The diagonal front was really nice and I don't think I have ever seen that before. Sidenote: Since I have been watching Kayla and learning from her for builds, I have start noticing the houses around me, how "boxer" they are, and think about I would build the shell of a house I drive by on the road in the Sims
if you want an open floor plan, how i usually do it is have the really tiny 1/2 walls placed to visually separate the space and then i delete them once i am done building. Its kinda like drawing a face, it's helpful to have the lines that mark facial features.
Not sure if it was intentional, but the house that's at 6:23 kinda gives me the house from Dynasty vibes with the double staircase, piano, and placement of the dining room and kitchen. Super cute!

I'm this way too: I love building the shell of a house but when it comes to furnishing I get tired quickly. I have no problem furnishing kitchens and bathrooms, the living rooms are the rooms I hate the most and I don't know why. I usually build the shell and furnish the kitchen and bathrooms in a fairly short time, then I always take a break and go back to furnishing the rest in a second moment, sometimes I alternate between bedrooms/living room and landscaping (I love landscaping) just to avoid getting too bored and risking abandoning the build. The worst is: I tipically start building with the clear goal in mind of doing a small build so I can furnish it quickly but inevitably I add space over space and always find myself with big houses in my hands and the ache of the thought I have to furnish them all :D
I'm guilty of the shell building thing with my own sims 😂 I'll build the house, and then I'm like, "Uh I don't want to furnish." So I put down their essentials and 'decorate as I play.'
I find it fun and helpful when creating open floorplans to use your flooring as room indicators. Like there won't be walls but I'll have like one main flooring for the majority of the space and then give at least the living room a different flooring and sometimes the kitchen as well to give an indication of separate rooms
