Noah's Ark was gigantic. Termites are tiny. They would've been eating the ship's wood for hundreds of years. Besides, all the animals could've been hibernating as a result of the changed atmospheric pressure and oxygen proportion.

For those who don’t know what dr nye is taking about when he talks about the Wyoming, basically the Wyoming was the largest wooden ship ever made, it was built in 1909, it built for transporting cargo, the problems it faced was its hull leaked due to twisting, the reason why it twisted was because of its size, you see once a ship gets to a certain size it(not sure how big) it goes through the waves opposed to over the waves, this would cause stress to the middle of the ship and if it wasn’t strong enough it would twist at the centre, the maximum size of a practical wooden ship is 100m otherwise the ship would twist, the Wyoming would only be used in very certain conditions so it wouldn’t twist and sink but it was caught in a storm and sank with everyone on board getting killed and going 75 feet under the sea

This video illustrates the concept. In this case a bridge despite being made of steel and concrete still given its length incurred structural failure. Wind shear across such a long span led to "mechanical resonance" - more specifically "aeroelastic flutter" here - leading to the twisting you see in the video. With enough constant stress the span despite reinforcement led to a positive feedback loop and subsequent collapse.
Moral of the story: wooden ships built from planking will if beyond a given length incur "twisting" of their hulls as with the bridge - in this case from the waves pushing against the hull rather than winds pressing upon a bridge + the weight of the ship as it bobs out of the water.
Given the nature of the hull which contains numerous "seams" from the individual planks used then in the face of severe stress = leaking and failure are inevitable unless countermeasures are employed such as bilge pumps and reinforcing of the hull. The Bible itself claims the world was enveloped in a global storm lasting 40 days & nights = hence a storm of sufficient violence and duration to cause such failure - the _"hogging & sagging"_ Nye refers to. 🤨
i thought it was the last comment? now its another? a man of conviction. The Wyoming is not CLYDE BUILT? Its an ill thought out vessel. The ark takes 100 years to build. How long did they take to make the wyoming? Was time spent on every timber? You can make a pine box rattled off and sold in a store for a dollar? that might hold a few cigars? or you can make a wonderful bespoke Mahogany Box that sells at auction for thousands. an effort to make a quality item. You see barn wood builders dismantle old barns, and repurpose those timbers to make a wonderful palatial house. Its all about CARE and ATTENTION.
I take some nice wooden panels, I trim them to size, i cover them with rabbit glue, size, i add a base coat of acrylic too, and then i paint with OIL. The panels will not warp in my lifetime. It will take at least 50-200 years to warp. i buy half inch ply. you could fire a gun and it should survive. I could use wood panels that are much thinner? and they will warp in a month. half a centimetre? and its easier to handle. It is a quick solution. I do not think NOAH is a hack. I think a man who has 500 years of living, would pick up skills. I think he does not sit around watching TV? He has only his hands and TIME. He is not wasting time, in idle pursuits? No snooker halls? No distractions. He is needing a project? God involves him. As any FATHER does. Get off your lazy arse... and build. Noah is using proper carpentry skills he picked up as a youth. If i had 500 years, I could learn many things. So far I have had 56 years. And i learned to swim at age 30, best thing I ever did. Now I can swim for miles. without any need to touch the sides of anything. A man can learn new things. Noah does not get COLDS or FLU? these are new contagions. Like Covid. Noah is not a sick man. We get sick. He does not. all these maladies we have today were not present in Noah's age. Over centuries the ages decrease? WHY? Moses lived to 120. the environment is attacking life. The air is more polluted and diseases are more common. The ages drop. We are born with diseases already present. I myself like millions are in a blood group with lower oxygen uptake. So Its unlikely I would ever be an elite athlete. Someone with a better blood group will be a better athlete. We even see athletes blood doping. The LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD, says the Bible. We have young blood treatments? sounds like a vampire scenario? Patients getting blood from donors. Noah is a man with 500 years of SKILLS. He does not spend his days doing nothing. I have days spent watching tv. Noah does not have that luxury.

