The sixties and seventies were the best for music.
Absolutely. I feel so blessed to have been young in those days. Wild and free. Hitchin a ride and staying in communes along the way. The best times of my life.
Also the 50's in the group
I agree...
I'd agree, but I'd also include early 80's, then music got all too clinical and silly after 1985....
Great reaction!!!
From Andover,England formed in 1964 the Troggs a garage band known for songs as"WILD THING"(1966) a #1 for them,"WITH A GIRL LIKE YOU"(1966), "ANY WAY YOU WANT". Wild Thing written by Chip Taylor in 1965 is on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time at 257. This song was featured in the movie: "MAJOR LEAGUE" I and II.
You left out their best song...."Love is All Around You".
Taylor is the brother to Jon Voight and Angelina Jolie's uncle.
you didn't mention I Can't Control Myself and Love Is All Around
One of the greatest songs ever. Loved it first time I heard it mid 60s still do.
Isn’t that one of the coolest songs and coolest voices ever?
You two made me smile once again..... you gotta quit it.... my cheeks can't take it !!! Lol. Luv your reactions 🥰
Redge Presley, the singer, worked on a building site as a roofer. When he heard this on the radio, he uped tools and left for the big time. I did see 3 of the members of this band in Carnaby Street, London. This was a popular hang out spot at the time. The song was played to death on juke boxes at the time, mainly because of the great beat and tag phrase. Check out Van Morrison as a 19 year old in his first band Them and a song called Gloria, which was also played a lot on juke boxes in the UK.
YES very good comment
You found Wild Thing! I was about 14 on the beach in the summer when this came out. Great memories. Excellent reaction. Cheers from Canada
Australia Here
This is one they always played at the rink .....
Jimi Hendrix Does this Live from his Monterey Pop Festival Performance 1967.
I would LOVE to hear that!! Thank you for the suggestion!!! S send M Squad is the BEST!!! ❤️🥰❤️
Every garage and bar band covered this song in the '60's.
Y'all need to check out Jimi Hendrix' cover of this.
Hendrix knew and hung out with the Troggs in the London club circuit.
Or Sam Kinison’s version
You made EVERYTHING Groovy !
This kind of 60s garage rock was so influential and inspired a lot of the indie/alt rock of later times.
S&M should check out "Wooly Bully" from this era, 1965. "Wooly Bully" has this same feel and is famous partly because no one can understand what the lyrics are! Maybe S&M can be the ones to figure it out!!
"Wooly Bully" was by Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs. I think they would REALLY get a kick out of that group's "Little Red Ridinghood."
Lyrics to "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen are also unintelligible but a massive hit.
or Little Red Riding Hood
Sam the Sham is the Man!!!!!
This riff went straight up to Number 1 in 1966 & was covered by too many artists to count (including Jimi Hendrix). RIP Reg Presley lead singer..
Shawn and Mel are funny as hell! Great reaction to one of the great early anthems of rock.
Thank you so much for watching Edgar
Agreed I'm sitting here laughing n crying at their reactions to this song
@@ShawnandMel4Life you two are simple awesome together.having so much fun tonight watching you 😂🤣🤩
Back in those days whoever you were with at that time was special so you're right that was written for some special girl
Love the one your with for sure.
Yep...Wild Thing, Quinn The Eskimo, Little Red Riding Hood, Red Rubber Ball, Time of the Season, so many 60s staples.
Jimi Hendrix lit the world on fire and forever changed rock music forever with his live version of this tune from the 60s at hid American debut at the Monterey Pop Festival.
YES I actually love Jimi Hendrix's Wild Thing RIP
Cold Chisel kill it.................the live version is gold
The Troggs version of 'Love is all around' is another great song. Also 'For your love' by The Yardbirds.
I still sing this to my gal when she gets home….my wild thing….even at 66 Years young…
You both are so much fun, and your reactions are such a pleasure to watch. You pull me into it, and I love that about you both.. Cheers.
Every time I hear this song, I think of the movie “Major League.” 💁🏻♀️
I think of The movie Major League as well!!! Charlie Sheen was amazing as that character!!! Hilarious!!! Love, Love, Love S and M Squad!!! ❤️🥰❤️
Yay Tennessee in the house!! ✌❤🙏 Me too. Love that movie.
@@laurastormgarcia4353 it was probably Charlie’s best character ever!
@@Teresia12 Whoot!! 💁🏻♀️
This song was written by Angelina Jolie's uncle Chip Taylor the brother of Jon Voight the actor. He was born James Voight but went by Chip... Just a fun fact.
This was a huge hit back in 65-67...it was playing everywhere !
Wow, one my fav 60's rock band .This song is a banger. Love the ocarina set and Reg Presley's ton of voice. Check out their four others huge tracks, the awesome "I can't control myself", "With a girl like you", " Love is all around", " Anyway you want me" and so many others.
Luv the reaction to this.
