Dude...my husband and I were so heartbroken for our son when Toys R Us was going bankrupt in 2018, we decided to take him to our nearby store that was closing when he was 2 yrs old. We told him we were going to a very special store full of toys and he could pick out a toy he wanted. We didn't know if the experience was going to be lost on him, but I'm telling you, Toys R Us, even in its decline, was so magical, even an autistic 2 yr old understood there's nothing like it. True. Bestbuy feels boring since they got rid of 4k movies, cds, etc... it's now a smart home store... for homeowners which is depressing to go into when ya rent. It's like shopping at an ikea knowing the place ya rent will never look like the kitchen from ikea. The funkopops are annoying... they should get get rid of them and open it for TCG selection & hosting a sport for tcg players. Local gamestores... I think the reason there aren't many sounds is due to the many complaints from people like me who have sensory issues. The loud noises from people and crying kids is enough so to top it off with electronic sounds is too much for others. Hope this helps :)

One of my favorite Best Buy moments was way back in 1996 where my friend and I on a Saturday morning just decided to go there as he lived next a mall where Best Buy was and we strolled over to the game section and low and behold there was a gray cart with games stacked on it and there was Donkey Kong Country 3 for the SNES brand new just sitting there not even put on the shelf yet and I grabbed a copy and bought it that day not even knowing it had released. That was an awesome weekend!
Riff, speaking on behalf of Target team members (I work at one) here is what I can tell you regarding self-checkout. My store doesn't open ours till about 12-1pm. Then usually it will get closed around 8:30 or later. This is to allow us enough time to go around to all of registers and "close them" for the day. I personally don't agree with how they operate, but I'm not Brian Cornell so you can take that up with him!
I've had a $75 gift certificate for Best Buy since Christmas before last and I STILL haven't used it because BEST BUY has jack shit unless I want kitchen appliances or a vacuum. Best Buy used to be one of my favorite stores when they sold media, now they are a appliance store
Um you know they have a website right? Also Best buy first and foremost is a common high tech store always was always will be... As a kid I my and nes and gambeboy from toys'r'us back in the day. That was childhood. The oldschool square box store with the vertical bar rainbow striped motif.
I went to Best Buy a couple days ago to help my dad find a laptop. Had a basic question about backlighting on the keyboard of one the laptops which proceeded into a 40 minute wait for the one guy in the PC section to finish up with the customer taking forever to get help. Ended up just rolling the dice and purchasing on my Best Buy app in store for my dad. All while several other Best Buy employees in other departments stood and chatted and couldn’t walk over and help one of us. Online shopping has just made it easier and I feel no need to go into one of these stores again…
True. I always research products on youtube before hand then order off amazon. The traditional retail experience takes too long to say there isn't anyone in these stores 90% of the time. I could go into best buy... and never need help 99% of the time and always get asked like 50 times if I need assistance, but the moment I go in there with the intention to buy something... it's always a long wait of finding an employee.
I'm so glad I was able to take my kiddos to Toys R Us before it closed down. Toys R Us had such a killer display back in the 80's and 90's era for consoles and games! Never forget!
Yeah my first retail job was being a cashier at Kmart and go ahead and ask anyone born within the last 20 years if they even know of that name. I'm a relic of the retail past.
I walk in to Sam’s club and I notice only 1 monitor has no screen display and I turn it on and no screen showing from a soulless ad. It’s a LG that has apps with it as well so I set up for movies and let it display by true display instead of soulless ads. Just look like the days I remember when I go in Sam club way back. The next day I come in to check the monitor display and was set to soulless ad. Very disappointed to see that and it’s how they are doing like this today.
I actually think we need to go back to spending at retail stores locally. There's an issue with online shopping, especially Amazon, where I worry about brand quality too much. At least in a brick and mortar store, you can see, touch and get familiar with a brand versus it being gone the next time you want it.
