  • It is now 4 months since I removed the catalytic converter from my Triumph Scrambler 1200XE. Has it made a difference?

Good to know as I am considering buying a Scrambler XC. Thanks. 👍

I concur Simon. Everything you said is spot on. I let the cat out the bag and the heat doesn’t bother me whatsoever now. I’m loving the 1200 high power unit. The engine sings in 3rd gear at the NSL pulling 5000rpm. The only gripe I have is I’m only getting 150miles out of a full tank.

Nice video. I did these things as well with similar results. Mine is a 2022, so I didn't have the same heat issue but my wife did when riding with me. Changed to a k&n filter, removed the snorkel and swapped to arrow exhaust to remove the cat. Fuel mileage seemed to improve slightly, my wife no longer has the heat issue and as you said the response seems to be a bit more lively. Thanks again

That was my number one question. I desperately want to get a 1200XC, but worried about my wife being uncomfortable on the back.

I did this to my 2019 a few days ago and from my limited riding so far, I would have to agree with what is said in this video. Only note is the contents of the converter was tack welded in and didn't come out without some effort. Thanks again for the origional video. Cheers.

I swapped the exhaust on my 2022 with one from a 2019. I am still running the stock air filter and snorkel, but I have noticed many of the same benefits of not having a cat that you discovered. Less heat and weight. Slightly better sound and performance. To me it is perfect.

      Hi,
how long do I have to run it at idle after the conversion (mapping) ?
and how do I know if the process is complete ?
      Merci

@@patrickhottel6562 supposedly you can let it idle for 20 minutes to do a remap. I’m just just riding it and letting it remap according to how I ride. Should take about 100 miles.

Have a 2019 Scrambler 1200 XC, and I installed the Free Spirits H pipe to decat, high flow air filter, removed the snorkel and swapped out the stock exhaust for a British Customs Shotgun pipes. On the fence if I should spring for a retune or not as the cherry on top… but no complaints with performance, heat or sound changes from these mods.

      Hi brother,
I have the XE model with the (loud) BC Customs Shotgun exhaust as well: did de-cat made the exhaust even louder?

    • @dmunro91
      @dmunro91 9 месяцев назад

@@martincaria8737 I never ran the BC Shotgun without the de-cat, so I can’t say how big the change was. But I live in a dense urban neighbourhood in a city of 6+ million people, and never had anyone complain to me about excessive noise.
Short shifting through residential areas and limiting my engine braking are ways I avoid being too loud.

Great info, and makes me want to decat my bike as well. One question… what helmet are you wearing? It seems so quiet and the audio from you speaking while riding is great!

Ha Ha. You should hear the raw audio! The sound quality comes from my audio processing software, which is called Fairlight. It is part of the DaVinci Resolve studio package (the professional version, not the free version). What it can do is incredible. It has AI which can identify and boost or isolate vocals.

I have a 2023 Triumph Scrambler 1200. Will the Zard Exhaust slip-ons (no cat) fit properly on this bike? I'd like to not purchase the Euro 5 version of the Zard slip-ons.
    Thank you.
