Somebody please explain to me how anyone gave this a thumbs down. This is one of the finest layouts ever built and one we all wish we could duplicate in quality and detail. Larsen is a MASTER
More than likely it's probably people that are jealous because they can't do what he can do or they just don't want to take the time to learn how to make something look that realistic, or it could just be that he mentioned not to mention, about the whole McDonald's thing which I've already established that comment on the main comments so yes it's probably just people that are jealous of his work.
some people just get off on belittling the achievements of others because they are boring uninteresting people with no imagination. Luckily RUclips doesn't distinguish between likes and dislikes as they are all pretty much the same when it comes to exposure.
Spectacular! The level of detail is outstanding and second to none. All scenery is very realistic and very believable. Your roads are some of the best I've seen. Can't say enough about how beautiful your model railroad is. Thank you very much for sharing your work with others ............. it is inspirational. Mike
I live in Texas and I live next to a railroad that goes down to the trinity river and I see that locomotive all the time so this is a very relatable setup to me which really adds to the enjoyment. I've been to a lot of these places, I've never really been to downtown Livingston but I've spent a whole lot of time around Lake Livingston.
I’m working on a module currently and modeling the smithville yard with the maintenance fleet as well, very excited and love knowing living from this area modeled it’s extremely on point to what is demonstrated
Per, congratulations on completing your railroad scenery. I really think it's a work of art. You show your research, and re-created your idea's and executed them beautifully. You have an eye for detail and realism that a lot of modelers just seem to ignore for some reason, which is why your layout stands out as one of the best in the model railroad community. I like that you kept it prototypical and would love to see some operation session video's in the future. You've done yourself proud and now have a beautiful layout to enjoy for years to come. Thank you so so much for sharing your layout with us all so that we too can enjoy it. Would also love to see some modeling technique videos on how you manage to get such realism and character into your modeling. You are definitely an inspiration to all model railroaders and certainly raised the bar for the rest of us. Thanks again Per for all the great videos you have on your channel and for sharing your awesome railroad with us. Take care, Cheers!!
Outstanding creativity! I'm am only just beginning my own MR endeavor but I am far to critical and picky for my own good, tho you are one of very few modelers actually giving me inspiration and hope. It took me months to come to my senses enough to accept the fact that I would need and never have at least an acre of track area to model the O gauge I originally wanted to be satisfied, now I am in the 2nd month of research into deciding the best power / control system that will best suit my needs - wants. I expected there would be changes but model railroading is an entirely different world from my 1st childhood Lionel set. The available endless possibilities are exciting but I honestly never imagined the level of education and planning that needs to happen before even making the 1st purchase of materials toward modeling a specific road. It is an exciting journey to begin! Cheers!
As a British modeller, this is what I imagine a US railroad model should look like. It captures the essence of a railroad running the American landscape perfectly. A beautiful work of art.
Hats off to you, sir. You have obviously devoted yourself to this project. It is the best I have seen, hard to tell the model scenes from the actual photos. I might try just spending the afternoon clicking on the thumbs up button!
This is unbelievable. I could tell it was East Texas simply at a glance, the first time I ever saw one of your videos and before I read any comments or saw any subtitles. La Grange in particular has to be a contender for some kind of award.
I must tell you Mr. Larson, you have completely captured the East Texas landscape beautifully. Being from Shreveport, I've driven the Hwy 59 corridor more times than I care to mention, either going or coming back home from Houston. But, I have to admit, seeing your layout reminds me of the small towns of Tenaha, Timpson and Garrison Texas area. But, I totally see the east Texas vibe of anywhere south of Lufkin as well, because naturally, that's were Livingston is. Bottom line, your layout is a Top 3 in my book. As a kid, I used to love it as my dad would pace the SP trains while driving 59 going to Houston on family trips. Great layout sir.
Pears, WOW 👍. I stumbled upon your layout and channel = subscribed. You have one of the best modern era layouts I've ever seen. Built with such precision! I'll have to watch the rest of your videos to learn more. It go's to show that less track on a model train layout is more appealing. 👍 Thanks, George
This is the best practical layout I have ever seen. It's so clean. But the terrain is equal to none. Great artistic technique. Great eye for detail. Really enjoyed this video. Going to use it for reference.
Absolutely fantastic layout! In particular your paved roads and intersections are very impressive, would love to see a tutorial on how you made them so realistic looking.
There are not enough superlatives to describe this layout. This is the modern equivalent of the Franklin and South Manchester layout in so far as realism and attention to detail is concerned. Congratulations on a superb layout.
Your layout is fantastic, Per. The video presentation and tour was very enjoyable. Commendable work and your hobby will always require your devout attention.
As a fellow train layout person you've done a fabulous job I admire what you have done you inspiring me I just have a small room not even half the size what you would have but I do have a small layout you've done a fabulous job
I currently live in Livingston and you really nailed it. Coming through town was one of my favorite parts of running on the Lufkin sub. The curve coming through downtown looks really neat from the cab of a locomotive. Great job, really neat.
There are a number of exceptional layouts on video today but for your available space I think the track plan and scenery combination are the best I have seen, really exceptional prototypical operation love all the grade crossings.
Just beautiful. An absolutely beautiful body of work. You say that it's done in the video, I wonder if that is something that any model railroader ever wants to admit. Regardless, I just saw your channel today and am really impressed with your modelling prowess. Excellent job. I look forward to watching the rest of the videos and checking out your website. Thanks!
