Vanessa in Phoenix - consider talking to a real estate attorney about bifurcating your parcel with the two homes and selling as two separate single family residences. Best of luck!
Regarding Jack in Cleveland and his daughter and ex-wife, I love the advice just letting her know I can afford X amount - or whatever but why do parents today think they have to buy everything for their children, my siblings and I we all got a part-time job and worked to get our car and if we were short a little, our parents helped us, but I think far too many parents let their kids guilt them into having to buy everything for them… you’re 16 - let’s get a part-time job and you can work 20 hours a week. and maybe Dad can put in $1500 mom will put in $1500 and the child can put in $2000 or whatever it is, and use her birthday and Christmas money, she should be saving that she gets from grandparents, etc., And overall show the child They need to be responsible and they will take care of the car rather than just “expect” everything they ask for because that’s not what life is all about.
I have to agree with you. My parents didn't "give" me a car, nor pay for my college. I worked hard, had a few bumps in life, & was still able to pay for my car & college. I don't understand the current "entitled" generation.
The CALL was quite absurd. Now as for the concept of arranged marriage both Ken and John said they understand it’s a culture thing, and they weren’t trying to disrespect it.
The braces - ask your child what they think about their teeth too. Can you do extra to pay for it? Can the kid take a summer job? Can the other parent pay more and do side job. Car is a total no if there's not the money. Because there's insurance and gas and repairs. It's never ending.
Sheesh at that first caller. $900k net worth and wondering when to start giving. “You should’ve started giving years ago” was right! Yet I recently saved $2000 and I was wondering when to start being generous. Crazy.
Giving money doesn't come naturally to everyone. They may not be giving money right now but they may be at the same time volunteering at a local charity, tutoring kids for free etc. That's too is giving. And that's giving time which is way more valuable than money. I command them for asking the question about giving money now. That shows they thought about it and want to make it part of their life now. Many people will never reach that point despite being very wealthy.
I hate those calls. Just people with a lot of money, bragging in my opinion. I wish they'd put those calls on another show instead of this one. This show should be about helping people with real financial problems, not allowing people to bloviate about what a good position they're in.
58:40 Ouch! I feel the judgement rolling off John and Ken in waves regarding this arranged marriage. Just because it's not the "American" thing to do doesn't mean it's not done elsewhere. You both derogatorily commenting is rather disgusting, to be honest. It's a cultural thing that you two (nor I) understand, so you should have kept your opinions to yourselves and just answered his question about being fearful he couldn't provide the lifestyle his fiancee was brought up in.
Umm no. The guys situation was ABSURD! Also, Ken and John made it clear they were not being disrespectful to the concept of arranged marriage. They were laughing at the absurdity of the guys situation. It wasn’t a traditional or cultural “arranged marriage” this is a guys overbearing mommy wanting him to marry a wealthy girl. Dr. John has talked about many times that arranged marriages actually have a great success rate, but not when you just get thrown into it like this 19 yr old guy is.
These two, can be so insensitive. Just because your beliefs don’t align with other cultures, beliefs, it’s quite disrespectful and unprofessional to joke, and make fun of others. The level of arrogance and ignorance is offputting.
Quick question: Do you people ever bother to LISTEN? Both Ken and Dr. John made it clear they were not disrespecting the concept of arranged marriage. John has even said multiple times that arranged marriages have a great success rate. This is NOT that situation. That call was quite absurd and was not the traditional arranged marriage call. Try listening at 1:01:22 and stop berating the personalities who are just trying to help people!
Yes they realized they were about to get roasted for just that and prolly got a message in the ear piece and switched the tune very fast. They were about to go off the rails and producers had to reel them back
teaching is fairly low pay on average. However, there are some very competitive teaching jobs that do pay quite well. Wealthy towns. These folks have probably had some other great advantage, a lucrative side hustle or an inheritance. At the college level, the jobs pay so poorly that tears are involved.
I am both a retired teacher and an adjunct (part-time) professor - did both jobs for over 30 years. Teacher pay might be considered low, but there are many advantages - same schedule as your children, holidays off with your children, we have a pension plan in our state, and health insurance. Teachers who claim they work hours at night, on every holiday, and over the summer very often are not using their time wisely and learning ways to become efficient. ( I was a department chair for well over a decade and saw it all.) Teachers also often have other tax-free investment vehicles through their work. I was able to save just enough to keep my tax bracket low and it paid off very well over a career. College level pay is NOT low for tenured professors, particularly in light of the numbers of hours worked! Part-time college level pay may be low, but that is because those jobs are NOT intended to be full-time jobs. Those who stay in low-paying education jobs hoping something "might open up" need to realize it is their CHOICE to stay in that career - other options are available, so stop complaining and find something else if you need more pay. Long story short - we are both now retired, we saved and are very comfortable and I know I can live fine if my husband dies before me because I have both a pension and and IRA from the other funds I invested, and my pension plus my social security equals more than what I was making the last year of teaching - we have seen no drop in our standard of living. Work hard, stay out of debt, live on less than what you make, invest, and PAY OFF YOUR HOUSE EARLY and you will be just fine! This is true for everyone, including teachers.
