Awesome review! Cables do indeed move in the back section. Spare no polygon provided you still have the performance budget available right? Loved modeling those little details. Also heads up, if you bind "SET PEDISTAL" instead of "TOGGLE PEDISTAL" for the guns, you can press and hold them as long as you still have remaining ammo. If you run out, click the little gun charges by the seat to reload to keep the fun going. Mostly for friends to simulate dogfights, and take some stellar screenshots. For those with a Warthog throttle, you can bind "SET PEDESTAL" to a locking metal toggle lever switch on the throttle that will keep the pedestal on permanently. Until you move that metal toggle lever back down.

Growing up with Baa Baa Black Sheep in the late 80's, I'm more of a F4U fan, but seeing this is a Got Friends plane, it almost feels like an obligation to buy it! They really went the extra mile and then some more again to make this old bird a hot tub! Have you noticed the mild vibrations of the cowl flaps? Minute details all over the place! While I've waited for their other great planes to hit the market place before buying, this time it will be from their store. Why? 10:20 "Wooohoohoohoooo! Oohhh, that is pretty!" I just bought this after watch the release count from 3 minutes out. And man oh man for 19.99 what a steal, this plane is a beast. Looks good, sounds good, and flys good.
I always really admire it when a developer adds the complications of starting these birds up. As a real world piston pilot, I like to keep those frustration out of my sim flying and IRL only, so I appreciate it even more when they give us the ability to turn it off 😂

8:00 "pity we can't go back here...in drone view and move the controls and see the cables move". As andrewj2120 pointed out below on the first day, I think yout may be able to do that by pushing the C key which toggles the flight controls to work while in drone view.
original versions of the F4F-4 had hydraulic wing folding, later had it physically folded by ground crew to save weight by having the hydraulic folding system removed
Thats right! In the future I would love to do some animated characters working together to unfold the wings. Perhaps with some of the new tools in FS2024 when we start remastering the fleet and adding new features support. :)
It's a worry that once again Got Friends have set the bar so high. I am sure this must discourage other developers from attempting to compete BUT it is bloody great for Fs2020 aviators, I will be purchasing it on release. Great video AV and thumbs up to the Got Friends team👍👍👍

Stockholm, Panama canal zone, Ukraine hot zones and mountains in the west near Poland and Slovakia, West Virginia radio telescope zone (which has radio ban and it's name is impossible to write here). Flights of Mathias Rust (1987) and Sully (2009). Where D B Cooper might have landed (1971), the general area with similar plane and jumps with a parachute. Aerial refueling.
5:56 The panel edges on the fuselage look a bit weird - as you say, too dark - almost like they painted them darker. These days, with the advanced lighting and shadow effects, if you add shading to define panel edges, you kinda get them looking too dark. I suspect that's what's happening here.

Great review. Looks like one to get. One problem,the bombs are way to big for outer wing of a Wildcat. If they carried bombs they would be 100 lb on the outer wing which is rare to see in photos. The bombs may say 100lbs AMT but in real pictures they are much smaller, the one pictured look more like 250/500 lb bombs. They could carry the larger bombs one the inboard racks used for the drop tanks on this model. Not a deal breaker and maybe they will fix it so bombs or drop tanks on inner racks. Fixed. In this video she is flying a pretty earlier preview version. We found the discrepancy as well a couple days ago and updated the positions and sizes based on reference photos. Originally these were modeled off of side-view blue-prints of the F4F-4, but in this rare instance, the blueprints were wrong. Cheers
16:21 It's a real pity they didn't implement outside sounds of the engine, guns, and wind buffeting when the canopy is open. One of those little things that totally break immersion. I'm literally shaking my head at this - I mean, they get so many things right, but ruin it by something as simple as this. I mean, how difficult can it be to link opening the canopy to the exterior sound files?
I have it, I don't like it tbf. I've never been a big combat sim fan, but honestly comparing the flying iron spit to the dcs one... the dcs one is meh.
Agreed! Their approach was great. We went a step further, made them multiplayer compatible and added subtle gravity drop to the bullet effects :) Cheers!
It looks good but somehow... some things are not as I'd like them to be. I'll stay with FlyingIron for warbirds, both the BF-109 and the Spitfire are great addons and I have high hopes for their next one
GotGravel does an amazing job on Warbirds for FlyingIron. Their Spitfire is phenomenal and one of my favorite addons for the sim. Infact, was the first payware I think I picked up. Its worth saying though, the work he put into the GotFriends F4F Wildcat has made it likely the most comprehensive digital recreation for a home use sim to date. Such a joy to have an opportunity to work with him because I always have the confidence that his research and flight model / systems design programming expertise result in amazing products. She has headphone simulation on. Otherwise it works as you would expect.
press C when in drone view to control the plane., C again to go back to normal drone control/view
