 1 skill. I would also say it would make sense to put the better pilots in the better aircraft aka the Ace US Pilots would be flying the F-22s if available and maybe a few on the F-35s. The rest of the 35 and half the 18/15/16's would be level 3 and have the last to engage 4th gen be the 20% level 2. Then for China, the J-20s would have all their level 3 skill and the rest of them would be level 2 and all the 4th gen would have level 1 skill.
This was one absolutely amazing great fight they spit the enemy into to a triple prong attack so they made it so much more challenging for any attack. DCnewcoach ❤😊😊
Is it possible to scale down the battles by like half but allow winchester planes to land? I feel like the losses count is unusable for anything let alone to determine a winner because it will always be around 50/50 if they all no retreat.
The winner is whoever can recover materially to keep fighting. Without massive sabotage of chinese manufacturing it would seem they have a material advantage
I think a bigger issue would be having trained, especially combat-experienced pilots. China could pump out a lot of aircraft, but how many work as advertised (cheap/broken/overrated), how many hours flight time do the pilots have, etc. The U.S. military I think would have a massive advantage in chain of command, combat experience, supply, logistics, etc. China would be able to mount a modest first wave, but once the bulk of their combat-ready air force and navy is wasted, they'll start throwing untrained soldiers into battle. Where the U S. would be up against the wall is more in terms of willpower. The American people didn't have the stomach for Iraq and Afghanistan, which had only roughly 5k casualties in 20 years. A full-scale war vs China could easily have 5k casualties a month or a week. The US lost 14k troops on Okinawa in 2-3 months. Losing a Ford carrier or losing 40 F-35s would be a massive hit to the U.S. morale. Would Americans be okay with continuing a war with China over an island 7,000 miles away? China on the other hand could lose 2 million soldiers or 10 million civilians and won't bat an eye. China lost roughly 10 million people in their civil war and 20 million people in their war against Japan, then not even a decade later fought in Korea and lost near half a million more. They didn't quit. So the U.S. crushing China in one battle or twenty battles won't really determine the result. Would the American people be willing to lose 400k troops to launch a ground invasion of China? Would they support a war even if we lose a couple aircraft carriers? Would we immediately put 250k troops on Taiwan to defend them, or would we hope one or two aircraft carrier battle groups in the area would deter China? If we try to defend China like we have Ukraine, I think China wins. The U.S. would need to go into wartime economy, put 200k troops on Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines, would need to start pumping out more Ford carriers about every 1-2 years.
@@shaunholt Except we wouldn't have to do any of that. America's military is built to end things quickly. Strike hard, fast, and diminish the enemy's ability to keep contesting in any meaningful way. Once China's entire Airforce and Navy is zero'd in the first few battles, we would move on to the Chinese mainland and start zero'ing their factories and shipyards with B-2s and B-21s + F-35s with Stealth Drones. China would not be able to manufacture new planes and warships in time to keep things going, and once the U.S. establishes control of an area, it is IMPOSSIBLE to push them out, even if China is allowed to keep building things which they wouldn't. We would completely diminish industrial capacity as well as blockade their shipping routes and deny them the ability to get new materials and electronics for construction. The war would be over swiftly. An indisputable American Victory. People think this war would be close, it would not be..
@@ObiWanShinobi917 there's not a rats chance in hell we'd invade mainland china. We don't even have enough missiles to contend with the air force or navy. We're ramping up drone production as a stop gap but frankly, nothing is stopping China from doing the exact same with greater numbers. I'd say its a result of the short-sighted and foolish efforts to move all of the world's manufacturing to china for short term profit since the 90s, however I still think it was always the elite's intention. they wanted to prop up china up as the puppet of the 21st century of totalitarian capitalism. The fact the 1989 tiennamen square massacre was swept under the rug in 2 months shows how deep china has had their roots in our governments way back in 1989. No doubt it has expanded since then.

big kudos for putting together these giganto battles - everyone familiar with the mission editor knows how painful and time consuming this process can be - not to mention using heavily modded assets, that's some mad skills !
thx
I see no issue with your slowing the busy battles down. No upgrade needed imo.
It's the main advantage of single player over multiplayer, I can slow it down like this.
I have never down thumb you , let me tell you why, you and the Humans make a huge effort to do a show that I enjoy, whether the result please me or not, I appreciate your effort, I even watched your Vulcan bomber run down to the Falklands, sterling effort all to please other people, Many Thank
That seems like a lot of PLAAF aircraft being able to just fly through Korean airspace.
I mean in real life jets from South Korea will also enter the fight for this reason but if that happens the Chinese stand no chance

Yeh this was a REAL bitch to get working I can tell you.
I hope you can maintain Grim Reapers, I really enjoy it.

