Already mentioned, but I'll add my 2cents. I am a medical professional and can say that there is no available information that G10 and fibreglass causes illness like silicosis, pulmonary fibrosis, mesothelioma etc, etc. BUT, BUT, BUT, I believe it pays to be cautious. I have been working with G10 for many years and keeping the surface wet is a great way to reduce the airborne particles, and increase the effectiveness of your abrasives.
Back in the day when I threw caution to the wind, I found that working G10 (and many other materials) without a respirator or mask, or wet at least, would lead to localised irritation and rashes on the skin, similar to what fibreglass insulation does. The rash can last weeks to a couple of months !! The itchiness and bright red rash was enough to convince me to wear long sleeves, a respirator, ventilate my workshop area, work it wet and wash everything after every workshop visit.
Be safe... so you can play longer.
Great show! As a blacksmith and knifemaker, I haven't used G10, but was always careful when working with a variety of Micarta. I figured that out because as a surfer who made his own boards, repaired them, knew those risks when sanding. Thanks for letting people know, and not worry so much unless they are grinding, sanding themselves!
G10 and micarta are safe for the user, but for the knife maker who grinds, shapes and sands G10 & micarta, there is a definate safety hazard in breathing the dust from working with these materials. There is a danger of formaldehyde and glass fibers, but the material MUST be worked, ground, sanded for the particles to enter the atmosphere and then be breathed in.
Just carrying a knife with G10 or micarta scales in your pocket is not a health hazard...everything is sealed in the hardened and cured resin. I would definitely not worry about the toxicity of the handle material, especially when we are breathing in auto exhaust fumes, second hand cigarette smoke, and factory smoke stack particles which are a much more immediate danger to our health.
In short, if you are not cutting or grinding the materials, then you should be OK.
Edit:- Repeated for the sake of those who need to be reassured 😉.
I've ground down and chamfered G10/Micarta/Carbonfiber for 15-20 years and I'm fine. 😂
@@N3wbMa5t3r :- Cancer often takes about 20 years after exposure to show itself.
COPD on the other hand can become an obvious health concern after only a few years or less of exposure.
It's never too late to start proper safety measures... a dust mask while grinding/sanding G10, micarta and natural materials such as bone or antler is a good way to protect oneself.
Ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight can get into all the tiny spots that are impossible to clean by hand. Great for pistols too.
Hol up, harbor freight probably has better prices than Amazon or eBay for the same item. How much do they run?
Yes
Man I love watching your videos. You really know what you're talking about, and you don't annoy me. Thanks David
Love the Lion Steel knife but no way would I pay $250 for D2 and G10
HA! Exact! If the added $200.00 on price is not because of the name Lion Steel, what the heck is it? 😏
Benchmade's Redoubt comes to mind.
@@Zx2Solomon at least it's usa made. But yeah, definitely overpriced
@@stickyedge7113 it has a plastic handle... Just gimme G10 instead.
But yes the fact that it's made here gives it points, but it's still brand tax.
@@Zx2Solomon Its also CPM-D2, which is better than regular D2, but I agree with the sentiment that I would never pay that much for D2.
Have that 20CV banter with the purple handle, love it. Easily my favorite EDC for basic tasks.
I agree Ben "banters" design ethos is bang on. The full size is great, I personally prefer the "baby banter" two similar but very different knives, Uber practical and yet super fun fidgety.
Herbie Husker - Chaparral is beautifully thin. Disappears in the pocket. Feels elegant in the FRN - just crisp construction. I really loved it - but I didn't keep it because I got a Sage 5 LW. I would suggest you look at the Sage 5 LW as a more close comparison to the Banter - it is thicker than the Chaparral, fills the hand better, gives you full 5 fingers grip - and the back lock is way more fun than a liner lock.
I use Ballistol multi-purpose oil to clean G10 scales on my knives. It is really helpful...
Just got a WE Banter (green micarta). Love it. Love it. Love it.
Hey DCA, Seth and Thomas. You have mentioned stripping the Esee Izula coating in the past could you advise on the best way to protect the blade moving forward I'm referring to the 1095 version. Many thanks
I would say the " Ontario rat 1" is the most featured knife in various segments.
