  • Sometimes the Traxxas Revo 3.3 or Slayer Pro will rev and barely move. Or it may simply not move. This is generally the slipper clutch coming loose. Although, sometimes it could be the actual clutch.

    I have a three shoe clutch maid by Hot Racing on my nitro slash and I'm seriously thinking about adding to 3.3 Revo because it makes a big difference. Traxxas makes a really good learning machine.

    My revo had this problem and it was the slipper clutch the first time I got it fixed and tightened. I made a high speed run and it’s doing the same thing again but acting different like it’s slipping and not PLEASE HELP

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  2 года назад +1

      If it is not the slipper and it is not the clutch, check all four wheels. Remove them and make sure they did not round out in the hex area. That happened once to me.
      If that does not solve it, check the shafts to make sure they are all in good shape. Only one wheel has to be rounded or one shaft bad in order for it to do strange things such as wanting to run and slipping while the engine revs freely.

    What you say at 5:15 is literally a problem I’ve been chasing on my revo for like a week lol. I thought I was insane.
    Is the spring a common failure point? Is there upgrades for reliability I can look into or is the stock one generally fine? I’ve not even had a gallon through mine and that spring snapped.

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  7 месяцев назад

      I do not know about an upgrade unless you swap the flywheel for a 1/8 buggy system. I think what makes the spring the "weak link" is not the actual spring. I think it is the way the spring might be installed out of the factory. I have not had a spring fail on me that I have installed. I think sometimes they put the loops in the way of the shoes contacting the bell causing them to rub and wear.

    Hey, TelecomandoRC! I have a Traxxas Jato and it's having a quite same problem. When I rev the engine in the air, no issue, the tires blow and the 2º gear engages. Same when I put the car on the ground, the car moves with no problem. But, the thing is when I max accelerate on the ground, the car struggles to engage the 2º gear, while the enigne seems to wind freely in high revs, like without any friccion.
    I own this Jato for 2 years and never had this problem.
    The cluchshoes and the springs are fine. I teared down the shiftbox and everything is fine. I replaced the bearings and thigten the screws, flywheel, etc...
    Can u guess what is going on?

      It sounds like a tune issue: ruclips.net/video/_uI6cdEyQek/видео.html
      Try to richen it a little. If not, your crank bearing shields might be damaged and air may be getting sucked in through there leaning it out at high speeds.

      @@marcelocascaes2728 It's not really the bearings, but the power demand. Try tuning the carb first. It is probably that. But if it is hard to tune just right, and runs fast no load, it is usually a leak somewhere. At it is common for the leak to be in the crank case bearings.

    I just got into nitro. I bought a used revo 3.3, it constantly wants to run away at idle... is this a clutch issue, or a tuning issue? I unfortunately don't know anything about these. My mechanics background tells me clutch.
    Any suggestions would help, I wanna drive this thing for more than 10 minutes one day :(

    • @telecomandorc

      It is a tuning issue. The idle is too lean. Richen it a little.

    Hello my friend. This is great info. My new Slayer has arrived, I bought the sway bar kit, a spare body and a few different springs at the same time. Traxxas products are in very short supply in the UK, nitro even worse.

      Certainly. If you has questions, ask away. By the way, Traxxas supply is just picking up here too. Earlier this year there was a massive cold from there. Some of the corporate representatives in charge of supplying stock to US hobby shops were in hotels for some time because some houses had no power or water per my understanding.

    Maybe you can point me in the right direction before tearing this apart.. I got a used T-Maxx 2.5 in a trade and am trying to learn about these trucks. I got it running, replaced the clutch, tightened the slipper clutch all the way, and all the wheels move in the air, but only the front right wheel moves on the ground? So the truck is essentially one wheel drive, and will even do burnouts with that single front right wheel.

    • @telecomandorc
      @telecomandorc  2 года назад

      That is the strangest thing. I would first check the shafts to make sure they are all on correctly. Then I would check the bearings to the wheels and diffs to make sure they are move freely. The I would just open the diffs.
      I do have a series about the Tmaxx (this was a 2.5 but later upgraded to a 3.3... thus the 3.3). MAybe some of the information will be useful. Below is the first of an 8 part series:
