Korvapuusti=cinnamon roll. Very very common in Finland and Sweden.

Yes, the Old European Charm excludes E.g. The Eiffel Tower. It was opened in 1889, which makes it super-modern and slick. He must have been thinking of medieval and earlier stuff with that Old World Charm. Making things up as he went. Finland is actually known for architecture and design. It's one tourist attraction alone: "15 Must-See Architecture in the City Centre of Helsinki, Finland" and "Finland Vlog: Exploring Helsinki and Alvar Aalto's House and Studio!". In general, you shouldn't set out to find positive or negative things just to make a video of them, if you're going to have hard time finding them. Another approach probably works better. Also, if you are around 60 year old guy, your list of things if probably going to be a bit different than someone else's, which is good keep in mind. E.g. this guy traveled to Helsinki just to visit the Linnanmäki amusement park, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Finland: "Coaster Studios Linnanmäki Review | Finland's Largest Amusement Park". Helsinki as a capital is more expensive than the rest of the country, but E.g. the prices of berries depend also on, which point of the berry season it is. Also, the prices are higher in the tourist area, which is what he was showing. Reindeer isn't something Finnish people in Helsinki eat as their every day food. That's why you don't find many reindeer joints there. Finding public saunas in Helsinki definitely is as easy as making an internet search. Coming to Helsinki with a ship one can most likely spot saunas before docking. Also, January and February are the best winter months to visit Finland, if somebody wants to see snow, ice and real winter-like some do. It's winter when the air sparkles when the humidity in the air freezes and the sunlight illuminates it. Mid-January there's already more daylight. November is the greyest and darkest month and probably the worst month to to visit Finland. E.g. here's a happy tourist, who visited the Suomenlinna Fortress during winter: "Suomenlinna Fortress in Winter - Unesco World Heritage Site FINLAND". December is already a Christmas month, the month when Finland's independence day takes place, there's the New Year celebrations etc.. Some travel north just to see the Norther Lights. And the sauna experience during the winter is a tourist attraction on its own. Something which most of the people in the world haven't experienced: "SI ERES LATINO NO VENGAS AQUÍ | EN FINLANDIA". .

in videos about helsinki you only see the centre of the city which is obviously not that modern, but 99% of the city outside of the center is built after 60's bc finland urbanised late so thats probably why it seems more modern than other european cities

Wolter is American, he is good, really good but still. However your experience of Finland probably is very different. You are European and more Finnish-like ( Italians often are ).
Old vibes, darkness, and overall he is listing different stuff you are probably noticing. So Helsinki - Tampere - Turku it is then (Turku nbeing Old). Winter time coldness and darkness is better experience northern since it is dryer there - which is good. Put up the collection and purchase the tickets with the donations ;D

About the darkness: In Helsinki there is a dark period of three months of less than eight hours of daylight. That in itself is not so bad - the bad thing is if there is no snow during that time, and that is fairly usual in my home city. Thus, the worst months of the year are, in my opinion, November to February, especially if there is no snow. With snow - like last winter - it wasn't really bad at all.
Thus, the problem in Helsinki really is that it usually is too warm to have a "real winter".

Yes, it's not that bad. People tend to say we have 6 months darkness even in Helsinki, which is totally untrue. Darkest period is around the Christmas when sun rises at 9.26 (not 10.30 like said on the video). By the end of February Helsinki already have same amount of daylight as London. 1st of November Helsinki have only on hour less daylight than London.

I went once into Kiasma and they had as a modern art piece literal pile of literal human feces and that was enough of modern art for me for a lifetime.

05:15 Well Helsinki is been capital of finland only little over 200 years, before that it was just some random town, original capital is Turku but Tsar of Russia decided move capital, also Turku had great fire in 1827, only 27% of the city survived.
It is not known when Turku was granted city status. Pope Gregory IX first mentioned the town of Aboa in his Bulla in 1229.
And well murricans have weird exceptions of whole Europe.

helsinki is the most important city of finland and also the center of finnish culture. Moving the capital from the swedish city was one of the few good things russia did.
btw turku is only the 6th biggest city in finland

Finland is not that expensive. Only little more than Italy. It's expensive only if you compare like USA. At least I think that. Helsinki is little more expensive than rest Finland, but not much.
If you want to see real finnish culture and native Finn's, go somewhere else than Helsinki.
In summer, you should go Turku archipelago or Hanko. Or to Eastern Finland or Ostrobothnia. Rural areas in Finland have the most life and events in the summer, because Finns spend their summer holidays there in cabins. There you will meet ordinary Finns in a happy atmosphere and extremely beautiful nature.

And the real sauna experience happens in country as well. Because real sauna experience you need sauna, that warms up with wood, not with electric. And you need that lake or sea after that. If you like to sauna like Finn's do. Electric saunas just aren't the same.

Huomenta😊 I like what you say , I don't like electric saunas , rather use shower only ..I am grown up in the countryside Eastern Finland, had wooden sauna lakes near which I used to it,,totally different than electric sauna..and yes real finnish culture outside of Helsinki..thank you ....kiitos ❤🇫🇮

Foodwise it's a weird thing in Finland that everything that's local is usually more expensive than imported stuff. Makes no sense at all.

I think the "Old European Style" is more of the layout and some of the buildings in Helsinki which makes it seem more modern, obviously some of the buildings still look like 1960's Europe but if you compare it to like the Gamla Stan (old town) in Stockholm, Sweden. It is completely different feeling even through the pictures, narrow winding roads and alleys, tall thinner very colourful buildings, whereas Helsinki is more like a efficient and easy to navigate, mainly duller coloured buildings, more modern layout in the city, if you look at the streets on like Google Maps and compare Helsinki to Gamla Stan you can see the difference in the way the buildings are placed which make the Old Town of Sweden seem more packed and busy

Modern shopping centers are more like American malls. You've seen one of them, you've seen them all. You can't really call them a tourist attraction. Not many locals like them either unless they are busy parents who spend all of their time at home or teenagers who don't have any other place to spend their time.