Hello DCA and Thomas! I’m fairly new to serious knife collecting and have made a lot of great, informed additions to my collection from your videos including the FAQ’s. In catching up with some recent past videos, I grabbed a Camillus LK6 at a local big box retailer! It doesn’t seem to be available any more and they honored the expired price label $14.97 for the 440 stainless version! New price for everyone else is now $ 21.00 bucks! I LOVE finding deals and this one feels more like a STEAL; love the knife! Thanks again! Keep up with BUDGET vids! Times are hard my friends! ☮️👍
Only commenting on knives would make this thing I so enjoy, eventually disappear. Thanks so much for all y’all do!!! We need it more than ever in these seemingly bleak times!!! Cheers!
I am lefthanded but like to carry my folding knives in my right pocket. The reason being having the pocket clip on the right means I avoid hot spots.
As such I open my knives with both hands (usually the left). I see knives like the K-Bar Dozier and even Cris Reeve Knives with a thumb stud only on one side.
Can any thumb studs that I buy separately be fitted to these knives? I am more interested in the K-Bar because I won't be forking out anytime soon for a Sebenza.
Hi DCA and T. I have a Condor mini Duku that I love, but what is it? A big knife? A chopper? A small machete? Is it like a schrodinger's blade that is what you decide it to be on the moment? Or a reverse tanto even?!
Kitchen Lawn Dart. Just brilliant!
Just picked up the distrib exclusive delica, and pre ordered the dragonfly tattoo! Thanks for keeping things sharp!
Thanks for all the great content! I was wondering what you and the crew would consider your favorite reverse flicking knives. I'm quite a newbie when it comes to the reverse flick. I somewhat recently bought a Civivi Odium and have really been liking the reverse flick, and have a few others I can reverse flick with the thumbstud now but not too well. Haven't gotten on the Spyderco train as I've never really liked the look, but something about the Sage 5 LW calls to me sometimes. But I was wondering what y'all's take would be, for my decidedly average (not larger) hands.
Incidentally, I am in fact a doctor and agree with your materials safety discussions.
Hi DCA, any tips for cleaning out kydex sheaths? I carry a Bradford Guradian 3 commonly for gritty work around the house & garden (digging, concreting etc) and often find the knife dulls from grit that is trapped in the sheath. Any suggestions for sorting this out? Thanks!
2:25 FINALLY! Someone addresses this, which I appreciate, but still, you can keep your g-10, your grn, your frn, anything in the fiberglass family really. Great video though. Great channel.
First off, congrats on almost 100 KnifAQ episodes! Definitely a great series, keep on doing it. My question: what is DCA’s one tool survival/bushcraft choice for the apocalypse?
Dumb Knife Story:
Back in ‘03 I was in the service on deployment. Before the deployment I splurged and purchased a Benchmade Auto Stryker to carry as a primary cutter. During the first 2 months of the deployment we rarely ate anything besides MRE’s as we were far from any military chow facility and typically on the move. We finally caught a respite guarding the battalion command HQ (approximately 1/2 mile away) major supply route. As a “thank you” HQ offered up some much needed hot chow.
Unfortunately for us, the chow they offered was the old large tin ration pan that was boiled to heat up. They did not provide an opener. Angry and hungry I used my $300 Benchmade to cut the tin ration pan open to feed my guys.
Side Note: the 154CM did great and did not chip or bend, just need a bit of a tune up after.
Damn dude, good on you for taking one for the team! Do y'all not get issued fixed blades that maybe you care less about and not have to resort to using your BM? Glad to hear that it kept up with your abuse, though!
@@Zx2Solomon yes we have bayonets. However, due to some arbitrary rule you’re not allowed to sharpen the bayonet.
@@Joshadamwyo makes sense.
Hey DCA I was looking for something like the Civivi Crit but only need the line cutter side. Would like only one implement instead of the double duty this pulls with the blade on the other side. For work I have to cut through tubing line bundles without nicking the lines themselves. A folding line cutter like the Crit had would be nice. Any ideas?
That now-you-see-it-now-you-don't blood blister adds an interesting aspect to the show.
