Oh heck yea! This game used to drive me crazy when I was a kid. The music & sound would get burned into my head & psyche & I'd hear those damn sounds & melody when I wasn't playing the game. Yet I couldn't stop playing it. I don't know if for better or for worse but I did beat the game once.
@@MarioTGP, actually. When you got to that point in the game, there was like some Russian name or title in the top left corner below or next to your score if I recalled.
Man, one thing you could never forget was that weird underground music theme. It sticks to your soul. I actually carried that tune in my head throughout most of my life 😅 If this is the only game you had you probably hated your life. It is a classic in its own right, but man. It gets repetitive real quick. I got stuck with it for a while off a trade. I remember being somewhat depressed 😅 Memories.
Yeah it's been stuck in my head since childhood too when my brothers friend traded some game we had for this and that underground music always stood out, I think this game was new when I played it , was so long ago
I once asked for Life Force (Gradius sequel) for Xmas, describing it as the video game where you have a space ship that shoots at everything. I ended up getting THIS.
Gracias por revivir este recuerdo World of Longplays
I have been trying to remember the name of this game and find it for literally over a decade. I found the reference on a thread and this video helped me remember it. Thank you. Thank you very much. I can now die.
I felt this 😅 I got it on a trade. It gave me a bad case of depression. The underground music will literally drown you 😅 Definitely a love and hate thing here.
As a kid I always figured it just went around in a loop, but never knew for sure. I enjoyed it I guess but I loved lifeforce way more. As a kid in the 90s I only got used games for $2 at Kmart, so I mainly could only judge games by the cover art, so I guess I could have chosen worse lol.
Thanks for the nostalgic trip! I have never beaten the boss and never seen the sea and base part of the game. The underground music was very annoying as it was so fast paced but it gave a better advantage as your mech could shoot more projectiles
@@solarflare9078Yeah, true. The bummer is that the NES is almost certainly capable of doing that effect but it may be that they ran out of time during development, or there wasn't enough available memory to do it etc.
Could I just mention something that's off the subject for a moment? I also carry around this memory of when I used to, have listened and watched the R-rated comedy flick called 'Tropic Thunder.' The movie director was really mean and crass, when he threw some dirty stuff in it. It really bugs me up when he did that. This also resurrected the memory of when Hal Lindsey used to say to me, "KEEP MY MATERIAL PG PLEASE." Why you can tell that Hal Lindsey wants honesty. ⛈️ 🌩 ⚡️
This is such a weird game... I remember playing this game quite a lot as a kid, and I'm not even sure why I played it so much. It's not terribly complex or deep, perhaps the mindlessness of it is soothing? I feel like there could have been a much better game without recycling the same two extremely monotonous tracks over and over again. I remember when I was in the underground I always thought the music sounded Chinese and those first enemies you encounter there look like the stereotypical rice farmer hats... Something about that part of the game seemed mildly racist to me as a kid.
It's up to you 😁 There isn't any specific time to go down there, but it is tougher underground. You will either fight the 3 headed dragon underground or on the surface. After you go through all the areas the game will loop back to the beginning.

Was there actually an ending? As a kid, one time I went through it for about a couple of hours realizing it kept looping to the same set of levels.
@@MarioTGP, actually. When you got to that point in the game, there was like some Russian name or title in the top left corner below or next to your score if I recalled.
These songs were in my head all week, and I spent all week trying to remember which game it was, 😆
This game taught me how to ragequit for getting shot after assembling all the parts. Good to know the loop here.
Can't believe I had to search all the nes playlists to find "that game with underground elevator that had rad music"

Also the one part of the underground music always reminded me of Woody Woodpecker's laugh lolol
I remember this game wasn't all that hard to beat, but the sounds and music were just murderous!

Pretty sure life force is technically gradius 2.5 bcuz the actual sequel is the Famicom gradius 2

Only true gamers will know this game
The game was a favorite of Classic Game Room's Mark Bussler. I wish he still made videos.
I'll bet a good number of us here wish Mark still made videos too, man. 😞
It all went down after CGR Mark III
I remember playing this game so many times back then but never get past the water section

The underworld is made of pomegranate and the music sounds a lot like pomegranate to me
Enduring the music is half of what makes it hard to play. Damn.
i feel ur pain man ...
POW! Right in the childhood.
A neighbor kid had this game when I was a child. I felt sorry for him.
😅
I spent my entire childhood thinking that that was a "Mad Max" game X-)
Same, lol. I could swear that was what was written on the cassette tape for the ZX Spectrum (TK-90X) port that I played.
I searched for "Mad Max NES", and this video was the first suggestion.
I got this as a birthday present as a kid... needless to say, I felt ripped off....

I love the underground music ♥
They killed themself because he beat the game. It just goes around in a loop.
Yep, I still have that game
Great concept. The lava levels missing the isometric kinda takes me outta it. But this looks so good.
Muchas gracias por subir esto. De todo corazón ❤❤❤❤❤❤
adoro Magmax soy su fan 🧐☕

MY CHILDHOOD WAS AWESOME!!!!
YEAH!!! YOUR THIS OLD PEOPLE!!
I thought this game just loops, never got far when I was a kid, internet is really a wonderful thing
Its a gift to us 90s kid
Graphics are pretty close, but the music seems off a bit. Loved to play the arcade version all the time.
The graphics aren’t close since it’s missing the line scroll effect. That’s what made the arcade stand out in the first place

Well THAT took me back...
No me acordaba de este juego jejejejejejejejejeje
If you had this game as a kid you’re probably screwed up right now.

That's lame !
Worst nes game
lol it was different but after the loops it gets boring
How do you know when the best time to switch between going underground or above ground is?
It's up to you 😁 There isn't any specific time to go down there, but it is tougher underground. You will either fight the 3 headed dragon underground or on the surface. After you go through all the areas the game will loop back to the beginning.
i remember i hate the above ground
