Nice to see the British army bivvi bag in use, I used mine at the weekend. Little tip, if the weather is bad. Put the bag face down, then you can use the hood bit as a rain cover. Regards JB. 👍
Now thats a good tip. I like that. Thanks fella
Yes Jim Bob you know it makes s
Sense sorry
Any clue where I can get a genuine one? Thanks

You reminded me of all of the times that I had to do just that....sleep/stay in a bivvy bag, while in the US Infantry....while it was raining.
We had a woobie, a bivvy, and a closed cell foam mat....sometimes, we had our green patrol sleeping bag.
I also sometimes had to use my military emergency space blanket, that I got from one of our medics.
Thank you for the memories, Brother !!!
Keep up the great work !!!
Hey man, as a Brit just like to say thanks for being a brother to us over the pond. I never made it into the army. It was something I always wanted to do, and something I've always, always regretted. ✌
Did you have a poncho too, at least set it up as a shelter. Done that many a time or just sat on my pack against a tree in the rain with it on.
@@michaelpepper7230, Amen, Brother !!!
The ground was our friend !!!
@@blank-dr2kx, Amen, Brother !!!
It wasn't for everyone.
Trust me.
Thank you for your support.

@@thefucrew9865 I love being outside, roughing it, I love the dark and and everything else that goes with it.
So sorry about bushman mick, hope one day he can even get outdoors with you guys at home for a wee camp, praying for him. Loved the video.rain rain go away.
Hi Dan. Never underestimate the usefulness of a simple umberella. A decent golfing brolly only takes up as much space/weight as a walking pole.
Tarp is king
I'm yet to try a wet one. I was off around Dartmoore last week. Ended up with blinding weather all week. My first ever wild camp. Loved it ! Dartmoore was absolutely stunning. Used the phoxx 2v2. Very impressed. Great video yet again 👍
Just got the same tent it's brilliant
Nice to see you out with a British army bivvy, I modded mine, took out the string you pull it closed with and changed it up for paracord with a toggle at the end so I can cinch it up and it stays tight 👍🏻
Even if it does rain lightly, you enjoyed the little adventure , and that’s all that matters.
Stay safe 👍
Hi mate I alway love the time outdoors, thankyou for watching
As they saying goes Skin is Waterproof 😂😂😂 good video as usual
Weatherman was drunk. Even on day hikes I always bring a tarp. You just never know when the weather can change. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
Its really sad that money is worth more than Trees ! , we need all the Trees we can get .
Hi Dan , I like Tarp and Tent videos , but only if its heavy rain ! .
Hope Bushman Mick is ok buddy!
Love your bivvi bag camps
one thing you never do is listen to the weatherman and always take your tarp no matter what lol good vid tho good effort
You're a better man than I! I couldn't be bothered to video my camps, although I have sometimes posted pictures.
Sad to hear about Michael. Give him our best as he created dome very fond memories with you guys ... won't be quite the same without him and his character that shone brighter than the stars. Thanks Dan. Bushyboy Oz.
I use the XL size of the 2Gosystems trifecta, a reflective tyvek bivy, With an 'envelope" around it, made of two taped together 55 gallon drum liners, a hammock and ridgeline thru the bivy and another ridgeline thru the envelope, it lets me sleep ok at 40F in just cammies. shemagh, gloves, 3 pairs of sock liners, unlaced shoes, balaclava, , laying on my daypack and buttpack, in the hammock, With the two 1/2 lb each Amazon camo nets and the 2 amazon 1/4 lb each bugnet "suits', all worn as longjohns, I can sleep ok at 30F, in the wind.
That's pretty good, for kit that only weighs 5 lbs. There's a third drumliners, some cordage, some tape, 4 stakes and a 3x4 ft oval of clear PEVA shower curtain (wallys) The packs get emptied out and stuffed with debris. The packs add 2.5 lbs and the miscellaneous 'extra' clothing totals 1.5 lbs. I had to add a thicker, wider belt to the buttpack. The hip pads are my spare boxer shorts and T shirt. The spare sock liners are my shoulder pads. I truly do hate every sq in and oz of crap I have to lug around, so I make everything serve at least 2 purposes.
