+michael jagger yeah they are good engines this car was going to scrap but i saved it to use around the farm but i did n't check the cam belt and after i adjusted the fuel crew and the turbo it decided to snap and wrecked the engine!. so i had to scrap it, i have the modern non turbo version the duw8 in my van and the first thing i did with it was change the cambelt.
+1superocky1 you can get away with replacing just two glow plugs because i did and it started fine but it was just a bit rough running for a few secounds.
+Oliver Baughan thanks oliver , will try doing that and see if that helps ! looks a nightmare doing other two ! will let u know how it goes , regards richard.
too long cranking but! hud9 engine is unstopble so u can kill it, only starter will die.glow plugs are cheaper then starter??? same angine like in mine citroen zx, thing is fast in acceleration but top speed is only 190 because too short gears....
I fitted new glow plugs about a month ago and annoyingly since then the cam belt decided it would give way, so in doing so the pistons have hit the valves and snap the cam shaft in half.
Oliver Baughan u do it in every 120 000 km its a rule. i doen that on mine on 90 000 km and also reparing rear axle. every day i drive it i hit red line... engine just go go goooo :) you can check some of mine vids on my channel about that little french car.
+michael jagger yes but the engine would have to pre heated for to fire because it is indirect injection it is near impossible to start with out heat as you can see, to be able to bump start the engine would have to have a heat gun in the intake manifold or use the glow plugs fitted which you need a some power for the glow plugs. bump starting does not turn the engine over as quick either.
No wonder you car is knackered, the way you abuse it.
Turning it over on the starter for such a long time will knacker the starter motor too!
Préchauffe 2 ou 3x au lieu d'insister sur le démarreur 😉
XUD9 are strong engines. many of them outlive the car

do you need to replace all 4 glow plugs or would the two easy ones do the job ? they look a right bugger to do !! anyone know ? thanks richard.

i have not a clue i will try and find out
the fuel pump is a lucas i am currently thinking about stage 1 tuning it.
go bosch as you can then run it on either used engine oil or used veg oil

Citroen Zx I am thinking of buying a citreon or a pug small van with a 1.9 xud there good solid engines
Oliver Baughan
xara break is good option then, 1.9 td way better than 2.0 hdi 66kw
Citroen Zx I will look in them I don't know much about them
could you bump start a car from cold?

play with your toes man
I had to whilst the glow plugs were broken, I use a bit of easy start these days
