Personally I really in love for RF01PRO. I am playing with it since 2 weeks, and coming from PS97S and PS97 315gr, I find this one super fantastic. Free power, easier to move, super precise and great control. Of course need clean technique and to be physically prepared, but even if demanding it'll give back a lot.
Excellent review - I demoed this, freshly strung with ALU Power, and absolutely agree with your views on this racquet. I consider myself to be a pretty good player, but could not gel with this even though it is a fun and unique feeling racquet.
RF01 300 customised with lead is much better to use. Flexier and allows better weight customisation / racquet speed / spin etc as you can whip the racquet through contact alot more easily. RF01 320 is stiffer and just harder to customise and get right with that 320g stock weight.
I have the 01 Pro at my spec 370g static 7 pts H/L , I love it, demanding but magical. I have 26 customized racquets, but i can't put this one down🙏 As someone who added weight to the RF 97A, I am not your average player.97kg 183cm.
Great to see a review by players who can actually play well. Most reviews, with all due respect, are done by amateur players. I have always played with the Pro Staff series from Sampras and Federer, up to the RF97A. Used to play national and high regional level, but since I'm well in my fourties now and I'm just less fast and fit than in my twenties, it was time for a more forgiving racket. Demo'd the RF01 Pro and the Blade 98, to my surprise Iiked the Blade much more. The blade is much softer and easier to play with compared to the RF97A, the RF01 pro is quite different from both. It feels stiff but less stable than the RF97A, although it"s easier to manouvre due to the drop in weight.
Hard to play in which way? A comparison would be helpful. Like pro staff 85 had small sweet spot, and many pros liked it and many enthusiasts found it too hard to play.
As far as the non-pro version of the RF01 goes, I wonder how it compares to the Pro Staff v14 X, considering they both have the same goal of being easier to use and more forgiving for recreational players, while still playing like a pro staff racquet. The specs are noticeably different, but I wonder how that translates to performance on the court.
Hi, one thing I would have loved to hear from the review is whether and how it is perceived the design switch from the traditional box-beam structure of the ProStaff line (incl. RF97A of course). I see these RF01 models with a more rounded section, which is something has always kept myself away from a racquet. RF01's peculiar throat shape would deserve a dissertation IMHO. How is this new key feature perceived on a Pro vs RF97A's box-beam?
I did not like this racket after using the V9 Blade , but tried it again a few days ago and loved it. Was going to use it as a RESET racket for my swing when swinging fast to slow down but all off a sudden started playing well and loved the extra power.
I choose the RF Future 280gr. Strung it with RS New York and polytour air at 40lb. That fits to my game, higher launch angle, more free power, but still a lot of control cause the denser string pattern. I think over time, I can customize the weight little by little to match my blade 98s 295gr. RF Future in stock form plays very well
the same :) I play blade 98s with RPM Blast. I choose RF Future and tested today. I cannot play heavier raquets because I had arm surgery and need protect it. RF Future is very friendly not too stiff and stable during hits the ball. One thing is worse - my backhand is slower i weaker then with blade. One thing more - RF Future is crispy and I dont like it this feeling
One question: how does the handle shape feel compared to RF97A's? I have always found all the ProStaff pallet shape just perfect to me, but for whatever reason Wilson only deploys it on this product line. The Blade handle, for instance, is very good, but still definitely not the same. Does RF01 Pro share the same handle pallet of RF97A?
Just do it. I don't have an official UTR rating, but I play against a few people that do and I regularly beat a 4.5 player with this racquet. You just get used to the racquet. I promise you won't regret it and I can honestly say that the racquet has improved my game. I come from playing with a lot of the pro staff 90 racquets (I know, Fed fan), and then switched to the Pro Staff RF97 V13. Transitioning from the RF97 V13 to the RF Pro 01 isn't difficult. I just had to add a little bit of weight to the 3 and 9 o clock (total of 10 grams) because of the lighter weight of the RF 01 Pro, my timing was off since I was swinging too fast. In comparison between the RF97 V13 and the RF Pro 01, they hit very similar but I do believe that the RF Pro 01 is more rewarding. It still offers good spin but definitely more control and there even is a slight power bump.
I just switched to the RF01 pro and I LOVE it, the only fuss I have with it is that the matte black paint job chips really easily, anyone else having that issue as well?
The RF97A though it is much heavier it's still easier to whip since its like 12pts headlight unstrung(or 10 ..anyway super light on the head). The new one has more neutral balance if not mistaken which might prove a bit more challenging to have the final whip.
@@Bikerbeest When I played with the RF97A I was kinda shocked to see the lack in power due to the headlight balance(12pts HL). It is heavy and a tad hard to swing but the trade-off, for me as a baseliner, should be lots of power. Instead it's heavy and stable and suits more of an offensive player who relies more on service, volleys , helps a lot with the 1Handed back-hand for the final whip etc. I played for years whith Head Radical Extreme at 346g unstrung with only 6pts headlight so kinda similar specs except of balance.