I dont need a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, tent, poncho, rainsuit, or heavy clothing. All of this sleep-shelter gear is usable in hot weather. It's all wearable as clothing and none of it is affected by its getting wet. Except for the balaclava, all of the clothing "extras" are needed in hot weather and the balaclave can be stuffed with debris or unused clothing and used as a pillow.
If I stuff debris between the bugnet suits and in between the wraps of the camo nets, I can sleep ok at 20F. If I had hot rocks or hot water bottles to the foot box of the bivy, I can sleep ok at 10F, for 2-3 hours, at least. A discrete Dakota fire pit will heat up those items, if the ground is not yet too hard frozen to dig such a pit.
My favourite camping videos are the stealth ones..trying to blend in with nature
Always enjoy your videos..alone or with the gang
Wishing Bushman Mick the best
Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
Rain in England who would have expected it. You carry enough gear another pound or two wouldn’t kill you. I would always have a tarp or poncho with me if I were out. Oh well love and learn. Have fun maybe do a hammock camp next time. Good luck with the camping.
Live and learn my thumbs type badly .
Ps love your show dan. And don't sweat your past. Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future!!
Oh wow Bush man gone I understand .cant go myself .I like the video .it was a change from things
I love bevy camping and especially urban stealth camping I think is a real skill to have.
That fine rain is a pain! Get you soaked in no time rain!! Only us British know about it!!
Great vids, have you thought about "old school" camping gear? Like Tilley lamps and such??
I still use Tilley Lights when I go night fishing, there's so much old school gear that's still practical buts been forgotten about!
Camping 1960s style?
It's wet rain..... Normal rain is much dryer :D
Nothing wrong with a Tilley lamp
Fine rain = Mist.
@@blank-dr2kx No, wet rain is different again :)
@@blank-dr2kx mist = pist wet through!! 🤣
I've missed watching Mick - so sorry to hear he can't make more videos for now - hope he's ok - pass on regards and best wishes to him - a real character - look forward to seeing him back one day soon - a real life Compo :-)
I kept playing last of the summer wine when all three were together🤣👍🦊
Used a British army bivvi all year fantastic breathable and waterproof
Dan , you are a Star mate ! , only you would be out with just a Bivvy bag .
I like hammock and bivi camping. I'm running a hammock but thunk I'll get a tent bivi and some winter camo for winter stealth camping..gotta love the weather man! Trust no one lol.
Great video. Been watching a few now but I always forget to like. You tube needs a auto like.
top man ,good video. fair play for giving mick a shout out. thanks and stay safe.
I agree, you were in the best place, who wants TV all night. I just imagined stumbling across you laying there, what a fright lol
Little tip replace the cord in the Bivvy bag with paracord makes it much easier to use
Couldn’t believe it about Mick, he’ll be missed! I have a bivvi, I’ll take my poncho with me just in case. Stay safe atb 👍🦊
Cracking little video
Great to see you just get on with it, what rain ! Just love a bivy camp
Doing a few in the tent at the minute with the son , back in the bivy when they go back to school next week
Keep em coming
A question for the warden ; if he’s doing no harm and leaving no trace and respecting nature ; what harm is there ? There’s waaaay too many chavs who don’t give a monkeys , and this young man sends a positive Message out to many ( respect nature ) let’s not be jobsworthy eh?
To be fair, it’s a difficult one, if you let one person, then what about the other person who also presents themselves in a good light. I got turfed off a local area, he was very nice about it. He said they get kids having big bonfires, leaving loads of bottles and cans, he can’t let one person and say no to others- he could see I was just sitting, doing my thing, carving a wooden spoon, under my tarp lean to. I can see his problem, what about the next person he finds who is also a reasonable person, and so on. If you have a rule, you have to keep to it in those circumstances. Having said that, I still go back. What gets me about it is, I’ve been going there 30 years or more, it was a couple of 20 year old busy bodies who grassed me up, and that was after I’d had the good grace to direct them through a very muddy patch so they could go on their way! Should have let them struggle up to their ankles in mud!🤬🤬🤬
A monkey? Is that "Don't give a shit"?
