A great song by a great songwriter.And reviewed by a beautiful soul.Thank you Sarah!
This is one of the most prophetic songs ever written. Though this was written before Browne's first wife committed suicide (something I only recently learned), it reads as if it is a direct response to her death -- telling his son to be kind to her mother (now, in memory) if "something should take you from behind." The child was too young to understand what had happened but eventually would be old enough to be told.
David Lindley's violin is epic on this. RIP.

You have tapped into a gold mine, this entire album is wonderful, you can play any song from it. My personal favorites are "The Fuse" and "Your Bright Baby Blues".
While JB doesn't exude the energy of say The Boss, his songwriting is unbelievable. His messages are clear, his voice is amazing and his music touches your soul like few others. The messages of this song are all about you Sarah. Take good care of each other and be kind to one another. I used to play this for my own Mother. She would sing along with it. It brings a tear to my eye thinking of it. Thank you Sarah for the joy you bring to so many others here.
