@@EARART EBay It was covered top to bottom in stickers. You couldn't even see anything original. Nobody was bidding on it for this reason. I messaged the guy and asked him if nobody bid, could I send a best offer? Nobody bid, I sent an offer and that was that. Real nice guy. Gave me an AMAZING deal.
It took me a little while to come to terms with how good clips are but it really is a game changer - you can sketch out ideas so fast and then turn them into tracks. Its a bit odd at first coming from the other view but to me its well worth investing a bit of time having a look!
I wiped my computer the other week but luckily this beat was saved in my 'beats for videos' folder somehow lol. Its all I've got to put under my videos at the moment but yeah its an old one that I made just for some background music. I appreciate the compliment though man
Really interesting video as usual ;) I was wondering if you have used the SP 505. Seems like it's the only vintage SP sampler with a reasonable price and also has some cool features like the chop button or the waveform. Is it worth it to buy it? Thanks! Keep up the good work!!
I've not tried it but you're right the prices on those seem to be staying low which is good. I don't think I need to add to the collection now though really, I've got a lot of bases covered with the various SPs Ive got!
Yes thanks for the video! Would love to see more of your workflow between the SP devices and Ableton as well as best practices for exporting your clips to the SP(404) for live performances. Would be awesomeness! Keep the content flowing
Hey man, idk if you read these comments so long after posting but I've had a 202 for about a year now and I never am able to use it because every power supply I buy (4 as of now including my 404 and 303 power supplies) doesnt seem to work... So I'm forced to power the 202 by battery and those six batteries dont last longer than one beat making session... I'm at a loss. Do you think it's the power supply connection on the unit? or am I buying supplies from the wrong places?
not really easy for me to tell. You just need a 9v charger as far as I am aware. I use the same charger for all my devices, its just the one that came with the 404sx. Works for all the SPs as they are all 9v. Be careful though you don't want to fry the thing!
Great video! You can also convert your simpler after you have set your markers and transpose if doing to a drum rack! This allows you to be able to process each chop individually as well as quickly change which chop is on which pad! It’s great. I’ve only went back to Ableton recently after spending so much time on 404sx. Waiting for my Scarlett 4i4 to replace my 2i2 so I can use my sx as an external effect on ableton! Can’t wait!
You’re going to get hiss, true! But if you’re getting “hum” plug it into it’s own socket, avoid multi plug extension cables. The sp202 is really sensitive to grounding issues. Give it a go 👍
yeah think I've actually mentioned about that before but its not that easy with my set-up. sockets are quite far from my desk unfortunately. I've heard using the batteries instead is a good way to resolve it too! Thanks for sharing man!
@@spvidz I’ve got the same issue with a lack of sockets, my phone plugged in seems to cause the loudest hum. My work around this is I use a guitar pedalboard power supply to power the 202, it’s 9v ,200ma, and it’s isolated
Ahh nice, yeah I think rechargeable batteries would probably be the best bet for me, I reckon that could help with the SX as well tbh. I get a lot of interference at my house.
I really like the idea of this process.. I have the SP808 and what i was thinking of doing was making loops in ableton bouncing them to the SP all on one bank.. then using ableton to sequence the entire song using one clip with just the loops.. That way it sounds like it's all coming from the 808 sound wise but I can do all of the creative work in ableton ..
Hey, very helpful video thanks! Can you tell me if I‘d need the volume knob when recording the sample back to ableton? Or is the volume of the sample going back dependent to the control/rec knob only, so like it was recorded originally?
I can't remember off the top of my head. When you can see the signal in ableton just try the volume dial and see if it has any effect. If it does, set it to a level that is strong but not going into the red
@@spvidzi could get a broken one where the volume knob and some pads are broken at cheap price …but i guess I will look for a unit in more decent shape instead of gambling. Just want the device for the processing as you did - thanks anyway :)
I don't own one unfortunately and not too keen on the idea as the other SPs I have cover the bases. 303 fx etc. I know the fx are meant to be good but don't think its worth the investment at the moment considering how stupid the prices have gone for used gear! Looking at about £400 for one here...
Do you still mess with the mpc live 2 anymore ?
There's an update about that coming very soon 👍
@@spvidz ............ lol
I still have it and am using it don't worry. All will be clear soon 😉
@@spvidz cool bro I'll wait for the upload lol
Just got one of these last week. Very nice pitch effect. I've made some extremely grimmy sounds 😊
Yeah the pitch combined with the samples rates gets you some really raw sounds! Congrats on the purchase! 🙌
Where did you find one, I've been looking for years

where did you get that rule of thumb by? The mono for drum samples and stereo for other sample types? Very helpful.
Can't remember exactly where. I guess just watching countless beat making videos. But yeah I always have my drums as mono :)
🖤
❤️✌️
Pls host a beat battle
Yeah I've been thinking about doing one!
That slicing idea is useful!
Yeah i love simpler for slicing. It’s so fast
Dope video man, that beat was fire as well 🔥
SP-202 brings back a lot of happy memories.

That 202 sure sounds good... crunchy!
Yeah its dope if thats the kind of vibe you want. Sounds crunchy as hell. You can always mellow it out a bit with some eq too.
Very interesting process ! Thanks for sharing this 😊 👍

You should make a tutorial on how to export sp 303 beats and send them into soundcloud
what? you missed several steps there pal.

AM atm DAW. yes 202 sp been in storage
There is still a lot you can do in a DAW but the 202 is really nice for the extra spice!
Do you use this with the 404? I have a 404sx and FL studio.
You could do the same thing easily. Same process.
Cool workflow
Thanks man. Really enjoying it at the moment 🙌
