    Solving hard algorithm problems is pretty much like going to the gym to build muscle except the muscle you working is Brain , this guy is no joke .

      Thats the thing about algorithms its actually the computer that do the job for you. All you need is to figure out how it will make sense to the machine.

    I love that Errichto is so humble. When he said that about the money of the price you can realize the kind of person who really is, he loves what he's doing and he's really a motivation.

      @@realagentpenguin not really when he was young he wasn't humble there was a master at codeforces criticizing somethings and errichto told him reach red then speak (and he reached red after a while) but that doesn't sound he is humble like is a master too stupid to criticize something? But he isn't stupid to talk like he's the best in the world he just knows that he is really good and one of the best but there are people that are better than him so for me 0 humble just realistic person

      @@heondokim Yeah man. People love competitive programming and continuing for a long time like 15 years. All these great programmers solving the hardest problems for us to make our life better. Their dedication has a great impact on our society. We sometimes can not utilize their knowledge by just giving a job in great companies. For competitive programmers, every company should create a separate role and team. It's my personal opinion.

      Yes.
      More generally, he's not like "miles away" from others, they're all very similar and you will find that tourist doesn't get 1st place in every competition, it's just that he's so much more experienced (he started programming at 6, and seriously started learning at 9) than everyone else and with that much experience its hard not to be #1.

      diztiinct he f*****g won international Olympiad of informatics six times. He is also youngest person to do so. He started programming since 5. His mother is a computer scientist. He probably from Bulgaria or Belarus

      Also these programmers could get jobs that pay a lot and that provide job security for years. Not sure what kinda jobs fortnite players would get but those jobs most likely won’t pay as well as

      ZanK ✅ I don’t think you get the point. Obviously he’s not gonna be competing every month for 25 years. He has won a competition already and I bet Google, Apple, Amazon and the likes are *begging* him with over $200k yearly salary to work for them. Nobody wants to watch competitive programming. It’s not as fun as fortnite. And the purpose of the competition, as he mentioned, is recruitment.

      On the other hand, Principal Engineer/Technical Lead/Senior Manager at top companies in the Bay Area are able to earn over $500k/year. That's before accounting for some incredible benefits and perks. Given that there are thousands of positions at that level or higher, I'd much rather make a career out of that rather than hope I become a fortnite champion lmao.

    I competed with Gennadiy at school on a national programming contest. Well, it's not that I competed with him, it's more like I participated, and he had some easy practice for an international contest. He was already brilliant and FAR ahead at 15

    its so crazy, like these guys are so extremely intelligent, smart and most importantly hard working, yet some streamers on twitch that stream cool games earn sooo much more. The prizes for gaming tournaments are soooo much higher etc. Its crazy how entertainment really is the highest paying job for non entrepreneurs

    Imagine, In my school years in Russia I had to compete with this Genady, and how discouraging this has been to know that this guy started programming from 7 years old, and you only came to this field 2 years ago (I was 15-16). He literally was top 1 his whole life.

      @@MiketheCoder I doubt the quality of the contests are good, there are reasons why they prefer CodeForces, Topcoder or AtCoder, not Hackerrank, Leetcode or Codechef

      @@AntonioRonde I would say 10 push ups each time it gives wrong answer. He is very good at writing well written code. So, almost 100% of times it compiles without error :D
