17:00 I feel like with AI upscaling, and diminishing returns on performance, hybrid systems will start to offer about as much performance as the average gamer will care for. If we look back to Gen 6, PS2 was far less capable than Gamecube and Xbox, but few actually cared. A smaller visual difference is going to exist between Switch 2 and PS5, both consoles will be relevant into the next decade as well, so while I think Microsoft should make consoles, if they do step out of the hardware side of gaming, Nintendo shouldn't be treated as a different kind of gaming segment, they will likely offer the same 3rd party games going forward, crowning Playstation the only "console" that matters going forward, is short sighted IMO, especially when we talk about the 2030s and the next generation (Switch 3? and PS6) which will incur an even smaller difference in visual fidelity.

I don't care what others say, I like the M&S Olympics series and I'm pumped they're being discontinued, at least they could've made two more to fill two decades worth of the series instead of only a decade and a half.
Outlaws doesn't interest me much, and the general state of Star Wars isn't helping there. The problem with the official controllers is they keep giving them extra functionality that doesn't matter most of the time instead of just making a basic controller. Like I've never played any game on PS3 that uses the Sixaxis stuff, or anything on PS4 that needed the touch pad, or anything on Switch that needed the motion controls. Why has it become popular to talk straight up negatively about Xbox? You really think they'll just stop making consoles after acquiring Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard? They're doing just fine.
All this stuff going on with Sony and Microsoft is why I built my own Gen 9 console, all in on what AMD, Linux and Steam have going on currently. I get HDR 10 on FreeSync in native 4k@120 fps on my tv and can use whatever controller or Wii Mote I like.
Let's be honest, Microsoft doesn't care if your system doesn't work in a decade, they care that your giving them money now, and quite frankly that's probably true for all 3 console manufacturers sadly
500 million MUA doesn't mean shit, they could've been playing a couple of minutes of candy crush or just logging on for daily rewards or something. I can say the same to f2p gacha games. Release something actual like, where's the majority of the gaming money comes from and how much was spent
He says basically that. It counts everything, so it sounds good to investors. It's the same with the gaming revenue being up so much compared to last year. Subtract out Activision, and it's up just a little bit.
Streamers like Disney+ do this as well. Tell you a show was watched heavily, and leave out the fact that a chunk of it was people who watched for 5 minutes or less, and stopped watching.
They won't get GP on Switch. Nintendo doesn't want it. And if Microsoft does try to force it, Nintendo will sue and show in court how GP has killed Xbox sales and will kill Nintendo sales. So, I'm not worried about Microsoft trying to push GP onto the Switch. It just won't happen. Anyway, Microsoft needs to sell their games on the Switch to get software sales back up.
And that DRM is why I will never go out and buy an Xbox console. I might get it if I ever accure enough tickets at Dave and Buster's but that's about it.
No Sonic Olympic game is a bummer in my household, I have three young girls and one of their favorite games is the one on the switch, would have been fun to bring home a new one
I don’t know who IOC is going to find to license to but you’d think with a successful franchise like Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, you’d do everything to keep that going. Greed is the cause of wonderful things diminishing.
I actually disagree with the comment of the day. A controller being more expensive than the games makes sense not only because it is expected to last you through a plethora of titles, it is supposed to offer some level of immersion - even a basic controller like the switch pro is designed to make your experience as smooth as possible on the platform you're on, but especially when it comes to certain features they currently have. It's not a hill I'd die on, and of course there should always be less expensive options available so as not to be prohibitive for anybody. My only gripe is with the pathetic battery life of current-gen controllers, which I understand comes hand-in-hand with the current-gen features.
Here's how you know Outlaws is going to be good. They let the press play it early. If it sells multiple millions of copies you can stick a fork in the "western developers are trash" argument, which never really made any sense to begin with.
Here in Mexico, when the Switch launched a pair of joycons were $120. Double the price of a game. And of course, joycons (one of the worst controllers ever which were highly defective at launch.) costed $70 each. I, like may others were not lucky enough to have them last a year without drift. Prices went down eventually, but everything felt like an early adopter tax the first 3 years of the Nintendo Switch.
SWEETBABY is doing Outlaws. GOTY written all over it. I don't even play Star Wars games but I played Alan Wake, God of War and Spider Man. I'll be really surprised if it flops. They have something to prove and I think this one will be a feather in thier cap.
I was excited about the idea of Outlaws, but I'm not anymore. The gameplay tells me it won't be much to this game. Just open space. I need them to work on Jedi 3

