"Jämtländskt Tunnbröd" is a thin bread from the region of Jämtland, Sweden. Its about 45 min by car between Malmö - Copenhagen (Köpenhamn). Vikings didn't originate in one place. They came from a region where Norway, Denmark and Sweden is today. But you have to remember that there were no nation states back then (they were forming though). No borders you couldn't cross. A lot of "Swedish Vikings" went west (UK) as well as east. As proven by the runestones we have in Sweden.
24:54 - There is no "the original viking"... A viking is an occupation, a viking is a raider. They are just randon farmers from random places around Denmark, Norway, and Sweden who went on raids across Europe. Or in short; Viking is a pars pro toto for the whole Scandinavian 8th-11th century population.
Viking is an occupation term. Like raiding or adventuring. The Norse were not split into nation states at that time. When the Norse went on raids and adventures to new shores and plunder, they went viking. They were all Norse, of different tribes and kinships, some were Danes, Some were Swedes etc. but all were Norse.
"Viking" also is probably simply derived from describing a person coming from the place the ships set out from, since a "vik" is a bay and "-ing" is a suffix for the root word. Translated it just means (a person) "of the bay".
13:35 the body movement says it all, and all chefs are happy to see a person eat with such vigor. It is a great compliment that anyone is happy to get.
Pretty good pronunciation of the numbers. Love seeing people learn Swedish. 3:50 No! That's pretty standard for Swedes, we don't need to travel to get that good. We just have the internet and all the media be mainly American English. 6:55 Cause the vikings took the best looking women home, genes for good looks. ;P
Your Swedish is awesome! Keep up the good work! 👍 Lard is a kind of fat. Fat is like an overall word like metal. But there are tons of different fats as there are tons of different metals. And yes, there is a bridge to Denmark. And Copenhagen and Malmö is close friends. Yeah, Swedish vikings conquered a lot of land, specially east. Norwegian, Icelandics and Danes went west and did England, USA and stuff.
Yes there are a historical connection, before 1658 Scania (Skåne) and Malmo (Malmö) belonged to Denmark. We have a very rich soil here and is the warmest part to wich means that things grow faster here and can be harvested earlier, not unsual to get to crops in the same season either. Up until 1710 there was many fights over this territory. The best way for you to explore Sweden is by coming here, start in Malmö and travel up north. Much to see here and lots to try and eat. In Malmö we even have a museum dedicated to discusting foods! Here you can smell surströmming and if you are brave enough even try it. There are many videos on RUclips that shows americans visiting Malmö, look at them to :) and welcome
The mood lighting was popular in high-end restaurants a few years ago. Northern Sweden is called Norrbotten or more sloppy "Norrland". "Lappland" is an older derogatory name referring to the Sami people. Not to be confused with the Finnish province of the same name. Tattoo's have exploded and are now very, very popular in Sweden. Most common on 18 to 40 year olds. ... and sailors of any age. Between Malmö and Copenhagen it's 45 minutes by car across the bridge. You should react to "Semlor" on the "Tasting History" channel. Excellent view of a traditional Swedish dish and one of the best history videos about a bit of Swedish history that you can find.
Lappland is still lanskapet Lappland, which is located in one of three parts of the country called Norrland. Norrbotten is also a landskap in Norrland. Both are the two northernmost landskapen in Sweden and the only ones with a land border with Finland.
Det är tredje gången jag ser honom göra ett inlägg med faktafel som kommentar till den här killens videor. Norrbotten är definitivt INTE synonymt med Norrland. Och naturligtvis är han "antirasist".
So many talk about the Italian cousine - well who where number 1,2 and 3 in the last world chef championship? Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Italy is doing like mum did and the young people are not schooled at all in the basics of cooking at school. Just jump in where dad used to work and use moms recepies.