Hey DCA, which blade profile has better predisposition to be the better slicer, spear point drop point like on a SAK, or something with a classic drop point?
I'm trying to branch out in terms of blade profiles, and I noticed that I basically have no american tantos. Do you have any good reccomdations for 50-150 USD american style tanto knives? Can be for EDC or hard use/outdoor, or feel free to choose one of each.
Love this show and I need your help. I love the Lionsteel Bestman with the drop point blade (the first version of this knife blade). I appreciate its handle its size a great edc steel and particularly the shape of the blade. Unfortunately it’s a slipjoint and doesn’t have a pocket clip.
In your opinion what is the closest locking knives to the Bestman??
I’m liking the funny interactions between Thomas and DCA. I’m awaiting a “Team DCA” knife so that I can order that and feel like a real knife guy. Thanks all!
Its called a Nordsmith and you're going to have to wait for it to get in stock like the rest of us!
Hi David and Thomas. Thanks for the great content, it's terrific! I'm wondering why you don't carry BPS knives? They get great reviews, are insanely affordable, and all fixed blade! I have two, and they are awesome, along with their really nice leather sheathes!
Hello Thomas and David, I love your shows. I've bought more than my share of knives from Knifecenter, and while I like them all the ones I carry the most are the Demko AD 20.5 and the Civivi Cogent. The Demko Shark Lock I feel to be about as bulletproof as any folding lock, but I do wonder how secure the button lock is on my Cogent. I've always loves the Pro-Tech Malibu, but since they're never in stock for more than 12.6 minutes (or so) I was thrilled to see Civivi make the Cogent. After I bought the Cogent, I've just wondered if the button lock is going to be secure enough I don't need to worry about my pointer finger. Keep up the good work, and give Thomas a few more of his own videos like the 'EDC Gear for Mechanics' which was a lot of fun.
@KnifeCenter. Is there a non-flipper one hand opening Nessmuk style folder out there? I love the Nessmuk style blade and would love to own a Revo Ness or Vosteed Nightshade but fear that they would not make it passed Canadian Knife laws due to the flipper issue. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Hi Knife Center Team. Great job. I've hear a lot about knife 'balance', and seen it demonstrated with some kitchen knives. But how does this apply to EDC folding knives? Please explain and, if possible, demonstrate some good vs bad examples. Thanks. Don - Vancouver, Canada
I clean g10 with h202 and a tooth brush. Works great! Or try rubbing alcohol
I keep a SOG Key knife on my Keychain. Very handy
The Pena X-Series Bravo is a grail knife of mine, but I'm having no luck at all in finding one. Any word on whether we might see more in the future?
Hey DCA could you talk a bit about pocket clips? Tip up vs tip down carry pros and cons? Also what makes a the side of the pocket clip better for right or left handed users? What is your preferred style of pocket clip? (Wire, milled, super deep carry, etc.?)
Hey DCA, I have a question for you:
As a knife designer, you have a working relationship with a knife manufacturing company, but how did you actually start establishing it? Did you just contact LT Wright and ask them to build a prototype off your specs that you would pay for, or maybe you had already made one yourself and sent it in to them to see their interest? How did it work without the worry of “design theft” or some such similar concern, and how much did you truly need to know about knife design before actually getting started designing? I’m very interested in the starting process and how it works, though I have no idea if I could hack it myself.
Thanks for any info you could offer, if you see this comment. Love the content
He signed up for a knife making class with LT Wright originally, thats how the relationship started. Don't know how the rest of it came to be but he has shared that much before
Although I have never owned a Banter, I absolutely love the Chaparral! I own multiple versions even a custom from another knife supplier. My recommendation would be to buy the lightweight FRN version. I prefer it over the carbon fiber or Sun & Moon version for EDC.
I picked up that particular version because I like XHP.
Hi DCA, are there fixed blade handles (tangs and scales) that are easy to customize to fit my hand? How would you do it?
