He was convicted because he entered the Capitol as part of the first wave, right after that "proud boy" Dominick P. smashed the windows with a stolen riot shield. So he knew the entry was illegal. And he admitted to this. Tuckers four minute clip doesn't absolve him from this, since the entry was caught on video. Tuckers clip had nothing to do with Chansley getting released. He was released because of the plea deal he entered.
@@grosenj Just for the record: the individuals (illegally) charged with 1/6th were made to take plea deals offered to them, or face 20, 40+ years in prison; that's for those whom were actually indicted. There are many Americans sitting in jail waiting for trial and many that (still) haven't been charged with any crime.
When this gentleman, and others accepted their plea deals Nancy Pelosi, despite repeated requests and subsequent lawsuits still refused to release most of the videos from 1/6th, which would've greatly impacted the state's cases against those who accepted plea deals.
The released videos are directly responsible for this man's, and others early release. Their lawyers filed suit against the Government within days of their release. The government, in exchange for early release made the defendants wave their rights to appeal and from my understanding, there were several individuals who refused to waive their appeal rights and chose to stay and fight.
The footage is what's impacting the cases against those who are still sitting in jail waiting to be charged.
The judge who threw him in prison was part of all this. This doesn't seem to be discussed.
Who is it? Is it an appointed judge or an elected judge? I would speculate and say an appointed judge.