This was an excellent video. Thanks. Just keep doing what makes you happy.
Good morning Gar ,
Thankyou for watching I am hoping to get out again tonight
Mate, your videos are always worth watching, watching you fight with the Bivvy bag to cover yourself up when you first got in it really made my missus chuckle, keep em coming, cant wait to see some Winter Camps 👍
I like the tent camps best
Me too - I'm not keen on Hammock or bivvy camping.
I prefer bivvy. Back to nature.
Not a clue how as me and technology don’t like each other lol your one of the first channels I subscribed to yet I seemed to have lost your channel, thankfully I’ve found your channel again :) keep up the great work mate love your videos!! Respect from a fellow Yorkshire man
Hi mate ,,youtube play games and un subscribers please ,, or my channel might of been boring and you left me 🤣🤣🤣, well nice to see you back
@@englishwoodsman well it must have been the first option lol just ‘subscribed’ to Micks channel, gunna watch all his videos. Not sure what’s wrong with or anything like that but pass on my best wishes the next time you speak to him, god bless him ❤️
Best wishes to Mick. Thanks for the vid Dan. Preference; woods good, woods with rocks really good, woods with rocks on the coast... perfect 👍
This is why I always carry an umbrella. Good vid :)
You should give haze indoors your hiking boots mate, he can compare them and see if there up to his standards, also he likes pants, so can u borrow him some of urz plz, it’s called show us ur pants, take care mate n thanks for genuine videos from a genuine bloke, keep safe n thanks again
Liking that Bivi Bag with a drawstring. I have the US Army ( no face cover or vents) and the Marine with screen over the face ( both gortex) but both are not ideal without a tarp. Or at least your rain coat over them.
So I always carry some sort of tarp.
I guess a bedroll pre assembled is not a good picture for stealth looks on the outside of a pack??
Nice wee video thanks for sharing 👍
you are as happy as a pig in shit rain or shine and Im just as happy watching your splendid vlogs.....many thanks.
Fair play mate you actually look really cosy in that rain inside your bivvi bag.
Best Wishes from Chester 👍
Hello English woodsman😁 I'm thinking about buying a one wind equinox underquilt. How is it for food temps. I'm a Canadian special operations veteran. Done lots of ground pounding but now I see the light!!Lol hammocks are the way to go. Any advice or whatever??
Love when you camp in woods and make good food.Nice big Steak
I've bought one of these and used them in the past.... a great bit of kit.....
I seen a video the other week of a home made hot tent out of a painters cloth tarp. Maybe worth experimenting with since the materials are fairly cheap
I know you always like feedback
When I watch camping videos I love seeing the late evening stuff everyone gets up to and the cooking also I like the morning stuff of just waking up 👍
1st 🤘😎🤣
Really sorry to hear about Bushman Mick. It's hopefully a while off for me but it's a day I dread. Hope he is able to do the odd trip.
It's strange the weatherman got the rain wrong, they are normally so accurate. 😂 At least you got Lancashire rain, I noted you say it was "fine" rain. We don't have the rubbish stuff here. 😂 Being serious, thanks for the video and I hope I'm soon well enough to start getting out again. I need it but these a a very welcome distraction. Thank you!
I like the tent videos as long as it’s raining but only if you’re warm and dry inside the tent lol Sorry to hear about your friend Mick ♥️👍
Nice one Dan, pity about the rain ! So sad Mick not able to come out again !!
If you pulled your jacket hood back once you must have pulled it back a 100 time…. Great as ever Dan!
