You'll probably want to have the body mounts for the legs. In my experience with awnings on RVs, it is a lot more convenient and sturdy setup than having them on the ground. It's essentially a large sail on the side of your vehicle and you need some rigid structure to keep it from bending in a gust of wind.
That’s huge 👍🏼 I have the 8x8 ARB lighted awning with the add a room on my Tundra, with a SlumberJack awning and screen room coming off the rear. We sleep in the bed of my truck on a memory foam after an incident with bears running into our tent last July
