I love when y’all do these classic movie breakdowns, most channels wouldn’t bother with anything this old but it’s nice seeing these classics again after so many years, it’s a breath of fresh air
The second blade movie was brilliant. All the right things came together. Edit: great break down. I wanna add that the vampire ninja dude (name escapes me) is Danny John-Jules. He was on Red Dwarf and a bunch of other stuff. He threw his hat into the ring to become the next Doctor on Doctor Who. I still wanna see him in that role.
Nosferatu means vampire, and the name of the nosferatu in Nosferatu was Count Orlok, played by Max Schrek. Christopher Walken's charater Max Shrek in Batman Returns is based on the actor. Count Olaf from the Unfortunate Events series is also a direct reference. Which now makes the Ace Ventura clip strangely connected in some way...
I like how Damaskinos has translucent skin as if his body has been without blood for so long that his flesh is completely empty of blood. It looks really gross and cool and fits the idea of a vampire much better than the pale skin we normally get. I love Del Toros takes on vampires and monsters, because they’re truly monstrous and gross and he makes very little effort to make them appealing, except for a few cases where that’s part of the design or necessary for the audience to connect with the character, like Quinlan from The Strain. For those who like this movie or like the style of the reapers, watch The Strain! It’s a cool original take on a vampire plague by Guillermo Del Toro and it’s a great show! It’s super unique and the creature design is amazing and almost everything is practical effects, which is awesome… no shitty tv quality CGI… just really cool makeup and effects.
This is probably The best analysis video I've ever seen! I've seen quite a few, but none of them were so clear, precise, and detailed. Thank you so much for an amazing job well done!
I think that the song 'I against I' by Mos Def that plays during the slow motion walk scene lends to your guy's theory of the movie foreshadowing Nisa's brother @11:22
Blade 2 is the best of the trilogy I think. I finally found a copy just a month ago to finish the trilogy. I think the main bad guy is the same actor that plays the main antagonist in "Hellboy 2:The Golden Army" after watching it recently. Great bad guy in this movie as Jerod Nomak
Don't know if anyone noticed but it's a blink and you'll miss it scene. In the truck before Scud gets attacked by the reapers, there is a Hellboy bobblehead in the truck.
They dropped the ball after Blade 2 like hard. Fuck this movie was so fucking good I was so amped for Blade Trinity…wasn’t horrible but I mean…it just was…not dark enough?
Check the scene right after Blade kills Ron Pearlman’s character and Whistler throws Blade his shades. Even after blade catches the shades you can still see Whistler continuing to do the throwing motion. Once you see it you can’t unsee it.
I know that the tragic romance aspect of vampires is often disliked but there are two things about it that I find somewhat realistic. First, vampires were previously human. The tragic aspect would still be from the guilt of killing people and the romance is just that. A desire for human contact. Second, the romance would still be very useful as a hunting technique. A person who lets you get close is an easier target than someone who doesn't.
please do ALL the breakdowns! paul is heavy spoilers, but the difference is night and day. i don't need corny jokes or comments that don't land every 10 seconds.
Blade’s origins in the comics got changed quite a bit after these movies, then Marvel changed his origin again after the MCU became popular. I forget the exact comic book number from the Morbius comic series’, but Morbius had bit Blade in one of their encounters and ended up giving Blade even more super powers.
If i had to bet i would say that "Chupa" more likely comes from an abbreviation Chupacabra (goat-sucker) a vampiric monster from the hispanic american folklore .
Matadors only use red Muleta’s in the third (and final) round of bullfighting… in the other two rounds the Matador uses a different coloured cape, usually yellow and/or pink. And in case you weren’t aware, the colour is irrelevant as it’s the movement of the cape that antagonizes the bull
Since this movie came out over 20 years ago or so, this breakdown was phenomenal! I keep telling people Wesley Snipes, “Blade” should be credited with starting the comic book era movie pop culture phenomenon! I absolutely loved this movie! Del Toro and Snipes is a match made in comic book heaven or hell, lol. I personally believe this is the absolute best comic book based movie in my opinion even after all these years, possibly, because Del Toro is a genius at monster movies! I did not think there would be this many Easter eggs in this movie but even in the early 2000s, the producers and writers of this movie did an absolutely excellent job of adding these Easter eggs and little leads to other things….just awesome! This breakdown was excellent! I only hope Marvel does not soil the Blade series with the next installment remake with Mahersala Ali, who is a fantastic actor, and I hope Ali can be equally as awesome a Blade as the Legendary, Wesley Snipes! Let’s gooooo!!!
I love that y’all made everything visually the same with all the images and sounds that Paul uses applied to MT’s breakdowns. Now it feels connected. Sounds seems better too now. MT doesn’t sound different from Paul. He was sounding like he was in a closet at first.
Blade 2 is really awsome and has even similatities with hellboy 2 the whole prince nuada thing wich is the same actor as nomak Great movie great fight scenes and young daryl Got to love it
Scud being left in the 90's is 1 of the biggest fumbles from games to watchable shit. Scud being voiced buy Seth Rogan will forever be only a thought....
About the Vlad the Impaler thing: his name was Vlad Dracu III, not Dracula. And the Dracula book was based on Elizabeth Bathory, a queen that bathed in virgin girls' blood to stay young forever. Dracula being in Romania was an editorial change shortly before the books release.
Huge thank you for checking out the video. If you wanna see our breakdown of the first film then just click here - ruclips.net/video/Vmv1f9qDliA/видео.html
It's very very annoying hoping to hear from you and having this guy. You're why we come to the channel and why we stuck around in the first place.
Can you talk about how it would be better to switch actors now. Have Ali be Kang and do a new actor with blade.
@@Fink-id6yg- MT is amazing. You're nuts.
I love when y’all do these classic movie breakdowns, most channels wouldn’t bother with anything this old but it’s nice seeing these classics again after so many years, it’s a breath of fresh air
Old? Old? Damn man that makes me feel old, id class a film as Old if I wasn't able to watch it in the cinema
Yes!!!! Blade 2 was so fantastic! So glad we're an epic MT breakdown!
The second blade movie was brilliant. All the right things came together.