THIS IS MUSIC!!!!
I realised that Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit has a similar riff to this.
fantastic groovy vintage rock! it's been quite awhile on this one, but i still know all the words 😀!
Great reaction. The Troggs other great song was "Love Is All Around",definitely worth a listen!
And it’s nothing like Wild Thing!
@gene thedancinmachine Love Is All Around (and the covers of it) , well worth a view
Greates love song ever 🖤
" With a girl like you " is also a good song .
This is used extensively in movies, tv, and commercials. I’m pretty sure I wore out my single 45 rpm❤️❤️❤️
I remember buying the 45 and playing it at a pool party in 5th grade. It was cool then and is still cool now!! 😁❤👍
Song is lit!!!!!!! I heard it on a commercial 3 minutes later I was downloading the song and jamming to the song lol
I'm following your show from Denmark og and I love your reactions, especially when you're listening to songs from my youth. Wild thing!
Wild Thing, just like “ Gloria” and “Little Black Egg” were staples of every small change teenage rock bands of the mid-60s. They were very popular, and any guitarist that could string gather three different chords could play those songs.
They also wrote the song "Love is all around which was covered by the Scottish group Wet Wet Wet which topped the UK charts for what seemed for ever.
This is the great original version of this song. Now you will want to listen to Jimi Hendrix cover of this song... total fire. The most fun version to watch would be live at the Monterey Pop festival in 1967.
Part of what they called then The British Invasion: Beatles , Rollingstones, Herman's Hermits, Dave Clark Five and many others. 👍👍❤️💯
The Kinks are one of my favourite groups from this time...
I heard this on the radio yesterday, and thought how much I would like to see you react to this song. Imagine my surprise when I saw that you reacted to this, only hours after I heard the song. Great reaction! Thank you, peace!
I love watching your reactions to our 50's and 60's music! LOL 😆 🤣 ❤
Love your reaction to this song, I can’t believe I still remember the lyrics Lol
‘Love Is All Around’ is another Troggs song 🎵 from the 60’s London. Garage band music 😻🇨🇦🎶☮️🎵💜
You guys are the greatest. I enjoy you all so much. You make me happy. I love you guys. Please keep up the good work.
One of my first 45's. Thank you!
Me and a friend choreographed a dance to this for the school dance contest we got second place ! It was also me and my boyfriend at the time song . Good old days !!!
One of my all time FAVORITES ♥ EVER!!! It makes me laugh -- still, after all these years!!! And yes, it's from the mid 60s!!! If I'm in a place where there's a jukebox, I'm DEFINITELY playing WILD THING! Love you 😍 💗 guys. You make me laugh 🤣 😁 😀 😁 as well!!! Keep it up with these oldies!
I love seeing your reactions to the songs I know and love. That also makes my heart sing! ✌🏼❤️
Jimi Hendrix did a cover version of this in the late sixties at the Montery rock festival and set his guitar on fire what a Wild thing
YES....... LOVE IT
I was spoiled hearing. All the great MUSIC from THE 1940-Today
Ooh, you should check out "Love is All Around Me" also - the softer, sweeter side of The Troggs :)
And "With a Girl Like You" for more grooviness :)
I Love the Troggs! Jimi Hendrix Love them too and play this song too.
❤️🥰❤️ Hello S & M SQUAD!!! ⭐️ WOOHOO!!! 💞 WILD THING I THINK I LOVE Y O U!!! 💞
⭐️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 STANDING OVATION!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼⭐️ ❤️🥰❤️
We had some real dirty lyrics to this back in the day lol Always got everyone up dancin' when this came on
You make everything "GROOVY"...✌❤🎸
I loved this band because when you are first leaning guitar it was easy to jam with their songs. This is my favorite song by the band. When this came out this heavy hard rock. It kicked my butt. This reminds me of another oldie by the Barbarians called Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl. Check it out. Also Hanky Panky By Teri Night And The Pack. That was the 60"s.
I'M NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT MY PROBLEMS. BUT I LOST MY JOY SEVERAL YEARS BACK. I RUN ACROSS Y'ALL A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. I REALLY LIKE WHAT YOU DO. I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU. NOW WHEN Y'ALL POP UP YOU MAKE THIS OLD MAN A LITTLE HAPPY. I DO HAVE A QUESTION. ARE Y'ALL A COUPLE? IF NOT YOU SHOULD BE. Y'ALL ARE SO GOOD TOGETHER. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. AND THANK YOU FOR A LITTLE HAPPINESS.
Shawn and Mel, I just love your reactions!!!! I was nine years old when this song came out. GIANT hit! It was a great time for rock-n-roll. I'm glad I was there.😎🔥 Janet from Louisiana ☮🖤🤘
"I cant Control Myself" is another great one from The Troggs
Just another polite reminder to check out J.D. Souther "You're Only Lonely" (1979) live 2018.