Woah. When did Target start having Gundam model kits? Granted it has been maybe a year since I was in my local one, but they never had those when I was there back then. Nor did they have that collector's section. The hood looks great, but frost? In CA? I get the no filming thing. Public place. People likely have caused issues with it for one reason or another. Some just don't like being filmed. The lack of display consoles to play and just fun music in general is sad, but I wonder if the lack of fun sounds may be an employee thing. Imagine working an 8 hour shift and the entire 8 hours you have to hear 1 game on loop that maybe nobody is playing, due to physical retail stores just not doing as well anymore. I used to work retail at a Macy's, which had no fun games or electronics, but even the loop of the music they played would get to me sometimes. Most of all in September, when they started doing Christmas things... yes, I said September... Christmas...
Riff, you really try hard to tug at our hearts man! Great video as usual! Toys “R” Us and Kaybee Toys will always be the two stores that make me sad that they are gone. 😢
When I was a kid walking around the toy stores is about all I did cuz we were broke lol. I'd say toy sections are actually better nowdays but the video game sections are shrinking with things moving to Digital games and alot of games being limited releases only nowdays make the video game section look empty, where as back in the day a game coulda cameout years ago and it kept getting printed thru the Greatest hits, Nintendo Selects, Player's Choice, etc. There's alot of Switch games I'd like to get but they were released a few years ago and apparently gone forever except on the secondary market or digital.
We would usually go to stereo system area and check out the speakers. You could play different car cd players and speaker combinations. Only best buy is an hour away I definitely haven't been there in over 15 years probably
We still have regular full size Toys R Us stores in Canada. They just announced they're closing a few though so I'm sure down the line there's a chance it goes the way of the U.S stores. But in the meantime anyone who's looking for that nostalgia hit of walking into one I can't recommended enough if you have the means make a trip up here to go to one.
As someone who is more than likely on ADHD/Austic spectrum the lack of sound drives me crazy. If I am at a party there needs to be sound it usually has to be loud because it will get boring. Even if a sound is loud and annoying It’s better than nothing.
since target did the whole 'chose your own bathroom' thing years ago, i stopped going. i even ignore higher paying delivery offers for orders from target. anywho.... thanks for your videos
Went to a Best Buy to find accessories for my digital camera. I went for the customer service because I want to make sure I got the right stuff, not being knowledgeable about such things. Let me just say that the customer service aspect was lacking. It seemed to be anyoneon staff in that department. Guys coming and going from the back room just filling pre-orders or something. I ended up just buying online after doing my own research. Don’t know how they stay in business, frankly.
POV me not knowing the last time i would step into a KB toy store or babbage's game store or Hollywood Video with the angry notes on the shelves stating do not make vhs mural with the DBZ vhs sets.
The magic is definitely gone. I used to go as a kid and just see what was there and hopefully grab something. As an adult, I basically only go when there’s something specific I want.
Last time I went to best buy they had only 5 to 7 ps5 games and xbox and Nintendo switch games. No movies. I ask for something if they have it. No but you can order it online. I said if i only order things online how long do you think you're going to be open. I don't know. That was 2 years ago
Lack of selection of physical media... defeats the purpose of me going into best buy & target... walmart .. I'll pop my head in since they still carry movies & other physical media formats, but their selection is mid depending on the walmart I visit.
@b4rs629 agreed. It ends up snowballing. Less variety=less customers, less customers=less variety. I do love going to thrift stores and flea markets though. They always have interesting things

I like that dumb and dumber toy. I like it A LOT 😂
I see what you did there 🤓
I'm so glad I was able to take my kiddos to Toys R Us before it closed down. Toys R Us had such a killer display back in the 80's and 90's era for consoles and games! Never forget!
Yeah my first retail job was being a cashier at Kmart and go ahead and ask anyone born within the last 20 years if they even know of that name. I'm a relic of the retail past.
I also can totally understand the excitement for that air duster
I walk in to Sam’s club and I notice only 1 monitor has no screen display and I turn it on and no screen showing from a soulless ad. It’s a LG that has apps with it as well so I set up for movies and let it display by true display instead of soulless ads. Just look like the days I remember when I go in Sam club way back. The next day I come in to check the monitor display and was set to soulless ad. Very disappointed to see that and it’s how they are doing like this today.