How about the current banking system that YOU are apart of? Banks are more of a scam than what crypto is. You put your money in the bank, the bank lends out your money for interest and in return you gain close to nothing on an annual basis. Not to mention why the Petroldollar deal is capitulating. The US financial system in itself is a scam. They print endless amounts of money and then can’t tell you why inflation is at an all time high and people like you fall for it without a fight in the world.
The whole saga with Seth Green having somebody steal his jpg of a monkey he was planning on building a new career around made the whole thing worthwhile.
Is bitcoin worthless now?
@@Omer_Sastim_is_turtle_botIt’s not and has its place. It’s just not in gaming and should frankly stay away.

The thing about NFTs being why they didn't renew the deal for Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, is that decision was likely made during the short-lived NFT craze back in 2021.
Ok so now we gonna act like we all be waiting on the new Olympic Games and we put over 50-100 hours in each of those titles right ? 🤦♂️ Yall gotta stop please stop already we all know those games aren’t on top of anybody’s lists 🤦♂️🤦♂️
As long as we're interested in sales, I'd like to note that Walmart (in the US) has the ACNH Nintendo Switch Lite for sale for $160 as an online-only price.
Yes! Been real tempted to pick one up myself along with the Hyrule edition
I'm kind of glad they are not having an Olympics Mario/Sonic game this time. It's definitely an Olympics I don't want to remember. But I'm also disappointed in a way that they are not doing them anymore.
This was the best year for Nintendo and Sega to decouple from those nasty freaks at the Olympics. Utter trash. Nintendo and Sega are probably both glad they dodged a bullet here.
Star Wars outlaws can be the best game of the year 10/10, and i still would not buy it, because i am not buying anything Ubisoft at all anymore, they want me to feel comfortable not owning their games, then im not gonna spend my money on their games.
Not only was it a big deal when Sonic and Mario teamed up, it was such a crazy notion that Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine once faked Sonic being in Smash Bros as an April Fools joke.
That was before you could just pop on the internet and fact check things, so people's minds were blown before they realized it was fake.
I still remember the best April Fools' joke EGM did, the Sheng Long in Street Fighter II joke. That one was great! But I also remember that the previous year was a joke that showed Simon Belmont (from Castlevania) in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game.
Bro the first mario and sonic came out in 2007. Maybe if it were like 1998 or something but by that time the internet was essentially the same as now just with flash 😂
@@G360LIVEOn another year they did one where they said if you beat Dead Or Alive Beach Volleyball in under a specific time limit it would unlock a nude mode.
Teenage Micah ran out and borrowed an XBOX from a friend and rented that stupid game and tried for hours to beat the game in under the time that the EGM said.
As I read and re-read the instructions in the magazine on how to do it, I suddenly realized it was the April issue and I'd been fooled again.
Fun times. Haha.
I am glad Mario and Sonic are not associated with the satanic ritualistic Olimpics anymore. Did you see Paris opening?! 🤮
I would’ve loved to see Mario and Sonic hanging out at my hometown Paris… but noooooo… the IOC thought I’d be smart to drop this unique niche game series for some Metaverse crap that BARELY got good traction.
Whoever gave the IOC that idea should be fired.
Could not care less for SW Outlaws. Dont give Ubishit your money. Aside from that, its looks generic and half assed.
An OLED VR headset for only $350 is a steal.

Nah. You can get an OLED smartphone for $150.
Wait, now that PSVR2 got a more reasonable price, people are buying it? I am shocked!
Scalpers
@@Darkstar301 Scalpers are just a fraction, but not the entire number of people buying this device. Call me crazy, but I don't think there are many people willing buy a peripheral device that cost as much as a console.
Good! Mario & Sonic don't belong at this sacrilegious Olympics
God is dead, and no one cares, if there is a hell, I'll see you there.

