According to school officials, Dillon Reeves, a student at Lois E. Carter Middle School in Warren, saved the day after the bus driver lost consciousness while driving the bus. You're right. I hope this young man realizes how many lives he saved by his quick actions. Id like to think i would have done the same at his age, but probably not. I was a very shy kid at his age.
That kid was Johnny-on-the-spot. Recognized a dangerous situation, immediately took control of the situation, and started issuing orders.
I suspect that this young man will go far in life. Clearly, his parents raised him right. I am kind of sad, though, because even though he was a rockstar, he seems embarrassed at the recognition.

He was able to react because he doesn't have his face stuck staring at a phone like the other kids. That's why he seen what was happening, and yelling for someone to call 911 because he didn't have a phone to do it. I could be wrong and he had a phone on him but wanted to concentrate on what was happening, but i believe if he had a phone he would have called 911 immediately and before even stopping the bus. I hope great things happen for him. He's definitely off to a good start.

Dear Driver's, this is a 7th grader that drove a school bus standing up and facing the wrong way, never looked out the windshield and did NOT crash! Let that sink in for the careless driver's that we see every day. This kid is awesome! I don't care! Someone Call 911!

Busses drivers should have to pass a physical every year , so less incidents occur .
Bus drivers are to required to hold Commercial Drivers Licenses to carry 16+ passengers, and are subject to Department of Transportation physicals; up to every 2 years. Something such as a heart attack, stroke, seizure, etc might not be caught by a physical.

School districts should do better screening of bus drivers' health. This driver looked obese. He might have had blood sugar/heart problems.

You do realize there are no young, fit, healthy people looking for bus driving jobs right? Lol like everyone else that employees people, you can only hire the people that apply. Most school bus drivers are retired and looking for extra money or this is their 2nd and 3rd job because the pay and hours are terrible. If only all of our fit and young people were doing everything, then the rest of the people who can't or won't take care of themselves wouldn't be a danger to everyone. He’s still a young kid who stepped up and took control when the driver of the school bus he was went UNCONSCIOUS and maybe needed emerg medical attn. Also even at that slow speed a large bus can do damage. Good thing it was a responsible kid and not you?