"That's why my physical media collection is now complete!" "Muahahahahahahaha!"
I actually think we need to go back to spending at retail stores locally. There's an issue with online shopping, especially Amazon, where I worry about brand quality too much.
At least in a brick and mortar store, you can see, touch and get familiar with a brand versus it being gone the next time you want it.
For my son!
gracias sucks the situation for muchos things amigo
thank you for the upload ❤
i love seeing places being that i am from the other side of the world (philippines). thanks for showing us around.
Hello from California my friend 🤍
You might wanna put a fire 🔥 proof wall up around the game room
When I was a kid walking around the toy stores is about all I did cuz we were broke lol. I'd say toy sections are actually better nowdays but the video game sections are shrinking with things moving to Digital games and alot of games being limited releases only nowdays make the video game section look empty, where as back in the day a game coulda cameout years ago and it kept getting printed thru the Greatest hits, Nintendo Selects, Player's Choice, etc. There's alot of Switch games I'd like to get but they were released a few years ago and apparently gone forever except on the secondary market or digital.
so you didn’t go to the K-Mart on Harbor? I used to pick up bangers from there!
My best buy ripped out all their DVD CD displays so no reason to go there anymore unless they start selling a larger variety of pokemon cards.
We would usually go to stereo system area and check out the speakers. You could play different car cd players and speaker combinations. Only best buy is an hour away I definitely haven't been there in over 15 years probably
5:52 music sounds like days of the new.
5:57 Woaaah that super mario world mario & yoshi lego set is amazing!!😍
Im not a legos guy at all but thaaat mofo is bringing back memories!!🥰
does anyone know what that song at the end of the video is?
since target did the whole 'chose your own bathroom' thing years ago, i stopped going. i even ignore higher paying delivery offers for orders from target.
anywho.... thanks for your videos
Target has a sick range of Exclusive TMNT stuff, which as a U.K. resident, I am very jealous of….
“Sir, you cannot be filming TikTok’s in this store sir” 😂
There was a switch right behind you to play when you said there are no systems to put your hands on. Ha!
Fav Part Has To Be The Epic Riff Dance😂 16:48
🕺🕺
I really like this New Style of videos that are not from the Flea Markets - you’re Funny and Good Story Telling!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
I have a similar airblower to the one in the video. It‘s really useful to clean computers.
I use it legit daily. I’m super OCD with dust
Never seen a Target with half as much as that on the shelf. Usually empty pegs and shelves.
Yooo is your van manual transmission?? If so i didnt think they would make vans like that in standard....
It’s auto 😝
Went to a Best Buy to find accessories for my digital camera. I went for the customer service because I want to make sure I got the right stuff, not being knowledgeable about such things. Let me just say that the customer service aspect was lacking. It seemed to be anyoneon staff in that department. Guys coming and going from the back room just filling pre-orders or something. I ended up just buying online after doing my own research. Don’t know how they stay in business, frankly.
When he said "stop whatcha doing" i thought he was gonna start singing the humpty dance
🕺🕺🕺
I don't really go to target or best buy anymore sense they stopped selling blu reys and DVDs.
Hopefully we can get a Pixel Game Squad Fire update video to know if anyone in the crew is being affected.
Brick and mortar stores make me sad nowadays. Lack of variety, empty aisles, no midnight releases.
Me: "Can we have flossing?"
Mom: "We have flossing at home"
The Flossing at Home: *16:48*
I’ll take it
Hitting those good nostalgia vibes 🥰
16:53 you've got the coolest jeans every video, how do you find such well fitting vintage jeans, consistently???
my retro pixel game squad
Dumb and Dumber find is awesome. My favorite movie!
I had to buy that!
Yeah theres not many Retail stores left that are worth visiting, least Scotland, unless they're small business
great videos