Hi DCA, my son and I are scheduled to go backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch next summer. I was wondering what two fixed blades we could carry, one for each of us. I was thinking of a bushcraft knife like a Mora and the other maybe being something for heavier tasks like batoning, or should I go with something better at food prep? I expect my son will also have his SAK (EvoGrip 18) and I may take a pliers type multi tool and maybe my Rat 1(Overkill? Maybe for some). I'm essentially looking for two fixed blades to rule them all. My budget is around $200ish for the pair. Thank you.
How do I sharpen the hawkbill blade on my opinel mushroom knife thanks!
Hey dca. Out of general curiosity, the the “10” series of carbon steels ( 1055,1075,1084,1095) are there a “higher end” version of such other then hc? As in something like an 11 or 12 series in the knife making world?
Hi, what are some maintenance and care tools you use to keep you knives working in top shape? What oils, grease or other things do you have to make knives last for years and years?
Hey, just checking what happened to the message I had recieved to reply. It stated "please respond to this message, I have something for you." That message now disappeared. Just checking why and if maybe I did something wrong. 🤔
Hi, Dave. You can't put Henckels or any other high-quality kitchen knives in the dishwasher. It'll ruin them. They can tear up the edge, and if you have an air-dry dishwasher as we do, it may start rusting before it starts drying. You can check up on me online, and I think you'll find this out. Easy does it.
Which is why I said not to do it in this video :) -DCA
Stupidest thing i did with a knife was probably last week: Jumping down a median on the road to avoid traffic while carrying my TOPS CUT 4.0 tip up on my belt. The kydex couldn't retain the knife from the kinetic energy generated from my jump and the knife fell on the road, facing the incoming traffic. 3 huge buses, 10+ cars and a bunch of motorbikes went over my dear knife before i could pick it up again. But true to TOPS reputation, the knife is built like a tank and only took minor scratches on the micarta handles and a good scar on the traction coating to remind me when and where i jump again! No buses, cars or motorbikes were harmed in this incident too..
Wow The Prices of Knifes are So Incredibly Experience to Buy Now Specially Those Spyderco knifes!😉☮️
Hey DCA, new subscriber here. I’d really like to see you, Thomas, and maybe a couple more KC minions give their ideas of the ideal EDC knife specs. This would include, but not limited to, blade steel, length, shape, handle material, lock type, opening method, and weight range. Each of you could then present an example or two of knives that closely represent their ideal EDC knife.
I like this idea.
Chaparral with Raffir Noble handles, my favorite knife I ever lost...pocket clips hate me
Hey guys love your channel learned a lot from it first time I'm asking a question but It'll be awesome if you guys could do like a pocket check of what's in your pocket during the show thanks Dean
That Artisan Hoverwing reminds me of my old Gerber Paraframe
Hello from The Land Down Under.! Great show as always. Great to see Thomas doing his 25c worth with most of it though worth knowing. Pretty smart for a bartender.! News flash...we use a tooth brush & toothpaste to clean our knives scales. It's great for G10, micarta or wood etc and sanitised with eucalyptus oil, especially our bushcraft knives. Thought we throw our 25c worth out there. Perhaps once in a while DCA & Thomas should go deep into the Knife Center dungeon ans seek kinves that never seen the light of day. The Dark Lord collection.! Warm greetings from Australia.
Yes mate the old tooth brush does a great job just add a little Dawn dish soap, especially works for grease and oil on micarta scales.
@@marktheboss6441 Cheers Mark, will do mate.
In the US, aluminum oxide was eliminated as in ingredient in toothpaste around 2016. When it was still an ingredient, toothpaste could be used to polish metal. The only abrasives in toothpastes now are extremely soft.
Interesting point as some that works in the tree care industry people would be amazed about just how toxic some wood is to work with
Hey DCA, Thomas, and Seth V. I just recently picked up a part time bartending job. I’m looking for a new knife that has one handed open/close. Currently I have a mini Bugout I’ve been using. I’m really just wanting a reason to buy a new knife for the job. Any recommendations?
thank you for the subtitle,is really helpful
I have a question: I'm looking for an outdoor focused multitool/knife for my 3 kids. Primary tools are a knife, saw, and QUALITY scissors. I like some of the Boker Tech Tools, but like the usual SAK offerings, I've never found much use for the damn corkscrew...for multitools, I like the Wave+, but the scissors are abismal. A few of Gerbers offerings tick the boxes as well, but I'm not sure the quality is there. Perhaps I should just build them a Wave based frankentool with the scissors from the Wingman. Or maybe you can turn me on to some options that I'm not aware of???