Facts! They did what u r supposed 2 do n a sequel
Isnt it Donnie Yen?
I love how Guillermo del Toro used this vampire design for The Strain❤️👏🏼
I really had a blessed childhood, thanks dad for showing me this early on. Rip 🙏🏾❤️
Respect! My dad took us to see An American Werewolf in London. Classic dad move. Love it!
@@mcflyguy8873 my dad showed me that too, might’ve been too young but yea 🤣
I'm so sorry for your loss. I truly am. I hope you keep his memory and celebrate it.

"...drinking skeet on the streets to make ends meet" is craaazy lmao 😂
Lmaoooo
One of my favorite DVDs growing up. It definitely informs my current tastes

Much appreciated thank you
I remember this came out on my birthday. Had to see it in theaters. What a series
I actually prefer this movie to the first Blade movie.
I think that the song 'I against I' by Mos Def that plays during the slow motion walk scene lends to your guy's theory of the movie foreshadowing Nisa's brother @11:22
really weird timing when MC said "Recently" while talking about the red sun, I got a mint mobile add with Ryan Reynolds starting by saying "Recently"
The vampire first opening his mouth was the most horrific thing kid me saw.
Still remember my Pops taking me & my Bros 2 see this n the theatre.Still 1 of my favorite films.Blade 1 & 2 r clas-Sick
One of my favorite super hero/horror movies. Great deep dive, MT! I learned something new about this film! Actually, quite a few things!
I always wondered how long Blade knew Skud was a familiar. 🤔
I love your skeet on the street rap. Well said sir. Great breakdown as well. One of my favorite movies.
Good to know me and Norman Reedus were both watching PowerPuff Girls in 2002! XD
Yes!!! The CGI where Nomak roars with the Predator-like mouth makes up for any so-so moments in this film. So good.
This is up there with the Robocop breakdown as one of the best on the channel imo, smashing it. Shoutout out MT 🔥
Cronos and Mimic. Two great movies. As well as Devils Backbone
Awesome breakdown. Thank you!
Must be my favorite Blade movie by one of my favorite directors.
Excellent work with this video! Blade 2 is proof that the second one can be better than the first one.
I wouldn’t say it was better than the first, BUT it was perfectly well done. My gripe is what the hell happened with Blade 3?! lol
Well, I don't agree with you that the first one was better, but Blade 3, yeah, it was terrible. @@pastense
@@ludwigvanbubthoven5692 at least we agree there lol
For sure. Civil discourse in the RUclips comments section. Who would have thought it possible?@@pastense

Good job as always MT!

