Seven months ago discovered this recording and I'm still just absolutle gobsmacked by the performance, setting, and the whole lot. Incredibly beautiful set of tunes.
I know the first as Custys, probably after Tola :) But aside from that, this lady is simply outstanding. Wish I could play like that. And versions are so magic.
Composed in 1983 by John Brady and dedicated to his wife Eileen's niece, Arlene McIntyre (Notes from the Brady Collection). So I doubt Siobhan was aged enough at that time for having composed McIntyre's Fancy !
I love June on the flute but there is no instrument quite like the harp. It's phenom and if I am not misinformed the harpists have never been so many in Ireland as now.
Actually, the second tune is in A minor (aeolian mode). You see that she is using the F key for that one, which she would not have needed if it had been a C flute, but need for that key on a D flute.
Its a D flute. If you are looking at this moment on the video (0:30), you will see that June plays a D at the second octave by using the basic fingering according to the note.
@@arthurozenne8450 Thank you all for your replies. I had not seen them till just now. I actually learned the 2nd tune in the set first and now working on the first one and realize now it was a D flute all along. 🙂

The first tune is listed as McIntyre's Fancy, track 12, vol 2 of " Fliuit" June McCormack's irish flute tutorial .

FYI Mcintyre's Fancy was written by John Brady, flute player from Co. Offaly.

God bless you
I'm pretty sure this is on the C flute and not D. Any comments from others? Regardless, two of my favorites tunes set together. Well done!
It’s definitely a d flute, she’s playing the second tune in c, it’s so nice ❤