From what I've come to understand, some people think that since insects apparently didn't "breathe the breath of life" in the same way other animals do (mammals, reptiles, birds, etc...), they apparently weren't brought on the Ark at all. So, they'd have been completely wiped out in the flood, too. Yet, we still have quite a lot of them today.... sooo... what?? Lol... I guess they did have plenty of dead bodies of the innocent beings to hitch a ride on, soooo maybe that's what happened?? Ridiculous. XD

If all you want out of a boat is for it hold a lot of cargo and float without tipping over, the best shape for both objectives is a wide circular tub.
A circular craft maximizes interior space for the amount of materials used and is maximally resistant to being deformed or tipped over by wind and waves equally from any direction.
A long skinny craft takes more materials to build and is only advantageous if you have both steering and propulsion to keep the bow pointed toward oncoming wind and waves.
It seems the God of the Bible didn't know any of this.

I had a debate with my father about this and his answer to all these question this: to god anything is possible. But that doesn't cut it out... it's mythology, you can't take it seriously.
Ask him why even go with the Ark if God just uses magic to fix all the problems with that plan.
My answer to the possible argument is if that is the case then god can prove himself to us without screwing with free will.

p.s. - best not to argue with your parents as your chances of changing their minds is slim. Simply understand that they likely believing what they have for the entirety of their lives = have become inured into that belief structure and formed an "emotional need" for it.

The way that all the animals couldve remained on a 500 ft ship is if they were mostly juvenile, this makes feeding them easier and they would get along inthe tight spaces for the most part.
1. Using the word "couldve" means you are guessing.
2. The Bible said a male and its mate, juveniles do not have mates.
Juvenile animals require more attention, ask any zoo keeper. It would have been harder keeping them fed and looked after.

We don't want the animals having offspring on board the ship as much as possible. However with creatures like rodents this may not be conventionally possible.
Animals raised together from a juvenile age would get along with each other better. I've seen it happen before. And animals raised from birth can be trained to behave. You'd have difficulty with some but it would be far better than all of them being adults.
So Yhwh managed to get 7000 females hugely pregnant or full of eggs at the hatching stage to the Ark just before the deluge in order to get juvenile animals? You haven't noticed juvenile animals have ravenous appetites? 8 people for 14,000 animals, that's about 1 minute per person per animal per day to feed and scoop the poop through one small window, ouch. Methane is a dangerous gas.
Mr Ham's Ark replica has stuffed animals since keeping live ones cooped up so long would be cruel I guess, and there are laws.

My point was ask any zoologist or person who works in a zoo how much harder it is looking after a juvenile vs an adult.

There are heaps of things in the old testament that have no evidence that happened. The ark there is no evidence and too be fair I could not of seen that happening.

So many things wrong with this story. A family building a boat that big would take so long just to get the wood yet alone build the boat. Round up 2 of every animal which also could take a few lifetimes. What about dogs. Like 2 of every dog breed? That alone is like 800 dogs. Then the whole world flooding would be hard to believe bc the water would need to rise so much which it isn’t like we got unlimited water to keep filling the ocean. Then my biggest concern is the amount of food for every thing would need. Which would bring like 4 or 5 of those boats.
I wonder why they didn't freeze, I mean, above 8 thousand meters of altitude the cold is extremely intense. It is not known exactly how high the waters rose, but in the bible it says that the waters covered all the high mountains below the sky, Mount Everest is just over 8 thousand meters...
It says it took him like 50 years or something like that to build. Also, scientists agree, all dogs descend from wolves. There was just the original wolves on the ark that had become subspecies of wolves and dogs through the process of natural selection. There was nowhere near as many animals on the ark, that naysayers like to say. No polar bears at that time. I've been getting answered prayers for over 6 years with witnesses on some, including a healing miracle, following biblical instructions.

