Television was all about the “call and response”. With the main vocal calling and the backing vocals responding AND with the two guitars responding to each other, or responding to the vocal. Brilliant stuff.
Love the reaction to this post-punk classic! Leaves Turn Inside You - Unwound will most likely amaze you, their peak was their last ever album before the departure. Would love a reaction on the album.
Might be one of the most eerie and fascinating albums I've listened to aesthetically and musically. Still havent found anything that sounds quite like it to this day. That fact it was recorded in a makeshift studio in the basement of a haunted farmhouse is very fitting.
An all-time album. The slightly mellower follow-up Adventure is also great. Main singer/songwriter Tom Verlaine shares lead guitar duties with Richard Lloyd, by the way - they each play both solos and rhythm parts.
Another great reaction. An incredible album, band and frontman in Tom Verlaine - David Bowie admitted to being a big fan of his. If you haven’t already, I’d recommend you listen to Bowie’s ‘Berlin Trilogy’: Low, Heroes and Lodger. 3 incredible albums made with Brian Eno from the late 70s. I think you’d really dig them. Keep up the great work :)
Hey bro, great album to listen to. One of my favorites ever. Had to grow on me a bit (though i did enjoy a lot it when i first heard). I definitely came to appreciate this album more and more once i heard what punk sounded like around this time and what the post-punk movement sounded like in the 90's/2000's, especially after listening to The Strokes. These guys were so ahead of the curve. RIP to Tom Verlaine (the lead singer) Congrats on season/phase 3 (i guess thats what we're calling it lol) and on the way to 4K subs!! Keep it up my man.
I like to say Television is what would happen if Dire Straights were an NYC punk band. You need to check out their second and final album with this line up, Adventure from 1978, but the remastered expanded version with a 9 minute instrumental jom version of one of the songs that ends when the tape ran out. Best thing on there. Venus de Milo is a famous statue of a woman with no arms. "I fell into the arms, Venus de Milo." There is a song on here where singer co-lead guitarist uses a switchblade knife as a slide. Somehow the drummer ended up in the band, The Waitresses, noted fir the song "Christmas Rapping."
One of the greatest albums ever. If it wasnt for my folks influential record collection i dont know if i would have discovered them. From Television to Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers i loved the whole NYC CBGB's and Max Kansas City scene.
Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem would be an AMAZING album to listen to based on the streak youre on! Also any Bon Iver albums, and Give Up by The Postal Service.
Brooo, Pink Moon, Disintegration, and now Marquee Moon! These are the albums that you’ll be able to come back to decade after decade after all the current trendy stuff fades away into history’s waste bin. Source: trust me bro, I’m old.
Also for more “twin” guitar work I’d recommend Sleater-Kinney. Dig Me Out or The Woods might be considered their best but I feel like the guitar work on The Hot Rock is very Television inspired The Hot Rock might be my favorite breakup album too
Love this album so much, and Tom Verlaine is a guitar god I would recommend listening to Paris 1919 by John Cale. Cale was one of the founding members of the velvet underground, and has lots of great solo stuff. Paris 1919 is widely considered his best, and is one of my favorites ever
Dude, love your reaction. But really, don't know what the Venus Di Milo is? One of the most famous sculptures in the world, depicting the Greek goddess of love. And;, most famously...the statue is missing both arms, which is the image Tom is playing with in his lyrics.
At this point “Consistent” is your middle name with these album picks I recommend for a future reaction: Deceit by This Heat, another quite WACKY! post-punk album
Hey, awesome video, one of my favourite albums of all time, cool to see you enjoying it. Hope you don't get burnt with these uploads. Here are some others, I think are cool, if you are not overloaded yet. Daft Punk - Discovery Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas Antlers - Hospice Arcade Fire - Funeral Daniel Johnston - 1990 LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver Modest Mouse - The Moon & Antarctica Panchiko - D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L Sun Kil Moon - Benji Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One Porter Robinson - Nurture
Omg, you kinda read my mind with your Sound of Silver and The Moon & Antarctica recommendations! I wanted to propose them as well. Also a reaction to Nirvana's Nevermind would be awesome. Yes, everyone knows Nirvana and this album but it's very likely that Smags hasn't heard it besides Smells like Teen Spirit. Also it's just such a classic, every indie music and rock music lover should be familiar with it Also I'm fully on board with your Discovery and Heaven or Las Vegas recommendations but Smags has said many times that he already knows HoLV, unfortunately... Still, Treasure is another amazing album from them that would make for a good reaction video
Completely different from this but Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan is an album that I think would be an interesting change of pace, just an album of amazing folk rock songs with beautiful song writing if you haven’t listened to it
Great album choices. Here's a few you should check out for reactions: A Salty Dog by Procol Harum Argus by Wishbone Ash Presence by Led Zeppelin The Violent Femmes 1st Album A Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd
you might wanna check out breasts' self titled album. it's a slowcore album, kinda like duster's stuff, but there's a lot of interesting guitar playing and atmosphere that I think you'd like.
This is cool bro, if you like the more Post punk / indie rock scene, I really reccomend The Brave Little Abacus’ ‘Just Got Back From The Discomfort-We’re alright.’ It’s on RUclips with the 9 year upload cuz the one on streaming isn’t that great
bro has branched out from music to review television 🔥🔥🔥
lol
THIS ALBUM IS SO GOOD THE TITLE SONG IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING 10/10 THANK YOU KING FOR LISTENING TO THIS
You’re welcome!
Probably top 5 album of all time
Television was all about the “call and response”. With the main vocal calling and the backing vocals responding AND with the two guitars responding to each other, or responding to the vocal. Brilliant stuff.
one of the best albums of all time
another record which has a touch of post and dance punk elements you'd definitely love is 'This is Happening' by LCD Soundsystem
Great album!
I just discovered this record in the past few weeks and it’s phenomenal
the greatest album ever by the greatest band ever
Idk if you're the one who mentioned it previously on one of his videos, but I'm here (maybe again) to second this suggestion!!
Great suggestion! I'd also love to see him react to Repetition - just as amazing as LTIY in my opinion.
An all-time album. The slightly mellower follow-up Adventure is also great. Main singer/songwriter Tom Verlaine shares lead guitar duties with Richard Lloyd, by the way - they each play both solos and rhythm parts.