impeccable - even preternaturally realistic - scenery and detailing. real artistry on display here. looks like photographs of an "idealized" real world - where everything was kept immaculately clean. damn. this beats even the world-famous Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg Germany. as awesomely detailed as that showcase is - its scenes would never be mistaken for photos of reality.
This is an AWESOME Layout!!! From the oil stains in parking spaces, to the reflections in water, to the strobe on the radio tower!!! Amazing Attention to Detail!!! If you can figure a way to run the oil pumps quietly, it would be PERFECT in every way!!!!!! Outstanding Job!!!
This is just the most awesome layout ever! It is very detailed and beautiful! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this, and will definitely be referring back to it as I try to build my own city!
Absolutely beautiful, wow, simply amazing. The clumps of spotty grass mounds is what I found the most fascinating feature. It looks like real field grass, growing on heavy rock dirt. So real looking WOW this must have taken you years and years to finish.
That is spectacular! What a layout. So much to love in this. The details, the realism. Have been looking for something like this for a long time. Kudos on hard work.
It is amazing, man! I also love the addition of La Grange, only because I live only 20 miles from there in Columbus! Great reenactment of the city, love all the details! I get giggles that someone modeled a city so close to where I live! Keep it up!!
This is such a beautiful layout. The modeling, the structures (of course), the trains themselves, even the colors all go together just right. I also like how things are spread out, nothing seems compressed. Looks like it’d be a lot of fun to operate on. Congrats!
Absolutely stunning!!!! Fabulous work and attention to minute details. Probably the best I've ever seen. And the prototype photos really give us a sense of reality and scale uncommon in most layouts. The FATHER has truly blessed your hands. The first town sure has a lot of cops. Have you thought about magnarail? Watching the cars, trucks, and semis moving down the road next to the train would blast this layout into outer space. What are you using to power the oil well pump? You could take a motor and gearbox out of a garage sale toy and it'll run very quiet. GOD bless you brother! And great job. Totally awesome!
Fantastic layout! Really great work on the scratch building, scenery, detailing, track work, etc. This layout is very believable in that it looks like a mirror of the real world. Great, great job!
Outstanding work! I'm really impressed by your adherence to your prototype, as evidenced by your prototype photo comparisons. Extremely well done! I'm planning to sit down and watch all your videos now.
Per! Your layout is amazing!! It’s awesome to see this! I’ve been waiting for a 2018 video. Your layout inspires me! I’m looking forward to seeing that new Walmart backdrop building coming out. Not sure if I’ll have space for it because I don’t know if I will use a backdrop but, it’s still exciting to see your works! What I love about your company is that you actually take it beyond modern era layouts with big business structures that Walthers doesn’t carry. By the way I can’t wait to see the extension. I only wish we saw the Waycross town where the Lowe’s is and where you have the ballast regulator sitting there.
This is teriffic!!! i've waited so long for an update, and here it is :) i love your layout Mr.Laurson, any new TRAINS ON THE LAYOUT-video is welcome! take care and greetings!
Beautiful. I'm working on an O scale layout in my basement. I much prefer layouts that look real to ones cluttered with unrealistic details. This layout is the perfect blend of details and backdrops. Simple but elegant.
Jaw dropping. Just jaw dropping. I got out of model railroading years ago... but, man! If I had a layout, this is what I'd want it to look like. Just bigger :)
Beautiful and well executed. Come by and see the Edwin Olsen Railroad Museum in Clifton. Housed in the old Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe (ATSF predecessor) depot building, now located behind City Hall and across from the volunteer fire department about 2 blocks off the BNSF lines. We have an HO scale DC layout and a new DCC layout inbound in early November, 2019. Always looking for volunteers to help build up the layout.
Summit, all your hard ass work has paid off for sure. You know though, layouts are never finished > all things remain unfinished :>). Keep providing and enhancing all of your wonderful residential and commercial layouts.
This is my most favorite layout of all that I have seen in my years. If only more modern era layouts existed. I use the summit cut N scale structures and love them. I just wish that there were as many available for purchase as there are for HO. I'd have every single one of them.
OH LAST Question! Where did you get the Camera that fits inside the locomotive? Thats the COOLEST thing I have ever seen! I want that! Who developed a camera small enough to fit inside an HO scale locomotive? Thats AMAZING!
Thanks for your nice comments. The camera is not inside, it is a GoPro camera with a window frame in front, look at the very end of this video: ruclips.net/video/GYsKuLZzATo/видео.html. I make the camera stand, you can get it here: www.summit-customcuts.com/camerastand.html
Beautiful layout. Would love to visit it someday. I am currently in the planning stages of massive 3k sq ft layout depicting the NS S line and Murphy branch line out of Asheville NC.
Just an outstanding layout, and one that's not just a spaghetti bowl full of track. My former layout was a shelf that used some of your detailing techniques. I wish I could have achieved the level of perfection you did. Als, I dismantled it after my divorce and all I have now is pictures.
I'm in the planning stages of an N scale pike, and my goal is to try to produce the quality and natural flow of model building as seen in the Summit. Kudos!
I'm not sure I'd really call that "street running" - the tracks do bisect the street, but actual street running puts the rails at street level, where automobile traffic can actually drive on them. Some of the side lights on the crossing signals would be a great touch on the layout!
This has got to be the best layout in terms of the natural incorporation of streets, curbs and sidewalks I have ever seen on RUclips. Do you play a civil engineer or landscape architect in the real world? Super job!
Somebody please explain to me how anyone gave this a thumbs down. This is one of the finest layouts ever built and one we all wish we could duplicate in quality and detail. Larsen is a MASTER
I was wondering the same thing, Aaron.
The thumbs down are likely non talented individuals who can't do anything like this.