Check out Ozark Trail Multiforce. No joke
The best use for the corkscrew is to hold another tool... for outdoors, you can put a FireAnt set (available from the KnifeCenter), basically fires tarter & tinder. There is also a variety of scrwedrivers available for storage in the corkscrew.
Also, in the outdoors the corkscrews can be used to loosen knots.
Btw, have a look at the Victorinox Evolution S17, this one has a locking blade.
As far as the Boker go, excellent blade, not a huge fan of the scissors myself though.
Try looking at the ones made by Ruike. You can get a SAK-style tool with a 12C27 steel blade, a pocket clip and G10 handle scales.
I can't comment on the quality of the scissors though, since I don't own one.
@@Ericstraordinary The Ruike is the same as the Boker. Just saved a bit on fit and finish (less contouring of the scales)
Hi DCA, i got a question for you. What are your favorite Purple or deep blue g10 knives Below 100 ?
Every video bring something new to learn about knifes, you are doing an excellent job.Can you recommend 3 knife under 100$, available outside US,that are fidgety and has thumb stud and flipper way to open them?thanks.is gone be first folding knife to own.Hope I didn't ask to much.
Hey, I'm from Germany and, as you know, our knife laws are a bit stricter than yours. Can you recommend a slipjoint or double detent knife around 60-80€, which is a good all-rounder? Safe, good steel/materials in general, fidget friendly if possible and able to take on a bit of harder work if needed. I like the Archaeo, but I somehow can't get one here. Thank you!
Hi. Have you guys ever done a video covering affordable folders that are friendly to left handers?
Thank you have a good day to all.
Hi DCA and Thomas! I was wondering if you could introduce some ice-themed knives, would love to see what you will bring!
CAREFUL WITH BARKEEPERS FRIEND! It has abrasives in it, it’s not recommended for cleaning anything mirror polished, I’d also be worried it might micro-scuff G10 and change the color. I wouldn’t use it on any metal I cared about the appearance of period, it will leave swirl marks. If it’s super diluted it might be fine, but I find several things better for knife cleaning.
Isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush are great for any cleaning/degreasing task on a knife, from pivot to g10. If it’s wood or something delicate, Simple green works great, it degreases pretty well but isn’t oily and doesn’t dry the things out as much as alcohol. Ronsonol/naphtha are also good cleaners that are safe for almost any finish, even safer than alcohol for wood finishes, but it doesn’t clean up as easily.
I work on guitars so I know how to clean gunk off all kinds of stuff lol. If it’s not going to be damaged by it (namely metals and modern plastic finishes), alcohol is my go-to cleaner for baked-in grime. Also, a couple squirts of alcohol and working the pivot will clean any knife as good as taking it apart, and it’s fine to use for food prep then.
Hey DCA.....always enjoy your vids and knife info (including Thomas's comments)! Question: I recently ordered third party bugout scales and backspacer in titanium. What is my best option to get a premium blade (uncoated satin) blade and pivot? I don't want to overpay for scales I don't need. Your help is always appreciated.
The only uncoated blades right now are the base model S30V with blue thumbstuds, grivory handles or the upgraded S90V option with carbon fiber, also with blue thumbstuds. $144 vs $279, so take your pick. Honestly, one of my most frequently carried knives is my S30V Bugout with aftermarket scales and I have no complaints about the steel, but if you want something higher end than that, you will be paying the premium. Cheers! -DCA
Please do a video of all tip-down/-up carry. Thanks.
I really like the Legatus.
Hey dca I'm looking into getting a bug out but don't like the flex in the handle. I don't wanna spend the money for some of the upgraded ones. I'm wondering if I buy the original and a set of g10 scales would that take the flex away? Thanks
One of my most frequent carries is a Bugout with Flytanium Crossfade G10 scales, and they don't really flex. Love that combo -DCA
I like that Bastinelli even in D2
I really thought it would be s30v. Seems super common. Was high end. Now every day.
