The Dutch rails are simply amazing. The rides are smooth, the trains usually clean, and the staff is helpful and speak better English than many US citizens. I was amazed at the sheer frequency of the trains. One of the best thing I saw, from an airplane, was trains going under boats.
Need to point out that there are different styles of VIRM with different furnitures in each one. These are in my opinion the least comfortable in First Class and it's inconvenient that the armrests are not adjustable. The recently upgraded VIRMm1 and VIRMm2 each have completely different fixtures and arrangements. There are also many functional changes between them such as folding seats, reading lights, power outlets and redesigned toilets. It's remarkable how NS has continued to evolve the VIRMs with a new configuration every 5 or so years.
Flash back to the time of 1975 Christmas weekend. I had traveled from Naples, Italy to MidLaren, Netherlands. I did go thorough Arnhem Netherlands to get to MidLaren, Netherland by the way of Amsterdam Express. Thank you for the memories of yesterday.
I was just about to say that it was a nice change to see a dutch train that hadn't been vandalised inside... then I got to the bit of the video about the on board toilet being disgusting! 🤣💩

@@stepsister3859 Well that depends on what you're after. The easiest places to get around via transit are those in the Northeast (Boston do Washington DC). Amtrak runs intercity services frequently, and most cities on the route have pubic transit to get you across that last mile to your destination. If you're looking for long distance routes with great scenery, then the Cardinal, Empire Builder, California Zephyr and Coast Starlight are the ones to Aim for. The first three of those operate out of Chicago, which also sees some great intercity and commuter service from Amtrak and Metra. If warm coastal weather is what you want, then the west coast is best. You can start down in San Diego and take the Pacific Surfliner up to LA, then go up to San Francisco on the Coast Starlight from there. San Francisco has two of Amtrak's nicer intercity routes in the Capitol Corridor and San Joaquins, plus there's local and commuter rail services too. Farther north there's Seattle and Portland, which are connected via Amtrak cascades, which operates 5 round trips daily. You can also catch a ride on the Coast Starlight up to the northwest from LA if you want to string the two areas together. And you can get up to Canada if you want. Regardless of what you end up choosing, you'll have a great time, but keep in mind that a lot of the long distance routes are often overnight, with multiple lasting over two days, so if you end up going with Coach to save money, it's gonna be a long ride. Sorry if that was a lot, but there's just so many options. Lmk if you have any more questions about route specifics, and I'd be happy to help!

You were right about the algorithm not favouring these videos... Sad because they are some of the most interesting. Maybe it's just not recommending to your usual audience?
My audience is 70% US based, so the algorithm just doesn’t recommend these international videos to them. That in turn results in a lower click through rate, which results in fewer recommendations, and the cycle continues. It really only takes one successful international video for the algorithm to recognize the potential audience, so I’m just going to keep putting them out when I can in hopes that one works.

The narrator does an amazing job articulating perfect English and then articulating Dutch (?) in a single sentence. Very cool train.

Boy, you get around. Arnhem Central is amazing architecture and the curvy wooden roof is both warm and sexy.
Im a train driver For NS so if u have any questions i will try to answer it. Thanks for visiting Arnhem!
Awesome! So glad you stopped by. As a train driver, do you usually stick to one or two routes, or do you rotate through multiple?

Too bad with the bathroom. Everything else looks so clean
Yeah, I was surprised at the stark contrast between bathroom and train cleanliness. I expected it to be like a DB bathroom, but it was just awful.