I agree.. You must have a big home, or extra place which allows you to build such amazing setup
The level of detail and craftsmanship on your layout is simply amazing, thank you for sharing your talents and this gem for others to see.
Absolutely beautiful. My dream layout....
This layout and camerawork are breathtaking!! This is INCREDIBLE!! That courthouse blew me away.

The more I look at this the more it looks perfect down to every detail. A true work of art masterpiece !
I had to show this video to my wife. This is the best that i have seen. Very realistic. Extremely motivational. Thanks for sharing.

Outstanding creativity!

Absolute masterful in every way. Particularly liked the streets as they fade into the backdrops. Patience and detail paid off nicely.
I've never seen such a realistic, incredibly built layout! Excellent job!
Wow!!! Brilliant scenery. Mind boggling realism. Thanks for posting!

The trinity river crossing is a place I went with my friends to go fishing. It was nice to see a model of it.
Words can never describe just how brilliant this layout is, You sir are a genius.
Reminds me of the trip I took on the Texas Eagle a few years ago.... excellent work my good sir
Fantastic layout! Really great work on the scratch building, scenery, detailing, track work, etc. This layout is very believable in that it looks like a mirror of the real world. Great, great job!
I love your Layout, is the best one I seen on RUclips so for, thank you for the bright colors and detail of the moles my new things God bless you.
Absolutely amazing layout, the pics of the prototype scenes vrs the layout scenes put this layout way over the top. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour video.
Awesome workmanship, job well done sir! You have a very keen eye for detail!

Wow truly amazing scenery! Gives me a lot of inspirational ideas for my layout scenery!
Very nice layout and like how you modeled after a number of real place using the photos. Thanks for sharing

Stunning Sir!!
You have a great train layout . The best one I have ever seen
A real gem. Thanks for sharing your masterpiece.
This is truly better than the real thing. Brilliant modeling, Per Laursen!

What a great and amazing set up you have made. Well done and keep it up. Cheers to you from Rob. North Wales United Kingdom. Wow...
Summit, all your hard ass work has paid off for sure. You know though, layouts are never finished > all things remain unfinished :>). Keep providing and enhancing all of your wonderful residential and commercial layouts.
Beautiful! I can actually see the hours of thought to layout. Very creative!
I’ve never seen a layout this beautiful!! I’m blowin away by it
Fine is the understatement of this and last Centuries

I dont freely say these things but your layout is AWESOME. Great work my brother, you have reason to be proud
That is a lovely layout, excellent scenery and a good model of the chosen prototype.
Just watched this again, still an amazingly well done layout
his layout is the coolest thing ever
Your work sir, is simply amazing.
Nice to see layouts based on places near my home that I've been to.

Very nice, but where are the telephone pôles??
Your layout might be the GOAT
Amazing, just absolutely amazing! I like how you showed pictures of the real buildings! Looks almost exactly the same!
Fantastic layout! Fantastic video. Enjoyed it VERY much.
I'm in the planning stages of an N scale pike, and my goal is to try to produce the quality and natural flow of model building as seen in the Summit. Kudos!
Can you do a tutorial on how you do your scenery?
I'm not sure I'd really call that "street running" - the tracks do bisect the street, but actual street running puts the rails at street level, where automobile traffic can actually drive on them.
Some of the side lights on the crossing signals would be a great touch on the layout!

This is a totally awesome layout----GREAT JOB!!!

Beautiful layout. Cheers
This has got to be the best layout in terms of the natural incorporation of streets, curbs and sidewalks I have ever seen on RUclips. Do you play a civil engineer or landscape architect in the real world? Super job!
wonderful video, Outstanding footage and sound,
This is prly the most realistic layout I've ever seen. I hope I can get on this level one day.