One of the things that has always confused me is why all depictions of Noah's Ark show it as a ship, with a bow and a stern. It wasn't a ship! It was not designed (so far as we know) to have a means of propulsion, and as such, would not need a bow or stern like a ship would. IF the ark were ever really built, it would have probably looked like a gigantic cargo container box, like you see on modern ocean transports. That would have made it a bit (not much) easier to build. Even so, it would still twist (though probably not as much as a ship would) and would in only a short time have leaked badly.
Why wouldn't the Ark twist the same amount as a ship of the same size? What would limit the amount of twist?

Many have been able to prove it's highly likely that the arc was real and even more scientific and geographical evidence that the arc has already been found many, many years ago. All it takes is a quick search to unearth the other side of this scientific evidence.

There is a TV show called "If we built it today", very first episode covered the Pyramids.
We have cranes that can life 2,000 of those blocks at once and place them with pin point precision, we have cutters can cut blocks in hours (not days) and they will be precise. We have trucks that can transport the blocks at 100kph.
We can do it better but the thing stopping us is that it is estimated to cost from 3-5 Billion dollars. No one is throwing that kind of money away to show you it can be done.
In the 80's there was a show that showed how it was done, using wood, basic chisel, hemp rope, and logs.

The ships of the Spanish armada was of a typical size. The São Martinho was 180 feet, far from the 500 of the ark. 180 feet could handle the physics of hogging and sagging, 500 was too much.
If you took a stick 180 cm long and held it 2cm from the ground, the far end would still be 2cm from the ground, if you did that with a stick 500sm long the farther end will have drooped and no longer be 2cm above the ground but closer to 1cm.

Why? God made the animals come to the ark (Genesis 7:9), is it too much more to believe that he prevented them from eating each other while on it? Then in 2 Kings, King Hezekiah learned he was dying, and pleaded to God to not let him die. God sent a prophet to king hezekiah who said hezekiah would live. Hezekiah wanted a sign, and that would be for the sun to defy the law of inertia and go back 10 degrees. NASA confirmed it and did the math (look it up for more info).
We also found Noah’s Ark hanging out in turkey, along with anchor stones marked with crosses signifying that it’s a revered place, along with altars and many other things. Look it up, it’s good stuff.

1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect)
2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs
3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. Everyone said “crucify Him”) major L to those opposed to Jesus

5) Stealing the Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do (besides Judas. Although he hung himself after feeling remorse for betraying Jesus).

That’s the difference between Australia and the Bering Land Bridge. And just saying that there was no fossil evidence is just kind of wild, if there were four thousand years of kangaroo pilgrimage to Australia there would absolutely have to be some sort of evidence of that. You see that everywhere of animals much much older than this 4000 year old Kangaroo you’re saying existed. Just saying that there wasn’t doesn’t mean there wasn’t. If they did they _had_ to, it’s common logic and some incredible coincidence for them not to, and you can’t depend on incredible coincidences in the real world. If God decided there weren’t going to be fossils, that’s kind of a bizarre thing. Why would he actively hide evidence of his doing and then give us plenty of evidence of things that contradict, or at the very least explain things that leave him out of the equation. Because God works in mysterious ways? A god who just wants us to love him would actively try and work against giving us reason to believe in him? What, is he a toxic boyfriend who’s jealous of our ex and tries to set us up to cheat on him and then gets mad when we do? That doesn’t seem very smart for an omniscient, omnipotent god.
Not to mention that tar thing doesn’t solve the problem of the boat bending and twisting like Bill mentioned. The other side of the "argument" is that stories like Noah's Ark are not meant to be interpreted literally, but instead, read to reveal truths about ourselves, our beliefs, our religion, etc.. But most people disregard that, and assume that people who follow religion take everything literally, which isn't true; it's an over generalization.

There isn't any particularly convincing argument that the original writers of the Ark myth intended for it to be taken metaphorically, based as it was on a popular Mesopotamian story taken quite literally. From a modern perspective it's absurd to take it literally, but that's not any kind of guide as to how the story was originally intended to be understood.

Although Christianity stems from Judaism their beliefs are different; for one, the Jewish people are still waiting for their Messiah, Christians have one. 4.
