yea that's right too. But only if you want a sword for chopping things later on. If you just use a blunt one, stainless doesn't matter much. In fact, the 440 stainless from dragonwell can bend 90 degree and bounce back to normal shape too, not bad at all.
Depends if you use it or not. Normally if you buy a sword and you train everyday like me, you don't even have to clean it much. From time to time, just oil the wooden parts with linseed oil and let it dry by wind, use some silicone spray or something to wipe your blade and wipe clean, that will keep your sword rust-free and good condition all the time already. Not hard at all.
the chiense swords can be very sharp too, depends who sharpen and make it. If you buy cheap swords, of course they are not sharp. If you buy high quality swords, they beat katana for sure too, if you pay the price for it.
440 stainless is 440, there is no such thing as 440 carbon stainless steel though. 440 depends which grade and how the blade is forged or made. The AUS-8 that Cold steel use is equal to the 440 stuff too but then it is tempered and quenched which means it is harden for use. normal 440 stainless steel blades that swords use are not harden to the point you can sharpen for battle though. careful. If you want a battle ready one, buy one that say so.
I just ordered a damascus steel katana from a place called sanchi tang ! They look like they jabe really nice swords and they say thay they battle ready . I paid 185 dollars . have you heard anything about sanchi tang swords ?
Could you by chance tell me where I could find the sword at 6:14 I would appreciate it. I believe you called it a mega sword in another video and according to your video this is right in my price range and desired taste. Thank you :)
I have all 3 Chinese swords and MANY blades from cold steel, they are top notch and you can't go wrong with them. Check my latest videos out or search on youtube with cold steel GIM, Battle GIm, Jade Lion sword, etc,. I have all their weapons in Chinese weapon series except the war sword cuz I don't like it. I did reviews and demos of them already, they are amazing good.
I disagree with the term "junks". Because, not every sword is to be a deadly weapon. Just like a sword can be so that it is beautiful, a sword can ALSO be so that it is ok for a person to handle it for fun, but still safely. A lightweight sword is ok in the house, because if you accidently bonk the fridge door, it does not get a big hole. If children want to play with it, it is dangerous, but you can tell them to be careful and it will be ok for them to experience it. A powerful cutting sword is almost never ok to allow a child to touch, and a heavy hitting sword will easily bonk everything and damage it, so you can't just relax and play with it.
that "cheap sword" actually costs less. like $40 to be exact. Im guessing you bought the high quality sword at an actual shop? uprfront, the high quality sword costs $80. im guessing you bought the cheap sword at kungfudirect. maybe with all of the shipping and handling and all that stuff it costs $80. and besides the cheap swords are good to practice with.
@TheSuperDc it's okay, as long as you choose the right sword to buy. haha~ you contact me by e-mail if you want and I can help you out. celestialmastermak AT chiinnature DAT com

Have you ever heard of the company Cold Steel? If not look them up. Do you think they have good quality swords?
nope, those are often stainless 420 or 440 steel
For taijiquan straight sword, should I just go with what my coach recommends?
Mark2xs why are you calling it a taiji sword it’s just a jian or straight sword there’s more then one way to use this sword
Stainless steal tends to bend and break if you want a good sword you should go with carbon steel.
they are okay swords, depend on how you use it and what it is for. General purpose, okay.