Hi what would you recommend for bushcraft/survival/camp tasks?
Fixed blade, blade length of about 4 inch, thickness 3.5 to 5mm. I'd happy to see also a kydex sheath.
I like the ESEE 4 in S35VN with 3d handles for that role
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't G10 material laminated layers of fiberglass & epoxy, not asbestos? I built my L-ranch back in 1972, which was 50' × 82' & did all of the fiberglass insulation myself, walls & ceilings. It irritated my arms when wearing short sleeve shirts, but with a simple facemask, I never coughed or sneezed once & no long term conditions. On the other hand, when working for my Father in the commercial/industrial construction business for 6 1/2 years, I witnessed him & his Carpenter Foreman walk through a Butler style building with no respiratory personal protective equipment on a day when the insulators were spraying the overhead structural steel for fire retardancy using asbestos based insulating material & it looked like it was snowing inside there. Decades later his Foreman died from Mesothelioma & even though he died from cancer, the top of his lungs had the same condition.
To answer your question, yes that is correct. G-10 (Garolite) simply put, is developed by curing epoxy and fiberglass under high pressure to create a thermoset glass-epoxy laminate material. However, I believe the viewer that mentioned the G-10 being dangerous, was not saying specifically that G-10 contains asbestos as an ingredient in the material. What he said was that he read online somewhere that the health hazards from G-10 are similar to that of asbestos; meaning they're comparing the two items health concerns, and not stating that asbestos is specifically in G-10 in a physical sense.
I always wondered for all the gents using their edc to food prep: how often are you cleaning the blade? Or are we just 'rub some dirt on it' type of dudes and we ain't scared of no dirty blade cutting our salami. Also, if my blade has some kind of coating (like my bugout with the aluminum scales) is there any concern of messing with a coating when cleaning?
Het DCA, love the show btw. Quick question here: do you have any recommendations for a budget friendly fidgety knife? Preferably something not too large or ridiculously small (around 4 inches closed length, weight is not really a concern), with easy one handed operation and multiple means of deployment. Thanks

can you recommend me a knife witch has the handle colour reversed tanto?
Hey DCA (or anyone that may know), I'm looking for a U.S. made flipper, washer bearings, preferably drop point, solid lock, with tip down carry. I currently have one, and like the design, but the blade steel is not marked and certainly not good. It requires sharpening after any moderate amount of use, which is a hassle as I use it as my work knife. Thanks!
8 have larger hands and prefer streight handle on smaller knives. I have to squeeze my fist way too much because of the dropping end of the handle.
hey dca. not really an FAQ but when will crkt realease the folts minimalist in better steel other than d2? i think 14c28n would be great for this knife. i dont know of any other neck knife thats this easy to carry and with great ergos(you can easily orient/index the knife even with eyes closed).
Im old school so for me steel is either Carbon steel (as in Mora) or the standard Stainless Sandvik 12C27 (as in Opinel SS)
Carbon steel can mean a lot. You can get 10 series or something like vanadis 4E.
Deeply impressed with that sphygmomanometer pull, David. I had never heard that word before. I'm curious if there's a small story to that entering your vocabulary. Would you be willing to share?
My bet is The Simpsons. The episode where Bart gets a fancy super hero utility belt.
@@Ericstraordinary Ah, that certainly sounds plausible! I've never watched the Simpsons myself, so I didn't have that point of reference. Thanks!
Never saw that episode lol. Sometime in high school I'm sure -DCA
Hey DCA, greetings from Virginia Beach! I'm looking to upgrade my tackle-box knife (I'm currently using a Buck Bantam 286). I need something sturdy that's pointy enough for dispatching fish and crustaceans, but with enough belly for cutting bait and other slicing tasks. Stainless for sure, I do take care of my knives, but also dabble in some pier fishing. I'm curious what you’d recommend for both fixed and folding under $100. Keep up the great content!
Maybe mora for a fix blade. You could buy 5 and stay under a hundred
marttiini fillet knives are great, the cheapest option is around $22 then up, highly recommend them
@@sircassie891 I have a few Moras, should have mentioned that they're a little big for my tackle bag. Need something just a bit shorter in total length.
