Thanks Steve for another great informational video! Your knowledge is a treasure chest for pool owners and service teams. You have educated me so much. Keep up the great work and much health to you.
! 5: 5:57 something odd, not covered here. In ground pool, started leaking fast. Over 3days.Has lost half water. Then stopped. 12 feet deep. Stopped at the 6ft mark, well below, skimmer, and returns, and light. No signs water on pump house fixtures. Help!
Thanks for the video, what are the techniques to fix leaks in the pipes, other than digging them up? Are the methods shown in some videos that use epoxy with a long brush effective? I have concrete, and pavers over it, I am not sure how they can access those without messing up everything.
Question. My water level drops just below the skimmer. But water remains inside of the skimmer. If there was a leak in the skimmer wouldn't it be empty?
I capped off the line for my Polaris pump due to a broken underground PVC line. That broken line caused a leak that was very tricky to detect. The PVC for the Polaris line was a smaller PVC gauge than the PVC for my main pump.
Hi Steve. I have a new last fall 16x32 inground with no water features. What would be a normal evaporation rate for spring in Ontario? Thanks and love the videos!
Hi Steve, I think we have a leak but my husband says it’s the overfill leveling the water. The water goes right down to the bottom of the skimmer within a day or two
@@sneakerholic8151 Yes! Our handle or valve knob thingie wasn’t sitting properly in the filter position. It was kinda stuck on waste water. I bought a replacement valve from Amazon and it helped SO much! We were losing about 2 inches every day! Now I add water every 3-4 days because our old filter does have a leak. It’s a drip that we are going to try to take care of after summer. The pool man said our filter is like 15 years old and needs to be replaced but we aren’t ready to take on that expense. The only thing left to do is blow out the shallow end skimmer line because something is clogging it up. We are hoping to get that done next week. If you’re able to unscrew the backwash drain on your system that could help to see if water is leaking from there. Our valve was SO hard to turn and it was completely rusted and had to be replaced. Hope this helps. Let me know! Good luck!
I do not put a ton of faith in warranty coverage. If a company wants to find a loophole in the warranty coverage they will. I mean it says a lot that a company would even offer this, but far too many times I have seen what I consider to be legitimate warranty claims denied for improper installation or improper water chemistry. It's not realistic to have weekly water tests for the life of the appliance but that is what you need if you want to prove that chemical mismanagement is not the reason for the early appliance failure. I would just buy a quality appliance and I tend to not pay extra for additional warranty coverage.
So the water level in my inground 14 x 24 feet pool in Florida has dropped almost 3 feet to the middle of the light in the past 2 months. So it's not the skimmer nor returns. I don't see any cracks. should I. Wait to see if it drops below the light to know if it's the drain? if it doesn't drop further, should I remove the light and plug the conduit gap with butyl tape or that gray duct seal compound from Amazon that you recommend? thanks for your level advice. Should I turn off the pump now or while taking out the light until I fix the leak and refill the pool?
Is my main drain leaking if my pool cleaner always get stucked in that drain cover? My skimmer has 2 opening that has a diverted valve.I have never used that valve to avoid the pool cleaner to get stucked when passing that area, but lately it is getting stucked again.Should I just plug the drain if it is leaking?
No a sign of leaking. This is a common problem with many vac system to hang up on the main drain. Some manufacturers make a little ramp that helps the vac to not get hung up. Some people recommend to turn off the main drain or whole circ system when you vacuum, but this assumes a robotic vac, not a pressure or suction vac. In any case, not a leaking symptom.
Hi Steve, I lost all but a foot of water in my above ground pool over the winter. I patched a few tiny pin holes before I closed it up because I noticed it was losing water. I cannot figure out where the leak is. Would the leak slow down as the water level lowers? Does the weight of the water cause it to leak faster? Thanks!
The weight does cause it to leak faster. Usually the leak will be found at the waterline ypu end up with. Note the cover might have displaced some water as well making the waterline not accurate, but otherwise that is where I would look first
So great to have a video that gets straight to the point! Congratulations for being so good!

Hi, I have the same problem as you. Did you work it out?
Pool is closed for the season..didn't figure it out
@@italianbello1988ok, good luck for when it opens up again! If I figure it out myself I'll let you know

Very helpful thanks
Glad it helped

Mine is doing this too! Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated
@@amberjay5361 did you find out what the problem was? Mine is soon the same thing.

Is it worth getting a very expensive pool heater that has a lifetime warranty ($9,500) it has titanium parts I'm being told?

First time I heard niche pronounced light neesh. Lol. But I honestly believe thats its correct pronunciation

It's probably the light. I would be inspecting there first
Went below then I finally turned off pump. Should have turned that off first. It's the return.@@Swimmingpoolsteve

Why a guitar in a wet room
the room is humidity controlled and has great acoustics!