Whatever happens in the future just remember how much you've helped so many people over the years.
From ex service to just a person that needed some company, you've done a great job.

24:24 you can see one of the missiles that got through actually "hit" the water (or missed by hitting water, not target)... so technically only 3 got through.
You missed the submarine underwater lol
Well spotted!
No that was a interceptor that was lead chasing a missile. You can see it going backwards in the map few and can see the smoke trail...

I was in Norfolk VA during July 4th weekend in 1991 on a family vacation. We went to the shipyard to see the Arleigh Burke being commissioned.
So it looks like theres no comms vetween F35 and other planes, sending targeting data?
Most likely not modeled by dcs?
Yes they are not linked properly to the other planes in the sim.
Hey cap, recent information leaked from the ZhuHai air show where the J-35 was introduced for the first time suggests that it’s RCS is lower than all of the current 5th gen fighters. Please check this information and correct the stats if right.
I have fallen in love with these simulations, but I REALLY enjoy your missionslike the viggen mission on the sub pens... love seeing the aircraft do work its super fun
just FYI the newer Sm6 block 2 B is coming soon. It's hypersonic and has even greater range than block2A.
I wonder if there's a way to automatically keep track of assets that were shot down/culled for CPU capacity, so as not to count as a loss.
CVN 73 USS George Washington is enroute to Japan as we speak to be the new foward deployed Carrier with a squad of F 35Cs on board.....Funny how after the Regan left, then the Chinese.. started war games around Tawian....great job Cap!..👉🏻👉🏻
Yeah, the timetable was getting close. The last I saw was the Reagan was on their final patrol before they would be routed back to their new homeport.
Kadena used to have a squadron of KC135s. they could be put into a racetrack east of Japan so that Okinawa planes could burn into combat. Also northern planes burn south and land to refuel and take off again. Use spawning to simulate this.
Absolutely fantastic video! Great work on this. Thanks for the enjoyment.
Watching this at 0144 and there's a four-blade heli bumbling about. Bet the neighbours are chuffed. [Edit - buggered off at 0206]
Small correction: while all significantly less capable then the massive 10.000 Ton Japanese AEGIS Destroyers, of the Atago, Kongo and Maya class, all the other Japanese Destroyers are also relative modern and capable guided Missile Destroyers.
Amazing video and detailed analysis of forces, Cap! One small point. The USMC has no ships. The USS America and the LPD/Ss are all Navy ships.
Have you explored running these sims on AWS servers?
Tried two different ones but it just did not work, they just freeze up for me.
Hey 👋 Cap,
42:15
Couldn’t you just write a script that when planes run out of missiles that they just de-spawn?
This would have two clear and maybe small sub-benefits benefits;
1. Clear up your server; &
2. Preserve the $$$ custom cost counter. As in real life, F-35’s, or any other plane, won’t just aimlessly fly into oblivion. This can be achieved without the CPU loss.
Thoughts??? 💭
Hope you get that new PC my friend.

Interesting sim. When you get more processing power, you should add in the USAF aircraft in Kprea, they're much closer than Kadena.
loved it thanks for making it
I would love to hear HLC narrate with voices.
are the Raptors late due to the fuel issue?
No, TBH I just set their cruise too slow. Mach 0.9. I should have set to 1.2. Hard to know until you run it.
While watching this, it strikes me that, yes, of course we all know DCS AI and in particular AI BVR is pretty bad.
Yeh a few people have asked for this but there is a tech issue that I can't really explain in text.
Cap, I just wanted to say I really enjoy your video’s and I hope you can keep making them. Keep up the good work and I look forward to all your new uploads! 🍻
Edit: by the way you have an excellent voice for these kind of video’s. Besides the heaps of work you put into these video’s, your voice naturally ads alot to it. Wish you the best.
I was wondering about the awacs issue - I would have thought you would get datalink from the forward facing fighters? Does datalink not work like that in game?
You should update the scoreboard so you have on the weapons [fired/expended] / [detonated] / [missed/intercepted/self-destructed]
So if you want to you can see the “simulated” %PK by [detonated] / [fired/expended] * 100 … or better yet have it as an “indicated %PK” on the scoreboard.
Was thinking same, but would that also erase kills made by the de-spawned one?
@@johnwolf2829 🤔 yeah didn't think about that. but I have never played dcs, I would love to. So not sure if that would erase there kills. Do you play dcs?
Will investigate but they way DCS works may simply be too much work as each planes would have to be programmed separately like this. Would take days...

