NOTE: I noticed (after publishing) that I said "paternity leave" instead of "maternity leave" multiple times between 08:30 - 09:38, but have not edited this in the video, please just note that this was an honest mistake 😅
This was helpful beyond words. Being a woman going for her PhD and also wanting to have children, this topic makes me super concerned. No one touches on this, so I appreciate your take on it. Thank you❤.
i love your channel so much! i just watched like 10 of your videos because i’m 15 and really interested in pursuing a career in biomed and really wanted to learn more about it!
Try medical communication agencies. You can work as a medical writer or account executive helping pharma with publications. Companies include oxford pharmagenesis, nucleus global, apothecom, and Fleischman Hillard.
I am a Biology student and i also love chemistry 🧪⚗️ yr vlogs and videos motivate me. I also want to work in laboratory. And now I also added in yr youtub family.Love ❣️💙 from India 🇮🇳🙏👍😊
Can you please guide me a bit into joining a uk university for masters in biomed sci?? I'm from india, recently graduated highschool and would probably pursue my bachelor's here in biomed sci or biotechnology
I personally think that STEM can lack stability bc it is constantly evolving. But depending on the history of how well funded a lab group is, it might give you a better sense of security! Most academic positions are contract based as your salary is usually paid from a grant. Though biotechs are generally more secure (with you usually being offered a permanent position), there are also many cases of people getting laid off in the recent economy (this is just what I've observed from colleagues in big biopharma companies and also smaller start ups completely shutting down).
to my knowledge, not really. a lot of institutions and larger biopharma companies tend to advertise their postings on more general job search platforms like jobs.ac.uk or indeed. for many biotechs (and biopharmas at times), you usually need to go to the company website to find any job openings. LinkedIn would be my best recommendation to get a range of academia/industry job notifications!
Not necessarily if you have had some basic lab experience as part of your undergrad! Part of an MSc in a biomed-related subject tends to be lab placement anyways.

How's the job security in academia? Is a tenure a must?

Can we do MD after bs biomedical science in America?
Definitely yes
Is there a specific way/website where we can filter jobs in academia vs industry

Please do Biomedical scientist wear scrubs
By jobs in academia you mean Lab jobs within a university?
And by industry you mean lab jobs for a larger company?
that's usually the case, yes! sometimes there can be overlaps, like spin offs or some institutes that collaborate with universities
I have a bsc in microbiology and I'm planning on doing an Msc in biomedical science, do you think it's important to do a placement year?
Not necessarily if you have had some basic lab experience as part of your undergrad! Part of an MSc in a biomed-related subject tends to be lab placement anyways.
@@biomedwithvy Thank you 😊