Maybe a mora Eldris. Not sure about folder, but on a budget kershaw always has great options.
I'm more a knife as a tool than as a collectible kind of guy, but, as my collection of guitars and other music gear testifies, I'm one to appreciate serious gear geekery wherever I come across it. That said, one of my prized possessions is an inherited vintage Sabatier 10" chef's knife that (as far as I know) dates from sometime in the early to mid-1960s. Its High-carbon steel takes a seriously wicked edge, but not a terribly durable one (the honing steel is my friend). So, as Sabatier appears to have disappeared from the U.S. market, I was wondering, are there any other French-made knives (besides Opinel, which is one of my EDCs) available, especially in chef's knives? I find I prefer the Sabatier's more slender, less beefy profile over Henckels, Wusthof, and other German-style knives.
Shit I almost started using G10 to make slingshot frames you guys have actually helped me I never thought it would be possible 🤣👍 thanks
The We Banter should come with a warning. They are addictive and can’t stop with just one.
Warning, a portion of all money spent on Chinese products goes to fund the Chinese communist party to put muslims in concentration camps and harvest their organs.
2nd that, also baby banter fantastic litte fun knife.
Just remember that you are funding the ccp & that should cure you.
For me it's the Spyderco Dragonfly. I have at least a dozen. Multiple Steels, and colors.
Back lock is very stiff on chapperel ..takes 2 hands to close. Get. The. Banter !
Do you guys ever do reviews on smatchets? Modern or vintage
Hell DCA I have a question and I don’t know if anyone else has asked it but are there any sub 100 dollar knives with a decent steel with Micarta scales. Blade shape dosent matter but more of a skinning type is kinda what I’m looking for. I don’t own any knives with Micarta and I really want one
G10 is not composed of asbestos and resins, it is composed of fiber glass and resins, this alone mitigates the concern of exposure to asbestos. Additionally asbestos is only hazardous if inhaled, as this allows filaments to become embedded into the tissues of the lungs.
Hey DCA!
I need help! I’ve been getting more and more into premium steels and I was wondering if they all take forever and a day to sharpen when the time comes? I know you have covered technique previously, but was wondering if pushing harder is advisable?
I use the sharpmaker in the flat configuration and a strop to finish it off and can get it hair popping but don’t like sitting there for hours sometimes, can you help??
Get the CBN and Diamond ceramics.
Honestly I find s35vn, which is nothing crazy, to be pretty easy to sharpen. Much easier than d2 IMO
Pushing harder against your edge is not always advisable. Depending on your sharpening medium, you can actually dislodge the diamond/aluminum oxide/etc. particles from the substrate.
More strokes is better than harder strokes.
@@sircassie891 I’ve found S90V to be easier than D2. Way easier
Never push hard. Use good diamond stones and use light strokes. Use the courser stones as little as possible, spending more and more time with each stone as the grit gets finer
Cleaning G10: ultrasonic cleaner. Use a drop of dish soap in the water or Simple Green.
What knife does Thomas have when editing his moviecuts ?
Most common knife in the Knife & Q videos specifically? Carcass Splitter.
Hey DCA, best pocket knife for a fisherman who walks/hikes rivers and fishes from shore. Not for processing fish. Something lightweight to maintain my gear and can handle getting wet. Price is not a concern.
Spyderco Caribbean. Or any Spydie with LC200N blade
Hey DCA,
Could you explain the difference between a Kukri and a Kopis?
Sounds Greek.😎
What would your go to knife be for a self-defense instance?
That artisan cutlery looks like the Gerber paraframe
I have a few women to buy presents for & thought multitool & was wondering what is womens favorite multitool? Please include multiple price ranges. Thank you
The internet!! Way to go Thomas.
I think the Carcass Splitter is the most featured knife in the knifAQ section. Just a hunch, though.
Nah, Bugouts/PM2s/Demkos etc get way more airtime
No, the small archeo lol
My SOG key cut the hell outa my finger during closing. Just to dang small for me
For the next knife Q&A: What is DCA's favourite traditional pocket knives?
