I have the 900 from Costco for a year now. Initially had a failed controller. MB replaced under warranty. No issues since. No fan switches failed,etc... I have LSS Mods as well. Freaking love this thing! I got the MB Portable with Cart for under $100 on sale as well. I am using the Portable more and more this year with BnB orange bag briquettes and various wood chunks. Love both of them! love all your videos in THE LAND OF GRILLS!
I can tell from your review you don't use it often, 3x-a-week user for 2+ years mine took a lot of repairs/bypass to keep it going but love it. Some of the best/easiest smoked meat I've made.
@rickcormier9160 Thanks for watching Rick! Obviously at first it was used pretty heavily, that has dyed off. But now that the CG is gone usage should increase
Ive got the 1050 for about 4 years and used hard. Only mod was convert to battery. Definitely showing its age and kept oitside on my carport with the cover. Would love to see ya do a review on a yoder pallet
Tom trying to choose btwn this and the RecTec RT-B380X. Need very hot but also some smoking too. Rec gets to 1000°F while the 1050 gets to 700°F. Is that overkill? Also, whats more economical pellets or charcoal? As always, thank you!!🎉
The question you missed is Charcoal or Pellet? Both have very different smoke profiles with pellets being light to medium and charcoal being medium to heavy. Both do well for searing, Gravity does better at low and slow. Rec Tec has the controller
My only negative thing Tom, The smoker looks like its had bugger all usage.. to be fair.. Online there are Soooo many BAD reviews it isn't funny - mainly Rust issues, the wall of the hopper burning holes in it etc
Sad to hear the Char Griller has been exiled from the Land of Grills. It makes to banish the 980 since Middleby has assigned Gravity Grills to Masterbuilt- why review it!
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ The rear vent mod is 100% klotes. LSS' has one that lifts up and down and it does not slide. Also, the charcoal grate is Klotes too. LSS' doesnt have the fan protector - the combo is Klotes. Informative video regardless!
Great review. I just picked up a 1050 at Home Depot for $440. That's about half off the original price
That’s a great Deal! Congrats!

Masterbuilt and Chargriller grills are unique and work great initially. I am curious how many times Tom has used his grill over the past three years.
Thanks for watching

Tom, I too keep my 1050 in my garage and has really held up great. It is a tank that really works great.
Thanks for Watching Curtis! Appreciate the feedback and support!

This is a very comprehensive review Tom. Great job! I can't think of any other feature I'd have a question about.
Thanks Ted!
In the process of a move here so took out the portable unit today. Still a great machine. My 800 still needs to make the move
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy!
I love my 1050, it has all of Luke's mods and grill grates made by Joe Victor at Joe's Grill Grates and always kept in the garage
Thanks for watching!
Nice review. I remember the blue grill. Happy 4th Tom🎉🎉
Thanks Eric! The blue turned out very nice! Thanks for remembering….

The XT just came out. It looks like a significant improvement in both design and quality of parts.
Thanks for Watching! Time will tell….

Off topic where did you get that moon shaped side for your weber kettle?
Thanks for watching James! Made by Weber for 2 years in the 80’s
How many Briskets at one time can you do? Also how many pork butts? Thank you for your videos!!
Thanks for watching! Obviously it all depends on size of the brisket or butt.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ a normal 12ish pound brisket? What do you think?
@drakem33 yes, at least 2
Great video
Thanks for Watching!
You need to test out the lone star grillz el patron or their pellet smoker
Thanks for Watching! Yes I do…

Thanks for watching! Was really looking forward to the CG 2.0, but unfortunately that won’t happen