Man, I found your channel from Blade content and I'm following for more.
Love it! Love Blade! Love Blade so much!
Great recap!
I believe Tony Curran's character Priest was a nod to the vampire Cassidy from the "Preacher" comics.
The sentence after 10:28 is crazy 😂😂
Holy crap The Strain!! The inspiration
Love your videos… keep up the great work
I didn't know that about Tim Bradstreet. One of my top 5 favorite artists.
yo mt so glad to hear your voice again , havent been listening to new rockstars ,,,,,,,
I hope Disney never remakes this movie
They tried
And it’s been canceled
They dropped the ball after Blade 2 like hard. Fuck this movie was so fucking good I was so amped for Blade Trinity…wasn’t horrible but I mean…it just was…not dark enough?
Another fun fact Mathew Schules was also in the first Blade film he played the vampire Crease gets his hand destroyed by blades sword booby trap.
ALIEN RESURRECTION. (Love blade tho, I’ll watch every vid still)
You forgot to mention that actor who played Chupa, also played a vampire in 1st movie.
Check the scene right after Blade kills Ron Pearlman’s character and Whistler throws Blade his shades. Even after blade catches the shades you can still see Whistler continuing to do the throwing motion. Once you see it you can’t unsee it.
11:30 Radoo is the name of the butler character in Transylvania 6-5000, played by Michael Richards
Deep cut! I loved that movie and rented it repeatedly back in the day
Sucks we never got action figures from this movie back in 2002 when I was a kid
I actually watched these a few months ago and I really liked them Blade is super cool!
I know that the tragic romance aspect of vampires is often disliked but there are two things about it that I find somewhat realistic. First, vampires were previously human. I remember watching this and being thrown that cat from red dwarf was in the film
Thanks for this breakdown
I had this film on pirate VHS 😂
Man, Del Torro would have been a perfect director for Dr. Strange.
What about Powerpuff Girls Easter egg hiding about the time?
6:42 Oh, there we are
MT killing it on the breakdowns as always. Would love to see you two guys interacting together more on the channel.
This was a great movie. I always wondered how the third film fumbled so badly.
Ooooooh, so exciting!!
please do ALL the breakdowns! paul is heavy spoilers, but the difference is night and day. i don't need corny jokes or comments that don't land every 10 seconds.
Blade II was the best Blade
6:20 Scud's target wasn't a human. It was a tenticaly monster thing.
blade vs morbius is something I didnt know I needed until I knew it almost existed.

I forget the exact comic book number from the Morbius comic series’, but Morbius had bit Blade in one of their encounters and ended up giving Blade even more super powers.

Hope to see more 🙏
I remember watching this when I was a kid with my dad and grandad thought it was the best movie ever

Very good work.
I think the Dracula myth is from Europeans experience with a certain group doing blood letting. Simon of Trent being a notable example

GdT made these vamps and the one from 'The Strain' very similar. He definitely has a style.

Fun fact. Matt Schulze who played Chupa was also in the first Blade movie. He played a vampire named Crease
"And now you have an explosive device attached to your head!"
One the best lines in cinema history IMO.🤣💥💣😰😱

Same director of the tv series The Strain, the strigoi vampires, very similar to the designs of these new vampires in this second film.
That intro jump is one of the top ten character intros regardless if it’s a sequel 🤣
Big trouble in little China? Escape from New York?
Buckaroo bonsai?
Thanks for all.the amazing breakdowns. Bttf 1,2&3 were fantastic.
Felt like that “nice suit” line from Scud was like the code word to show not to kill him because he’s the mole on there side
😮 ..yall are amazing.

6:19 Scud's target was NOT human. Not in the slightest.