Horses by Patti Smith is a must now considering she also came from the CBGB scene along with talking heads

The tune 'Marquee Moon' is an all-time banger.

One of the greatest albums ever. If it wasnt for my folks influential record collection i dont know if i would have discovered them. From Television to Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers i loved the whole NYC CBGB's and Max Kansas City scene.
Omg litterly one of my favorites, You need to check out Bark psychosis's hex too, banger album, Super ethereal :)
love this album, I've listened to the title track so many times by now its so good
The Venus De Milo is a statue with no arms, hence non reciprocal of the hug.
OHHHHHHH
Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem would be an AMAZING album to listen to based on the streak youre on! Also any Bon Iver albums, and Give Up by The Postal Service.

You're in grade school and you know and like Television? 🤔
Your next album needs to be Suicide by Suicide. You’ll love it.
Venus De Milo is the famous statue of the woman with the arms missing. That's the joke
He was so real for picking up the grain of rice that fell on his shirt and eating it
Wire - Pink Flag is a must
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Any of the first three Wire albums are essential. Chairs Missing is my personal favourite but Pink Flag and 154 are both great too.
Also, their other albums are not bad by any means but at least in my opinion this was by far the best one
Horses by Pattie Smith since you did this
Yes! Nice companion piece to this.
Brooo, Pink Moon, Disintegration, and now Marquee Moon! These are the albums that you’ll be able to come back to decade after decade after all the current trendy stuff fades away into history’s waste bin. Source: trust me bro, I’m old.
Road to 4k!!! You absolutely deserve it as well
Thank U!
Quebec by ween Quebec ween do ween Quebec album
Also for more “twin” guitar work I’d recommend Sleater-Kinney. Dig Me Out or The Woods might be considered their best but I feel like the guitar work on The Hot Rock is very Television inspired
The Hot Rock might be my favorite breakup album too
Love this album so much, and Tom Verlaine is a guitar god
I would recommend listening to Paris 1919 by John Cale. Cale was one of the founding members of the velvet underground, and has lots of great solo stuff. Paris 1919 is widely considered his best, and is one of my favorites ever
the title track on this song blows me away every time. definately a top 10 all time song for me
Ooo! A great album 👍 As always, a good reaction and thoughtful listen dude.
Dude, love your reaction. But really, don't know what the Venus Di Milo is? One of the most famous sculptures in the world, depicting the Greek goddess of love. And;, most famously...the statue is missing both arms, which is the image Tom is playing with in his lyrics.

Television are an awesome band! I'd suggest Crossing The Red Sea by The Adverts. British punk band. Great album 🤟
