I ran the 83 marathon screamed on Lasse Viran and lived on Suomenlinna. I love the place. I know live in Miami but my memories never fade Great work Love Michael .
I also live in Miami and would love to visit Helsinki. Don't think I could live there at this stage, I've been wussified by the weather in South Florida. I don't even own a heavy jacket anymore.
Just left Suomi on Feb 28th. Damn i love that place. Its my 6th trip there and this winter was not so white in Feb. Moving there in the next year. Fabulous City!!

Helsinki is NOT just cold and grey….It is clean...green..and VIBRANT! I wonder what it would be like covered in snow? WAY nice I’ll bet! Buildings seem to have windows everywhere, to bring outside….IN! …Even the featured hotel.... (a prison!).... has clean lines and nature all around…..The city has an outdoor sea pool! I loved the aerial ride tour of Helsinki! PLUS…..I was charmed by the ‘Local” vibe you presented! COULD OSLO EVER BE THIS COOL??

Did you know that Alvar Aalto designed the "kidney" shaped swimming pool? So in doing so, he had a big influence in the skateboarding scene. One of his friends from the U.S. wanted one and then the design spread across California. I believe it was in the late 70's when California had a drought and the swimming pools were emptied, skaters occupied them and experienced something that would change the scene forever.

I have lived all my life in Helsinki near the downtown (Kallio district) and yes, it's one of the most coziest places to be. Two warnings though: 1) it's not cost-friendly 2) weather is shit every other day.

I think you visited in Finnish orthodox church. There is a russian orthodox church , but small. By the way Finland is a Lutheran ( protestant) country. A big part of finns are members of Lutheran church as all the other Nordic countries.

Finland was a part of Sweden over 600 years and got most of it's culture and sivilization through that. The Nordic countries are: Finland 🇫🇮 Sweden 🇸🇪 Norway 🇸🇯 Denmark 🇩🇰 and Iceland 🇮🇸 All of them are members of Nordic council and cooperating with each others. Finland particularly with Sweden. The only difference is the language.
It's funny, I was actually in a music video that was filmed in Hotelli Rantapuisto. It is truly a beautiful place, I feel really lucky to be able to live in East Helsinki.
The Rock Church had a lot of opposition against it because it was such an expensive project for both the city and the congregation. 10 years after it opened it had made back it's building cost in post card sales alone.

@@EileenAldis it's an island filled with old buildings from all over Finland. They have reduild them exactly as they were on, say, Lapland or in a village in Easter Finland. It's unique and beautiful, very natural island that is connected to the main land by a bridge

@@justskip4595 Wrong. Finland is a Nordic country like other scandinavian countries are. Not much differences. Finland was a part of Sweden over 600 years and got most of it's culture and sivilization through that. The Nordic countries are: Finland 🇫🇮 Sweden 🇸🇪 Norway 🇸🇯 Denmark 🇩🇰 and Iceland 🇮🇸
All of them are members of Nordic council and cooperating with each others. Finland particularly with Sweden.
The only difference is the language.
It's funny, I was actually in a music video that was filmed in Hotelli Rantapuisto. It is truly a beautiful place, I feel really lucky to be able to live in East Helsinki.

The Rock Church had a lot of opposition against it because it was such an expensive project for both the city and the congregation. 10 years after it opened it had made back it's building cost in post card sales alone.
Wow, that's interesting to hear. I'm sure it was a huge expense and risk at the time. Glad they went for it and happy it literally paid off for them.

Wow, so many cool things to do and see there that are new since I was there. The hotels look great, especially the older one that looked like the 50's. Like the various food markets as well. Not sure about the salmon roll though...

@@EileenAldis it's an island filled with old buildings from all over Finland. They have reduild them exactly as they were on, say, Lapland or in a village in Easter Finland. It's unique and beautiful, very natural island that is connected to the main land by a bridge
