Remember - Steve Young was considered a bust in Tampa after 2 seasons and traded to the 49ers. Young had a 55% completion rate and an 11 to 21 td/int ratio. Young looked terrible but Walsh turned him into something special. Will this happen with Wilson? Probably not, but it is possible to see someone blossom under the right tutelage.
Good point huh huh huh
Did know that about Young! This is exactly I think this is a good move. It’s a cheap shot at first round talent. Maybe he grows and becomes great, maybe not. But paying a 6th round pick for a chance is easy to afford.
As a jet fan, I am someone who saw every snap Wilson has had as a pro. Ppl love to dump on the kid and it’s obnoxious imo. If the jets had ANY sense, they would have known he wasn’t ready to start. He should have sat at least a yr bc of footwork and mechanical issues. He made a giant jump with that last yr and had a career high in comp % with 60.1%. Not great but his offense was horrific half of it was replaced within the first two weeks of FA. I couldn’t be more disappointed in how the coaching staff handled him and that he is gone. I don’t like the broncos wr situation but I LOVE the idea of Payton coaching him up. I am pulling HARD for Zach and I think he is going to surprise some ppl. If you think I’m crazy check out highlights from jets vs the chiefs, raiders, and Texans. There is something there.
Give it a chance Sean Payton is the quarterback whisperer
Why so negative
And they took absolutely no risk whatsoever. It's almost like they got a 2nd overall pick in the 7th round essentially.
Appreciate it feels like the exact same headlines as last year.
I agree with James on Wilson
A home run??? Geesh. A little overhype here, folks. The new unis and the Wilson announcement aren't the kind that crack a city in two. Both are risky. Unis make them look like a bad arena league team. Zach? Another example of sifting through NFL trash bins. Denver needs blockbuster moves. Remember the trade for Elway and the signing of Manning. That stuff!!
I hope the kid succeeds. At this point (as a Broncos fan), I have learned to expect disaster, but who knows; maybe a miracle happens.
I'm not going to make a judgement on the kid until I see film of him in Payton's offense.
Gosh the host is so negative it's unbearable to watch
For real. It was cringing to watch this video. Again, Broncos have NOTHING to lose with this trade and seeing what Sean Payton can do with his talents.
I'll keep saying it. Wilson is only 9mos older than Nix, 6mos older than Penix, so to saying he can't be coached up or wouldn't have an advantage over the others given his experience is misguided
That said, easy to cut if it doesn't pan out. He's a camp arm and potentially a cheap backup
love to go bk and see this guys thoughts when we traded for the first wilson. instant gratification man for sure. the second wilson cost nothing and who knows more darts at qb borad better you are
Wrong!
Zach Wilson during his freshman year at BYU had two wins against tough teams, Tennessee Vols and USC Trojans.
Javonte literally looked like Trent Richardson last year and the numbers were nearly identical. He’s not as good as people think
A guy plays for a historically bad team for three years and he is "cooked" good lord
Can't wait to see a healthy Javonte this year!!
Courtney Brown went 1st overall too I think
I’m not giving up on the number 2 overall pick who needed 2-3 years of sit n watch with a ton of talent he’s the most talented WB Payton has had since Bree’s really
I agree with the caller about 60/40 that Zach has a chance (40). and to be clear about the draft class Zach was in Trevor lawrence has done nothing since he joined the NFL. I do not believe he will ever win a Super Bowl with the Jags. You heard it here first. Also Caleb Willams will be a bust. His attitude and demands will dump him.
That one who thinks Zach Wilson is going to start is a joke he’s a backup draft a quarterback we don’t need anymore retread quarterbacks
"He went 2 because that quarterback class was trash." Alright captain hindsight. Yeah, the class has absolutely disappointed. But do not pretend like that wasn't the one of the most hyped quarterback classes. When a class is seen as having no talent you get Kenny Pickett in the second half of the first round and nothing else, not QBs at 1 2 3 and then Falcons fans upset Fields didn't go 4.
Dont know why they got wilson in we have a backup getting paid 10 million a year this made no sense
No, no he can not.
This guy is unwatchable. Go sell insurance.
Thumbs down for this host. Zach Wilson has been in the league 4 years? No it’s 3 years goofy this is year 4 coming up with the broncos