Looks like Game Pass is gonna replace Xbox
Already has. More gamepass users than there are xboxs. Big leap for the digital future.
N+SEGA should just offer DLC for Sonic & Mario Olympics 2020. As one of the two people who still play it, that would be a nice consolation prize.
Sorry I don't trust the gaming "journalists"

The IOC Made a HUGE MISTAKE.
More than one huge mistake. They had to purge their opening ceremony to try to damage control their mess. This ended three advertising contracts directly effecting their bottom line, and viewership is down because of all the people they offended.
IOC really messed up.
The organisers of the olympics refused to allow Mario and Sonic to be in a new game but agreed to allow some dude to show his bare nutsack to millions of viewers.

I call BS on the controller topic...old school controllers were MUCH more durable. Todays controllers have joystick drift, have terrible battery life & have expensive tech included that only a small portion of gamers use.
Old controllers had stick drift often, gamecube and n64 had those issues, they usually didnt have batterys on old controllers it was corded & when the cord broke you would have to get a new one (average people werent replacing cords) and each gen the tech changed and was considered expensive new tech, a joystick/analog stick was a huge deal in early years
If Xbox stops making high end consoles, Sony will start selling future PlayStations at $600 again. Maybe even $700-$800 😭. When we have no other options, I feel like Sony can just ask any price they want.

Incorrect numbers on the MS financials. Revenue was down 4% wothout abk. Also a major note is the software and services. Looking comparatively without the abk software, theyre up only 3%. Thats the segment where gamepass is counted. A very small increase after 3 quarters of ABK ownership. It isnt driving people to gamepass yet.

Mafia 3 needs a next gen update but fun game
Outlaws doesn't interest me much, and the general state of Star Wars isn't helping there. If we're going to have a non Jedi focused game then I wish they'd make a 3rd person bounty hunting game with something like the nemesis system, with lots of customization. it would be really fitting for that style of game.
They'd get a lot more interest from me if they were resurrecting Star Wars 1313.

There is something very off about the design of the Star Wars Outlaws chicks face

Like yeah there's games that use that stuff, but 90% of the time, it doesn't matter. So we keep being forced to get more expensive controllers with bells & whistles that we don't even need.
Ugh I bought my PSVR2 on release when it was selling for $599 😭

the Tokyo Olympics 2020 never happened, so the last Mario and Sonic Olympic games is a tie in to something that never existed.
A tie in game with no Olympics and an Olympics with no tie in game…
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

Why has it become popular to talk straight up negatively about Xbox? You really think they'll just stop making consoles after acquiring Bethesda and Activision/Blizzard? They're doing just fine.
I hope we get other kinds of Mario & Sonic crossover games.
All this stuff going on with Sony and Microsoft is why I built my own Gen 9 console, all in on what AMD, Linux and Steam have going on currently.

The Olympic Committee not being behind the times and making the objectively worst decision possible challenge: Impossible
Since we aren't getting more Mario & Sonic Olympics, can we have Mario & Sonic RPG instead?
That’s why the Xbox One did so terrible and yet Xbox did not fix this.
Let's be honest, Microsoft doesn't care if your system doesn't work in a decade, they care that your giving them money now, and quite frankly that's probably true for all 3 console manufacturers sadly
It's ironic the IOC broke ties with Sega and Nintendo since they're having the official Olympic E-Sports Games in 2025.
If the switch 2 is strong enough and as big of a success as the switch I could see Microsoft pushing for gamepass on it
They won't get GP on Switch.
Sony could make good and credit us that bought the vr2 at release with 200$ worth of games...
And that DRM is why I will never go out and buy an Xbox console. I might get it if I ever accure enough tickets at Dave and Buster's but that's about it.
The psvr2 thing is at the price it should of been to begin with
No Sonic Olympic game is a bummer in my household, I have three young girls and one of their favorite games is the one on the switch, would have been fun to bring home a new one
I don’t know who IOC is going to find to license to but you’d think with a successful franchise like Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, you’d do everything to keep that going. Greed is the cause of wonderful things diminishing.
When someone compares an Ubisoft game with RDR2.. you know the cheque arrived on time!!
I haven't bought a Ubisoft game in almost 10 years. Not even Star Wars could convince me to do so now. Especially since Star Wars is kinda cringe now.