Hey you guys, Would you please react to Tommy James and The Shondells? Hanky Panky and Crystal Blue Persuasion. You'll love them.
Thank you for reacting to this! This my late dad’s favorite song. I played it for him on my phone last year in the hospice before he passed at the age of 83. Bittersweet memories!
Wild Thing sung by Sister Carol from the closing credits of the film Something Wild is WELL worth a listen.
Music of the 60's was just plain fun 😊 and feel good
Vibes
Got to see them live April 7, 1968 open for The Who, along with the MC5 at the Coliseum in Toronto it was a wild concert,
My boyfriend's band back in the 60s played this song all the time in the bars..
I was a teenager when this came out!! Hit was big, try Hanky Panky by Tommy James Shondells. The song was 1967
3:06 "you make everything Groovy". It was the 60's.
Great reaction!
i really enjoy your reactions. Your enthusiasm for the music really makes my day. Thank you!
My favorite Troggs song is "Love is all Around."
Another great 60's group. Was cracking up at your reactions at 3:30 in the morning! 1966!
They were one of the first heavy metal 🎸 and kick of tv
“Love is all around” Another Troggs classic!
Wow I love your reaction so much, don't stop playing that type of music love you
You said it exactly, that was music ! There is no music today, so sad
Written on subway walls as "Wild thing, you make my thing swing." They had to change the words to get it played on the radio.
Summer 1966 - made ~groovy~ by The Troggs! 🌞
O remember this when I was a kid, big song. I loved that song. Thanks Shawn and Mel. You made my day, I just love you guys.
I was in Year 8 in high school when this song came out. I'm not sure which was more fun: hearing this song again, or listening to your reactions!
You two are on a roll today... Wild Thing, Hot Stuff, Tutti Frutti lol...
As 10- and 11--year-olds this was the song to sing around the classroom in 1966.
Such a great song for the time:)
"Love Is All Around" is another great one by the Troggs. A slower smoother song that I'm sure Mel would love. Now, if Shawn could just keep his hand off the button less often and let the music play.
GREAT reaction to an AWESOME song. I think what you thought was a flute is actually called a recorder. A similar looking instrument to a flute.
Glad you're discovering timeless gems, try also the cover version in Major League and enjoy watching the movie as well, be looking forward to more videos of yours thanks
Can't help but sing the chorus when you hear that beat!
Had a special place in my heart. Any song can do that at the right time and place.
Mel - you are so beautiful. I LOVE the way you sing your name.
Wild thing was the jam for the Cleveland cavaliers Anderson Varajao. All because of his hair! He had a gigantic afro. He could block anybody's shot. He also got dunked on by Dwayne Wade. He played basketball in Brazil and Portugal.
I grew up with this music,my brother played his records every day.
Written by Chip Taylor. who also wrote Angel of the Morning...and is also the younger brother of actor Jon Voight.
Thanks for this!
Jimi Hendrix performed this song at Monterey Pop 1967 which was his big break as an artist. His version upped the "Wild" factor even more. Because he started playing "Strangers in the night" as the solo and setting his guitar on fire.
The story was that the Troggs didn't want to record this song, but the record company insisted.
So they intentionally made it weird and offbeat hoping that it wouldn't be released.
This a fun song, so simple but catchy and powerful, check out Jimi Hendrix's cover version he took it to another whole level. The instrument in the break is an Ocarina played by the singer Reg Presley, it's a palm held instrument, kind of hairdryer shaped, one of the earliest wind instrument designs known to man and it's origins go right back to the Neolithic period, quite appropriate for a such a very primal song as 'Wild thing'. The Ocarina was popular in Mayan and Aztec cultures, European explorers and conquerors then discovered it from the Aztecs. Ocarinas are commonly made of clay, wood or in modern times plastic, and, like a flutes or whistles, it has holes which are covered by the fingertips, or left open, in different combinations which produces a small muted range of notes when blown into.
Wild Thing was used throughout the movie Major League starring Charlie Sheen. I think Wesley Snipes made his movie debut in this movie, but Charlie Sheen is “Wild Thing” in the movie. Loved your reaction AGAIN!!! ❤️❤️
You also need to hear Love is All Around by them as well.
The "flute" you are hearing is an ocarina, something you will never hear in another rock song!
I like his head movement at the end. He has attitude. So cool.
Wild thing was the jam for the Cleveland cavaliers Anderson Varajao. All because of his hair! He had a gigantic afro. He could block anybody's shot. All the girls were hooked on him and the guys were awesome. He came came to the arena with the afro on lol. He also got dunked on by Dwayne Wade. He played basketball in Brazil and Portugal.
Fantastic you guys!
Music changed the day Wild Thing came out.
It's both hilarious and wonderful watching American adults rock out to 'our' sixties music! I was a 13 or 14-year old schoolgirl when this came out, and my parents thought it was all 'just a lot of noise'.
