This was the second video from her solo concert in September from her hard rock side project Northward. She wanted to be able to share this concert with all her fans around the world so the crowdsourced funds to have it professionally recorded. Each week they are releasing a song from the concert. Next will probably be my favorite song Floor sings, Sweet Curse, from her second band ReVamp.

Hi Jennifer. Good to see another Floor reaction from you (great pronounciation of her name). She sang this early September 2021 at the final show of her solo tour. It was such a great night, finally some live music after all that time. She is releasing a song from that show every Saturday, so there will be plenty for you to check out 😄
By the way, I enjoyed the song you did toghether with Hege a little while ago. I've been trying to get Hege to react to Nightwish and I was hopeful she would after meeting you 😉 No luck so far. Maybe you can tip her about Floor and Nightwish. Greetings from the Netherlands.

I was at this show in September. Far to the back of the venue, but an absolutely unforgettable show. Met her for the first time after the show too. Yes, I've met her more than once. Met her twice. She's such a sweetheart and so caring. Same can be said about Henk, the guy with whom she did Phantom. Henk is one of the funniest and sweetest guys I've ever met. Saw him twice together with Floor and once solo, after he invited me for that. Both are phenomenal and some of the most "normal" stars/famous people I've met.
Hope you'll react to more of her songs of this concert. Really hope you'll listen to Winner of that show, once it's released, but it's not released yet. It's one of my favorite songs ever. Both sung by Floor as well as by the original artist, Tim Akkerman.

Northward (the band that Floor did this song with originally) is a rock side-project that Floor did a few years ago. I feel like it shows her sort of bluesy/sultry side.

Go see/listen(!) to her live, if you can! I was there: it was amazing. And not only because it was the first concert in almost 2years that actually happened but - wow - that voice and energy. The videos won't have all the in between chats while technical difficulties were being solved: she is also very funny!😀

This show was amazing and can recommend watching more videos of this show. The entire show will be on RUclips. (I was there after 1.5 years of cancellations) Floor is known to play around with her voice to convey emotion or to maybe even caricaturize the sound to emphasize some lyrics. She does quite a bit of that sort of acting out in this song. Probably because the song is otherwise rather easy for her.

    • @JenniferGlatzhofer

Great analysis. You noticed here that Floor sometimes makes selective use of constriction as an intentional vocal effect to create a more 'squeezed' or 'pressed' sound where she feels its useful to tell the story of part of a song. Two great examples of other songs where she does that are Nightwish - Weak Fantasy and Nightwish - Yours is an Empty Hope (in the verses I mean, she does something else quite fascinating in the choruses).

First I want to absolutely say thank you for covering more of Floor's work. As a big fan of hers I really appreciate it. Having said that I have to add that my overall evaluation of Floor's CAREER is that her outstanding vocal abilities have been hampered by poor song selection and composition, and unfortunately, this song is an example of that. It just isn't a very good song. I'm especially disappointed when comparing her vocal abilities to other artists, and THEIR success. As we have seen in the press the past few days, ADELE has added to her Los Angeles real estate collection with the purchase of Sylvester Stallone's former residence for $58 million, adding it to her THREE previous L.A. properties: see "Singer buys new mansion NEXT DOOR to the two homes she owns in Beverly Hills suburb", Daily Mail, July 14, 2021, etc. The only real difference I can see between Floor's singing abilities and Adele's success is the song MATERIAL, respectfully. Not to mention (what you as a singing professional probably already know), the numerous surgeries Adele has had on her throat and the effect that has on singing. Finally, a real life example from just a few days ago. Some Canadian girls that I follow on TikTok were doing a "live" video, and I texted them "hello" and said that I was a big "Floor Jansen and Nightwish" fan, and wondered if they could use some of their live time to do a reaction to Floor, e.g., Ghost Love Score. Because I had put Floor's name first in my text message, they Googled "Floor Jansen" only, and the first thing that came up was this song, which they proceeded to play. After only a few seconds they stopped the video, saying "Sorry, Ted, we're just not into that", and moved on to suggestions from other watchers. Now I don't know if I will be able to get them to listen to any of Floor's other work again. So, there's my beef for the day! Hope you have a chance to cover some of Floor's other impressive work: "Adagio" (Lara Fabian cover), "Shallow" (Lady GaGa cover), "Que Si Siente" (Beste Zangers solo), "Elan", etc. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND SUCCESS IN 2022 !!

I will be covering more of Floor’s work for sure 😊 we all have opinions and I know that Floor is an incredible singer. I really enjoyed this song and thought it was different to her usual. Different, not bad. If we (and i’m referring to the reference you made from the story about the live) judged a singer by watching only one of their performances, then we haven’t really given them a try. They may have been ill, the song might not be to their taste. So I do hope they give Floor another go! 😁

I feel she's at her best when Tuomas is involved, but I like what I've heard of Northward. She's lucky she's been a part of so many projects that she has no problem grabbing tracks for her growing extended audience. (Well, lucky isn't quite the right word - lots of people want to work with her because she's hard working and talented).

I was kind of thinking about a new idea of a reaction channel introducing a new band in their channel. Yes, everyone can suggest a new band that the creator has never heard of, but they have to provide two songs. One is not for reaction. It is for the creator to listen to privately to peak their interest to react to the other song on camera

  • @soleywolfgangsdottir

i can highly reccomend two artists who are certainly amongst the best voices of our time, anna von hausswolff and susanne sundfor.
anna is a composer, organist, singer songwriter from sweden and her work is quiet outstanding from everything you know. also owner of pomperipossa records, her music is described sometimes as funeral pop, sometimes as post metal. nothing fits, she is a genre on her own.
please compare "they hoped for a name" with "funeral for my future children" or - if you have time - with "ugly and vengeful"
susanne is norwegian and whatever she does is brilliant.
to me her feature song "when the lord" for the norwegian documentary self portrait, a documentary about the work and life of photographer lene marie fossen, who suffered from anorexia since the age of ten, is such a emotional journey. a song you will never forget.
another song is "the brothel" live at cigalle. sadness and melancholy pearls out of her mouth and her fingers directly into her music and builds a warm blanket around you in the darkest and coldest night.

I know that Floor used to smoke, but that's been a long time ago. I wonder if that could have subtly changed her voice and "made it what it is today", in ways that might not have if she hadn't smoked for that time?
