When I heard that I was thinking "It's pronounced Ree-yook!" But then I heard Ryuk correct him later on so at least they got that one little part right.

Kaylee Navarro Maybe because L was known for his pale skin in the anime. He was the only (almost unhealthy) pale person and now he`s the only one that`s black all of a sudden. It`s not about a problem with black people in general but the studio fucking everything up.

@@kayleenavarro242 for stories it’s important to know that any little thing can literally change the story. Follow the story to the T for what made the story what it is. Gender, race, religion, sexuality, etc. it’s what made these characters the character they were from the start.

They make Light into a stupid teen that just seeks revenge, while he's originally a smart son with no seeming family issues but just oversensitive to the society and everything around him and has a twisted sense of justice (like a god complex too that developed because he fell into his twisted thoughts and ways from attaining just a powerful object, it completely shattered that wall keeping him in normality, which they seemed to completely leave out of the movie.) He's basically mentally ill in the original series, but the movie gives him basic teenage emotions that every dumb American teen has, and an issue that would make anyone turn out like him. Light is different, as I said he's practically mentally ill by the way he acts on things and thinks in the movie, yet there's a small amount of human that makes him relatable while those with faster and smarter brains (unlike the typical American teen) feels an eerie relation to him even though it's completely obvious that he's twisted and unnatural. It's all so stupid and angering. I would get into more about the setting and Misa but I seriously don't feel like writing it out. It's just simple, they turned a super smart and daring series into something so simple like teenage horror romance shit. It sickens me to just think about how I even watched the movie in the first place. I want to compliment it in some way but it's just impossible, even if I never read the manga (or watched the anime) I would still stay away from Death Note because the movie was just that bad and simple, it doesn't make you think and just throws the same old concepts back at you that you see everywhere in Hollywood movies. But I guess it would be pretty good to some people and I would be O.K. with it if the anime and manga never existed.. it's just the fact that it's completely different and turned into something so simple that makes me angry with it.
Every time I watch remakes of really good shows, it ends up horrible. I didn't expect Death Note to be such a tragedy.

Light Yagami was a classy sociopath, and a very cunning person. Like did Netflix even research the manga/anime? Misa was a loyal follower who took every order Light directed at her with promises of his love (see cunning) I just can't with this movie. I don't know what to say about L... it's like he was there put not? The actor's mannerisms was like he was trying to imitate anime L's characteristics (like how he jumped onto that chair) instead of adapting in into real life.

I don't really mind the change of settings, or the increase in gore, but really messing with key story points, events, and characters (so literally everything else) is what ruined it for me.
I tried to do 15 mins of it...couldn't do it. It would have been different for me if this was INSPIRED BY and the characters name were different but they used the same names, PLUS the notebook. It's like they only watched 4 episodes of the anime and said ''Okay now we know what Deathnote is all about!!'' No....huge fail for Netflix. Also what's so sad about this, if someone DOES decide to do Deathnote right in the future, we'll have to wait 5-6 years down the line for this one to fade from memory.
Only Ryuk and how the deaths were done were intriguing,

Literally when i saw the first 3 min. Of the death note movie i was hearthbroken just bad , only people would agree with me if you saw the whole series especially if you saw it more than 2x
Nothing new. Of course it took place in America, of course they didn't get any Asian actors. It's just like The Avatar, no Asian actors even though they are Asian characters. I hated the movie they changed everything I loved about the original.
There were asian actors in the live-action Avatar movie. They were just reserved for the bad guys, which somehow makes it worse.

Watari is L's closest companion, he's suppose to know his real name. I think that was one of the dumbest changes in the movie, making Watari go to Wammy's House to "find his name".

It’s crazy because his reaction to seeing Ryuk would have been perfectly reasonable if we didn’t have THE Light react so calmly and cooly lol.
Not only did they change the rules, but they straight up added rules. Like, "Your death can be prevented if you burn the Death Note page with your name on it in a certain amount of time," but in the anime the rule is SPECIFICALLY, "that once a name is written in the Death Note their death CANNOT be reversed." So they pretty much just retconned the rules to work with the already wonky plot.

1.they threw "if another person touches the book or page they can see ryuk" out of the window and just have only "light" see him no matter what