The smartest thing for anyone to keep in mind right now should be to have different streams of income that are not dependent on the government. Especially with the current financial crisis around the world. This is still a good time to invest in gold, silver and digital assets hmm
Of course, you can make a profit without having to sit on the chart all day. I personally gain over 13k every week and have never sat down to analyze or look at a chart. I just let a professional manage my business according to an agreement, information is power my friend.
Kids for the most part do not appreciate college if they dont have to pay for atleast part of it. If they are the sort thats motivated to work hard in college theyll be the sort who can work to oay part of it.
I love this show idea Ken Coleman! We need more inclusivity in our group of debt free warriors! I’m not a Christian, but I respect the right of people to worship. My religion gets slandered and incorrectly labeled in “the media” but in fact the writings we have are very aligned with Ramseys debt free mentality and we also have Management Technology to help an executive lead, and a person work, etc. There’s SO much to share with others to help them! So, naturally, I am so delighted to see you are hosting a more inclusive show based on statistics “key statistics” so, the actual success or lack there of as opposed to they know the right person, etc. Anyway, so so Happy For you and the team! Well done! Can’t wait. In the end- only kindness matters- Jewel Kilcher-
Vanessa's numbers did not add up. If the 2 homes on one parcel sells for $500,000 she still has to pay off the mortgage on those properties of a $166,000 and split the profit after paying capital gain taxes with her brother-in-law. That doesn't even give her enough money to pay off her current house, let alone build an airbnb on her current property.
Watching Ken's and John's face listening to Adam's class is hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣Clearly these two have never heard of an arranged marriage - but he will be tied to the parents of that family forever. I lived in a country that had arranged marriages and Americans do not understand it. This is totally the way it's done in other mid-eastern or Asian cultures. Marriages are even arranged when the children are kids. Do not criticize the Mom, she is doing what she knows. But Adam should say no - he is too Americanized. Americans think you fall in love and then marry the person you fall in love with - but divorce rates are very high among couples who come from vastly different backgrounds with different assumptions and values. In other cultures the idea is you trust your parents to pick for you someone with whom you can make a good marriage and THEN you learn to love.
Arranged marriage concept is foreign for us in the western side of the world. I could hear in this guy’s question a genuine concern on how he would be able to provide to the woman he is looking to get married.
I retired a year ago and knew I needed something outside of the home so I now volunteer at a hospital and a theater, ushering. It is "work" but I enjoy doing it and it does me good. So the data is right.
In the 50's my late dad worked a modest job, mom was a housewife, and they lived a nice lifestyle including owning a home. Nowadays both I and my partner work and can barely afford to make ends meet. Luckily, I've just received an inheritance of $500,000 and concerned how best to use money. Should I pay mortgage since I’m still working, or do I invest in stocks instead for better return on investment?
If you’re reading this, try giving. Even if it’s just loose change, give something, and try to make a habit of it. It completely changes your perspective and helps you to worry less about money
I love that Ramsey promotes generosity and tithing while in Baby Step 2. I have experienced it firsthand! God can accomplish way more, without my hands on that teeny tiny 10%.
The young kid who called a Republican show supporting Trump to ask a question about wedding arrangements is absurd to me. This dude should just call the immigration office and tell them that story instead because the whole world knows about that story now. You can't make this up. 😂😂😂🤔🤔
@haha-cm6pg I only say "gross" because it sounds like the young woman doesn't have a choice or is highly pressured. It's a highly personal decision, and it should be fully within her will and his for himself.

His guidance allowed me to restructure my retirement plan, resulting in an estimated $700,000 more by the time I retire.
I'm in baby step 2 and I give when I can, doesn't matter if it's small. If I can be generous and help, I will.
I absolutely love when the waitress picks up the tab with the money and tip and I say keep it, and she says, “Are you sure?”

When I first read Lost Scrolls of Jewish Wealth, I realized how stuck I was in the system. It’s crazy how much it changed my perspective.

Yes it is.
These country bumpkins (hosts) are a hoot. I wouldn't take advice from them on anything financial though. Ever.
Adam, talk to the girl, try to know her. If she is what you are looking in your future wife, and you love each other, marry her.

900k not nearly enough
My net worth is 3 million at age 48 and I don’t think that is enough.
Donate 20% to charity...Ken gave bad advice...they are not even millionaires...doubt Ken is giving 20% of his income
I’d def get a part-time job to pay for braces, or any other essential expenses, for my child.
they are not essential
Braces aren’t solely for cosmetic purposes
A lot of winning lately!!!
