PA I love um, got loads. Started with one the rest are cuttings. They love food and water. You can turn them into any shape you want, and the great news is they don't take forever to grow like bonsai trees. The traditionalists don't like them. Good luck.
Mine sat and did nothing for months after severe root pruning. PA love to grow bar branches...trimming and ramification is the key....osmicoate fertilizer is awesome...they hate being wet..
@BonsaiBoise during the winter, mine are in the basement under LED lighting with the temperature around 60F. They get watered once a month. I move them outside in the summer under full sun..they watered weekly. I'm told that you can't over fertilize them.. Mine get light dose of osmicoate in the winter and heavy doses in the summer..
PAs are very nice but they don't get along with my care yet and they struggle lol. One of them are 3 years now and think it finally show some vitality. Live in Sweden and not until this winter I put it under growlight and think it could be one major factor for improvement.. light! Am very moderate on watering so they never soaked or had rotten roots so it not that I think. Anyway good luck on these :)
Thank you! I have these in 2 different places at my house, (west facing window and east facing window), and I'm going to try some cuttings in the grow tent and see how they do in there. But so far they're all still alive and kicking.
In the growing season, maybe every day if it's dry where you are maybe every couple of days, but they need to dry out big time.In the winter, maybe once a week could be too much. Those are nice trees. They will tell you with their leaves when they need water. You'll be fine with them.
all the way from South Africa, they like dry feet, great for indoor or outdoor bonsai,, the less water you give them the leaves stay smaller,, really strong plants
I have a bad habit of killing succulents. So far these are not doing well. I'm not sure to even do with them. More water? Less water? I let them get super dry before watering them but they don't seem to be liking that.
@BonsaiBoise not super dry but dry, I give mine water with all my other cuttings and plants only problem is the leaves get a bit larger,,the do like full sun,, if you want to do sum research we call them spek boom, boom is Afrikaans for tree
PA is one of my favorites! They're super fun to work with and grow like weeds. Fast growth! They're also pretty forgiving.
All the right traits for me!

Thanks! I usually kind of suck with succulents. But, maybe this is the one that turns the tide.

How often do you water them?

So with succulents, if it's hot and bright water it, but if it's cold and dark, I don't water. If I'm skeptical at all I don't.
Good to know!

Yes let any cutting callous over. Don't overwater!
I've found that when the tree REALLY needs water, the leaves start to shrivel.
Roughly once a week? Once a month?
