I don't understand why this genre isn't more popular. It's awesome. No one did it quite like the Shining Force games, upgrading your characters was also exciting!
This genre is as popular as its ever been. Just look at Fire Emblem! Too bad the Shining series walked away from this and became a cookie cutter low-tier waifu factory of a JRPG.
@@AlexRN First Shining game was a Dungeon Crawler, you know... I kinda want the OG artist to come back. I love their art style in Shining Force and Landstalker.
This is the only _Shining Force_ game released in the US I never completed. I rented it, and a Sega CD, twenty-five years ago and got all the way to the end of Book 2 but had to return everything before I could finish it. That still haunts me because I was one battle away from the end boss!
You can still get this game through the power of emulation! You can download it from various Genesis/ Sega/Mega CD rom sites, along with sites like Zophar's Domain for emulators.
My only gripe with the CD version is that it took out all the exploring, just focusing on the battles. I obviously like the battles but to not have exploring is a strange omission.
Was a very rare game on the mega CD. I only knew one friend with it and you could only get the first volume. The second volume was never released outside Japan so remember it being a disappointment when we got to the end and it said insert volume 2 to continue the story....
I've only played the first SF game on my Xbox 360, I haven't even beaten it. But for some reason this game fascinates me. Gotta get around to playing more of the series
In fairness, these were originally Game Gear games, so they had to be smaller in size. That said, I felt the same way when I played it and was really disappointed.
@ismailtoprakci9593 The game is basically a combined collection of remakes of the first two Shining Force Gaiden games that were on Game Gear with some extra bells and whistles. Final Conflict (basically Gaiden 3) is still stuck in Japan, however.
Jammer genoeg heb ik alleen book 1 en 2 kunnen spelen omdat ik het geheugen niet, en door Hufters uit de U.K. nooit book 3 kunnen spelen . El het geld pakken maar niet leveren. Mijn GOBREXIT
When i lived in alaska for 2 years this series kept me busy in those cold wkntwr months.
Hola amigo Excelente vídeo Saludos 😎😎😎👍👍👍👍👍

A Shining Force game with Shining Force 2 graphics with Fire Emblem Blazing Sword mechanics would be perfect.
@@KeyleeTamirian Sadly Kenji Orimo (the original artist for Shining Force and Landstalker) passed away recently.

It really feels good to know that there are other hard core SEGA fans out there I don't feel so alone SEGA forever!!!

@Sadist Fake Bootleg Tiki I don't understand code. English please.
@@pferreira1983 shut up
Wait, what? Thats almost as stupid as when Actraiser 2 turned into just a side scrolling hack n slash. The city building was the best part!
@@BDBD16 Yeah it's just battles from one to the next. Zero exploring. No RPG elements.
It's because the Sega CD version was a port of game gear games that were not released stateside
I wish i had had this back when I had a Mega-CD. It was a hand me down from my father when he got a PS1, and I only ever remember a few games on it.

This game could have been so much more if they added open world exploration like and actual towns
That's because the Game Gear games this is based on had no towns.
WELL DONE! Thank you for the playthrough!
This game should be called Shining Force: The Next Generation ✨
I too wonder why they got Lazy on this one and didnt have Towns/exploration
In fairness, these were originally Game Gear games, so they had to be smaller in size. That said, I felt the same way when I played it and was really disappointed.

3:49:19 Oh, boy...
This looks like a cool game.
They make no use of the CD except for the music. Working Design made a better job with Lunar.
and i hate to say it, but the cd audio has none of the charm of the FM tracks...
I disagree if they tried to make it look modern it wouldn't work
I completely understood a game with four legged centaurs, but how about including four armed creatures the next time Shining Force comes out?
Did you do really this part in eight hour?
Which shining force is it? It's not 1 or 2.
It's full remake of the 2 exclusives shining force games for the sega game gear.
@@RetroPiero it's not a remake of 2. I've watched all shining force 2. It's shining force for sega cd.