@@joshua35619I myself do play DCS, and what cap replied is basically the only way I myself would know how to remove those assets individually. And yeah that's a whole lot of programming for what you're getting back in return. And by that I mean what cap would get out of it. He's likely to spend 30 plus hours doing that kind of programming, and what little Revenue he gets from RUclips would not even begin to cover the cost of the time put in
Try using engage in zone with an orbit set. Seems it's just those F-35s having the issue.
I've tried it before but I just cant get it to work, I think it's just a problem with the modern planes.
This with aim-174? Great video!
20 minutes of breifing...Worth it.
Worth the Like just for Cap playing Hit or Miss :)
Of course the Super Bogs made it into combat without running out of fuel. They're powered by fuel-sipping Ford EcoBoost engines.
Cap, this battle is taking place in 2024, right? I believe the F-35s (both A & C variants) do NOT have the sidekick upgrade as of 2024. It would make more sense for the F/A-18s to be strapped with AIM-174Bs.
Noted thanks.
I have a question, sir. Can you Daisy-chain your older computer would the new computer you plan on acquiring? In doing so, will doing that increase your computing power? This caveman is curious to know.
Not sure dcs works like that
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul yeah...I ran into one of the resident computer gurus almost immediately after I asked the question and he gave me somewhat the same answer by saying daisy chaining doesn't increase computing power or efficiency.
Good idea but def not, all needs to run on a single CPU.
L1 and gamers Nexus appear friendly in their videos, approaching then might make it for great videos for them and you, and perhaps lead to them making a system for you that would rub like a charm.
brilliant
Is there a reason the F-35s etc. cannot just turn and then vanish when they cross a certain threshhold?
Yes it's all doable but in these big dynamic scenarios I find it almost impossible to create a logic trigger that works every time. I never know where they will be and when.
I really need a Zeus type function to use when watching.
I can't imagine how big of a cluster fuck a modern naval battle will be.
I just watched a video last night saying there are F35 Bs and F35As now. Hope they are modeled. Still watching into at the moment.

It is essentially a 2 seater Super Hornet with an EW package and no gun. DCS doesn't have a way currently to model how jamming works.

Usually one Marine F35 unit is home while the other is deployed on one of the LHD carriers part of the 31 MEU
Thanks a lot.
Why are none of the super hornets carrying AIM-174?
Probably still in testing phases.....there has been no pics I have seen of LIVE AIM 174Bs yet......the ones on the Hornets were just testing how far the missile flies....speed.....distance, havent heard of any deployed ones yet.
It is still in testing phase. Can't give them something not fully integrated.
This is a here and now scenario, not a future battle.
Make a video with the refitted Kirov class battlecruiser!
you know i enjoy your simulations, but DCS (or someone else), really need a complete set of maps/charts to use.
They are expensive. So are all the different aircraft models they use, especially ones that are playable.
lol yes agree.

Sorry, had to put this together in a rush as ever.
Trop fort ces américains.
Another great video! It's obvious that you put a lot of work into these. Don't lose heart from a few whiners.
47:47 looked like an AIM kill
Math is hard... US Aircraft 24 + 20 + 12 + 45 = 101, not 77 😎
My bad thanks.
This was one absolutely amazing great fight they spit the enemy into to a triple prong attack so they made it so much more challenging for any attack. DCnewcoach ❤😊😊
Its unfortunate people disliked the last video. The blue team isn't always going to win.
what cpu are you using, what's your computer setup, maybe we could fundraise a better setup? What's crashing the pc, ram, cpu, can you use gpu?
Chinese Fujian carrier VS The United States Kitty Hawk
I was stationed on Sasbeo Japan we picked up Marines but not sure now
Could a flight of F-35s coordinate their radars to create an ensemble firing solution on a target that neither one alone could acquire?
Is it possible to scale down the battles by like half but allow winchester planes to land? I feel like the losses count is unusable for anything let alone to determine a winner because it will always be around 50/50 if they all no retreat.
May I ask what is your pc specs?
did you forget Yokota AFB?
@@shaunholt
Except we wouldn't have to do any of that.
