I will put it like this. In 2021 I barely knew anything about the series other than Le Mans. In 2022, I decided to watch a bit of the Le Mans race live, but I wasn't paying much attention to the rest of the races in the championship. In 2023, I've followed the whole championship from start to finish and watched a good portion of it live. Now for the upcoming 2024 season, I have bought a ticket for one of the races and plan on watching every race. Of course, one person does not make for much of a sample, but it's an illustration of how the decisions made by the FIA and ACO have made this championship a lot more appealing to follow to people who previously weren't fans of the series.
Somehow after becoming heavily addicted to sim racing i happened to come across the 2023 24HR Leman race video. It took me a few days but i watched the whole thing and i enjoyed every minute. I'll say one of the reasons i was soo into it would have to be the commentary. Martin Haven and Anthony D together do an excellent job calling races and keeping the viewer both informed and entertained. I really enjoy listing to those 2. I then went back and watched all the races from this season to catch me up. I'll probly be setting time aside next year to watch all the events live and perhaps one day i'll be able to attend one live in person. Definitely looking forward to what next season has for us.
This year's Le Mans was LEGENDARY. Completely full Hypercar class with FIVE new cars on the grid and the NASCAR entry being faster than the entire GTE field to boot.
To be honest, it was a real surprise that Toyota won both championships. They started in Sebring with a huge ballast already, then getting nuked with literally around 50kg of ballast at lemans like 3 days before the event and then having atleast 40kg onboard after that. No wonder that Ferrari, Porsche etc with way way less bop penalty drive on pace with Toyota. Without bop Toyota would have wiped the floor with everyone. And don’t forget the hybrid penalty! Peugeot and the LMDH could use the hybrid boost at 150kmh, Ferrari and Toyota at 190 km/h! So no wonder that the others were so competitive when you penalize the best team to the moon for being good. Imagine Redbull running 50kg ballast of penalty in F1!
You said a lot of bullshit. They added 10 kg to Toyota before Le Mans, and the difference with Ferrari was around 4 kg. The hybrid penalty was the same for Toyota and Ferrari at 190 km/h. Also, Ferrari had 5 KW of power less than Toyota in Le Mans which is WAY worse than having some kg added since it's mainly straights. Toyota propaganda is really something else
@@thekrieg4251 not really. Toyota ran with a total weight of 1080kg in lemans. Ferrari with 1060. Toyota got +40kg compared to spa the race before in Lemans. Ferrari got 24kg.
I think that if they refine the BOP, ensure the sustainability and life of the class for years to come, we're in for a great time. Hopefully it lasts as long as possible.

Loved revisiting all the key moments of the season. Many thanks to the three of you, great stuff!
Cool to see you doing such a big show Steph. You've come a long way since RUclips videos during COVID. Congratulations 👍
as always, woke up to this playing in the background, love it.
Also Pier-Guidi's laps in the wet at might at LM, way faster.

That's why BOP is great for WEC.
Super GT has a "success ballast" and their racing is spectacular. BOP works but in very select series.

WHAT IS BOP?

WEC@COTA should be as big as the F1 race.
Sadly it wont be.
Tickets are way cheaper, cars more accessible, traffic wont be as bad.
less budget for marketing
I mean WEC at Cota hasn't really been an annual event for the past hundred years so...
Lets get one thing straight. If it aint that illegal BOP change at le mans, It would have been a Toyota whitewash
WHat is BOP???
the week link at toyota was Hirakawa they should have let hartley and or buemi drive at the end, i would axe hirakawa and replace with another driver
good luck axing a japanese driver from a japanese team
Which WEC team will Max Verstappen be driving for in 2029? 😎 AND who will his teammates be?
He's already said he wants to do Le Mans with Alonso some day