The highways back 500-1000 years ago was water ways. Much faster and secure then going by land. So that that is why there was a close connection between Köpenhamn and Malmö.
The original vikings where from Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The Norwegian and Danish vikings where going West mainly France and the Brittish islands. Where they founded Dublin in Irland and octher cityes. They also took over Shetland islands the faroe Island, Iceland and Greenland Where you have decendent left still today. The Swedish where going east and south and made trade routes with the Bysantine empire "Mirklagård" through nowadays Russian and Ukrainian land. They founded Kiev to have a trade hub on the way to Bysantine empire amongst others. Viking was a term for being a pirate not evryone of the Nordics where Vikings.
Yes, 6 is really "sex". Speed is "fart". But "två" isn't "tva". The å is a separate letter from the a and is pronounced as the "aw" in "hawk". So Å, Ä, Ö are separate vocals, not some variant of "A" and "O". "TH" is pronounced as "T" in Swedish, except in English words. "Gothenburg" is the English name for "Göteborg". "Viking" was actually more of an occupation, like cobbler. They are most associated with raiding England, and mainly coming from the Norse people of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Iceland - but you should really react to some good videos specifically about Vikings. I think you would like'em.
The Vikings consisted of different Germanic tribes the Danes ( Denmark) Normen ( Norway ) Goths ( Sweden Gothenburgh ) Svear ( Swedes Stockholm) Juts ( Island of Gotland) Sweden the three ethnic tribes Swedes Goths and Juts merged to one country in the 1100ds called Tre Kronor ( Three Crowns) and the King of the three Kingdoms became of the King of Sweden ( Svea rike i.e. Sverige) The ironage people that went westward are called Vikings the ones that went eastwards were called Varangians ( Väringar in Swedish). The Varangian Rurik founded Russia in ( Kyivan Rus) in 830 AD.
"Yes, Chef" That's pretty Swedish, only using authority when you've been ignored three times. Oh, I wanted some moose/boar/kebab meat on top of those chantarelles. (Kantareller)
Unless you drive from city center to city center it’s more like half an hour than 45 minutes. It’s really just a bridge/tunnel combination, The cities are along the same highway on different sides of the Öresund.
I’d say it’s a typical English from a Swede 😂. We start learn very early and English is around us all the time, we use it in business and when traveling.
Lard is animal fat I believe. Might even be limited to fat from mammals. Not sure if you would refer to fat from fish as lard. The word fat is generic. Can be from anywhere.
Traditional nordic cuisine was already excellent, even if not "refined", it was delicious. I'd love to taste these new dishes but somehow, I find that it's a bit superfluous ... to improve on something that's already great.
Swedish food is very good, and danish even better. Norwegian food is deliscious and tasty too. Fresh and healthy. If you can really cook it and use fresh , quality products. Lot of seafood, fish, pork, lamb, potetos and vegestables. I am norwegian
I was at Koka some years ago and had a seven dish meal, har a lot of ”palate cleansers” in between the dishes to reset the taste buds. So more like 15 different experiences. It was a good day…
Malmö - Köpenhamn (Copenhagen) by train is 36min and 44min by car. Both via bridge/tunnel. The bread in the streetfood van is "Norrländskt Tunnbröd" (Norrlandish Thin bread)

Viking is a job description. When life on the home farm looks bleak, you strap on your sword and go viking at your neighbors looking for loot and slaves.

It’s a 52 minutes drive from Malmö to Köpenhamn/Copenhagen. It’s a bridge from the Swedish side ending in a tunnel close to Denmark.
Gothenburg is the English pronounciation. We don't call it that. The real name is Göteborg.
Yes. Gothenburg is the English name for Göteborg, like Copenhagen is the English name for København.
I live in Umeå, also known as the Town of Birches (Björkarnas Stad)🌳

To get to Denmark from Malmö, you take the commuter train across the bridge. Its about 15 minutes. You could drive, if you need to.
Can’t you take the bike (cykel) over the bridge too?
We have a bridge and tunnel from Sweden to Danmark ^^
Dont worry mate. I love your comments. 😊👍❤️🇸🇪
