Love learning those Vidal methods. Wish all schools were teaching them but alas. You are so down to earth and real. Thank You for sharing your knowledge with us as it helps greatly to make us better hairstylists.
Liking the classic Sassoon techniques with your own modern twists. His legacy will never leave us. I love the YS Park diffuser too, I like the way it throws out heat without blowing the air out too much disturbing the hair whilst drying. Great work as usual thanks for sharing and keeping us in touch with education. Shaun, Nottingham
Absolutely I think we will still be referencing in another 100 years or more. Yes the Y.S park diffuser is wicked and that is a perfect description of how it works. Cheers Shaun 👍🏻😁
Thanks a lot James, you have a gift to teach, go ahead with more videos, and don't forget to make a video with the scissors holding techniques. Thanks a lot
Mordecai Ribgy thank you I will certainly make more videos 😁👍🏻 and yes I will be making a video about holding scissors it should be a couple of weeks away 👍🏻
@@TheLifeOfHair I did and I even tried it out on my Mum. My first try. I have a long way to go. I also showed her the video and loved it. She has always been a fan since the 60s. We go to their Academy into London but since Lockdown not possible. Thanks!
Very very nice 👍 I did something similar to this on one of my heads Previously permed, I kept that loose texture on front, top and back and skin tapered from the ears up and back in a C shape (I hate to call it a Mohawk shape lol) I was thinking of someof the characters on Aeon Flux, I don’t know if you’ve seen the mtv cartoon and movie, it’s super futuristic. That was my inspiration 🌊 True story... the head was a level 5 highlighted heavy and my instructor said the color should be more futuristic as well, so I bleached it icy white and did a super violet purple ombré on the curls, I got a 💯 lol
Thank you very much for a great question but is quite a tricky want to answer this all intensive purposes. Each of the techniques that I use or produced similar results it’s about finding one of the techniques that works best for you.In terms of how you pick the best technique for your client was that is down to the consultation the length that you want to leave behind where you want to distribute the weight to is all personal obviously to the choice of the client will you get to understand the techniques that I have demonstrated in these videos the ETA you will be able to utilise them to create the shape is your clients once practice is king here my friend
Generally when I’m cutting a pixie cut I don’t specifically trim the length at the back the length is generally created by the overall layering pattern I might refine the length down freehand afterwards depending on the needs of the haircut and head shape
Fantastic Jacqui, yes a wee Razor cut would be do able for sure, I might see if a friend of mine who is a razor geniuswiuld be up for doing a video for me 😁👍🏻
Beautiful! Did you do the colour as well? I never would have guessed her hair had that much natural curl...perfect short cut for her. Thank you James! What yspark comb?
Yes I do use clippers sometimes not that often though I trained with a Sassoon we didn’t really use clippers there I actually use clippers before I was with those guys that I was a barber to start with. Glad you enjoyed it
@@TheLifeOfHair Good morning James. How are you?It is so cold in Melbourne. How about there? My 2 senior hairdressers who I work with. They trained with Sassoon too.I like Sassoon way. Love the work fantastic haircut!! Just wondering what pair of shears are you using and for this style of cutting would you recommend crane handle for this technique of cutting? Have you ever experimented with a swivel and whats your take on that? Thank you again!
J Alexander Thank you, the Shears are Kasho XP 5.3 inch semi offset. I have a Variety of sizes styles but for short precision work I always go for straight semi offset 5 or 5.5 inch I’ve had swivel some scissors in the past well only one pair I like them, I sold them to a fellow stylist who developed RSI she loved them. Best J 😁👍🏻
@@TheLifeOfHair I'm exactly the same in having different sizes of scissors for different cuts. It tends to be mood related what size I use lol including the comb! @@shaunie57 I actually own a pair of Mizutani DB20's 5.7"; wanted to love these shears but they just never grew on me like they did amongst several other stylists I work with. Very sharp and powerful blade I will say that but; to my liking just felt like there was something missing; not sure exactly as to what it was but I did have to retire them very early unfortunately. With that being said never really crossed my mind till @The Life Of Hair mentioned about purchasing and selling shears; I would love to trade shears with anyone interested with a pair of shears in the similar ballpark price range wise as the Mizutani DB20's!