One of those Uncle Bens rice sachets popped in there would be good .. and maybe a quality brandy ! Stay safe mate
Don't take any daft risks just for content mate
Great video. Nice place to camp, even with the bad weather. Sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure he'd be happy you are outdoors in his honour. Greetings from Greece 😊🏕️👍🌲
Beautiful nature reserve 😀 great video bud
You are hardcore Dan, great video mate, sorry to hear about Mick. Stay safe
totally hard core there. lol. at least you can smile about it. good on ya! (ps. keep a tarp in your bag ;))
What a lovely video, stay safe debs.
nice video don't u just love the English weather i tho you would off been used to it by know dude lol
Hope mick is keeping well !=8)
Ey up Dan. I was just thinking what I'd think if I was on a walk and came across you wrapped up in that camo bivvy. Reckon I'd probably chuck you some spare change, lol.
Brilliant! more bivvy camping in the rain please.
Love tarp camping! Any camping with you!-)
Great video Dan, do you get much condensation in the bivvy? Hope Bushman Mick is ok and wish him well
Only a bit mate ,but I was better then getting wet from the rain
I like your videos. Thank you for making them.
Could just imagine you hopping about in your bivvi bag….. always count on the rain to appear…thanks for the trip into the wild….James
Dan truly entertaining I really want to get into this bivvi bag scene looked cozy and dry meat balls and a bivvi cracking video mate
We call it mizzle cos it can't decide whether it's mist or drizzle
Hey up lad. Enjoyed that one. Anytime out is good as you know ✊
Hot tents all the way mate 👍
Lol. Great video, that’s wet rain least that’s what i call it. What were the lights in the back ground?? All the best to bush man mick. 👍🍺🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍
Nice 1 Dan 👍👍🤞
Hey from Australia mate I have the same bivy bag I use it in rain by putting little Velcro circles on the entrance to the bivy and the inside of my rain jacket so that in rain I can attach them together and have a cover for the entry to the bivy
Love watching your vids keep it up
Nice ! "its the fine stuff " , Be Well my Friend .
small rain soaks you right through.
Hammock camps are the best
Can you do a vid on how you got your permissions
Hope bushman Mick is ok
I like most of your videos except hammock camping as most RUclips people are doing it like it’s a new trend.but I like when your cooking lots of food
Good video peace and quiet sounds good to me👍😁
I would like to see you do a camping trip in the outback........ Australia outback that is? What a you tube video that would make for you, great video
Great video dan despite the rain ..😆👍
Well done! Thanks for sharing.
The things you get up to just for our entertainment 😅 That’s a bit too basic a camp for me but enjoy watching your adventures, cheers. So sorry to hear about Mick
I enjoy it when you camp in different places otherwise it starts to get like a repeat tv programme mate lol, I know it is hard when you have to work and have family commitments.
I remember doing the DOE and a sleeping bag with a bin bag sleeping at Waddington. Wouldn't do it now tho lol
Looking at those islands I would suggest a kayak camp.
I’d like to see you treat yourself to a beautiful mountain landscape maybe in Wales or the lakes!
Would love to go wild camping but no one to go with and don’t think would enjoy alone. I go family camping but campsites just don’t look the same as wild camping
Tent in bad weather is my favourite
Lovely spot for a camp🇬🇧🤠👍‼️. Never mind, yer skin's waterproof 🤔😏. Not everyone is going to have awesome suggestions but you're not wrong, getting suggestions from viewers will help keep the content 'fresh' and varied.
Great little video mate, it’s a shame that the trees are coming down 😩 what’s the rucksack are you using mate... ady
Great video, well done for seeing it through. My favourite video is when the wardens torch was really close, that was a fun one. Now did you not film the morning because you buggered off home? Haha 😂 I'm sure you stuck it out though 👊
11:23 loved that laugh of how daft you thought it was to be sat in the rain, trying to watch the stove and fighting with the bivvy bag, all good fun eh? 👍 that's why we do it hehe
Ah no that stupid fine rain! Oh well it was still a cool adventure. 👍
Going to the lakes for a weekend, thinking of ditching the sleeping bag for the bivvy
Don,t trust the weather man dont care come rain or sun just good to be out
Is love to see another haunted building camp
