2013-2018 Ford Fusion Air Temperature Sensor Replacement How-To

  • My 2016 SE Fusion was always reading -40 degrees outside temperature when starting and then 50 once it had "warmed up". This really messed with the internal AC climate control. The fix is simple, cheap and can be done with no tools or just a small pair of needle nose pliers.
    Ford Model Number: DY1160
    Cost: ~$12 shipped on Ebay

This is great info and saved me a TON of money. However, I actually do recommend putting the front wheels up on ramps so you can remove the splash cover underneath. There's 3 holes behind the sensor. 2 for the pegs and 1 for the airflow around it. I could not get the sensor to line up on the peg holes properly with needlenose pliers, so I found that if I removed the splash cover, then I could just pull the rubberish air baffle piece there and reach up inside and connect the sensor. I also found that it is easier to put the sensor back in without the wire connected to it, then reached up in the area beside the sensor and pushed the wire back on the sensor from inside.

I'm having this same issue right now with my 2017 Fusion Hybrid SE. I found the part online but all places list it as not in stock. It does also piss me off that simply doing a search of the issue online led me to this and what part is needed but neither my usual mechanic nor the dealer mechanics could figure it out.

@@nicokenney173 I appreciate the reply, even a year later. I do have an update though. So I did replace the part. However, it unfortunately did not fix the problem in the long-term. I've taken the car into a dealership mechanic not far from my house. They still haven't been able to fully fix the issue so they've been trying to figure it out, thankfully at no charge to me. Luckily I live in a state now where the climate isn't as terrible as it was when this problem started (Phoenix, Arizona).
