Yea I was so confused, like clearly from all creators, this was the most comprehensive overall competent player loaded class overview, from a leader of a world first guild. People were not just "thirsty for tier lists" lmao.
I think you guys don’t understand to what degree borrowed power systems make expansions wholly inaccessible for casuals who play 2-3 hours a week Borrowed power needs to go away and never come back
Exactly. After the season passes 3 months people want to raid log. I've seen so many people quit the game because of overzealous raid leaders that can't allow people to not play the game all the time, and borrowed power causes the same thing.
@@karlzone2 but.. what raid leader "force" people to farm crap 3 months in? Filling your vault with M+ weeklies for the first 5-6 week sure... there's no more AP grind, dailies are pretty much useless, you don't have to PVP... so what burrowed power are you referring to? Even in BFA, 3X island at 4 min each and you are done for the week.
As someone who came back to wow at the end of DF season 3, I appreciated S4 so that I could see all of the content I missed after quitting during SL S1
14:00 That 4 hour tier list was so damn good! It was the decision to have a bunch of different people to talk the classes/specs/hero talents. Yes, inject that into my veins 💯💯
the issue with borrowed power is that the devs would have a really good idea, the community would speculate on how cool it could be, then blizzard would implement it in almost the laziest and most uninspired way possible, release it to beta, we would tell them it was boring and awful and all the things we dont like about it and then they would spend the entire expansion "fixing" it, get it to a pretty ok spot even if it looks like frankenstein and then they would throw it all away to rinse and repeat again the following expansion. the issue isnt borrowed power sucks, its that blizzard sucks at taking feed back and generally dont have the time to make it interesting because of their release cycle
If you're going to go back to a borrowed power system they 100% need to make it something that is account wide or near account wide with their new philosophy of embracing alts.
As someone who hates committing so much time to raiding every week. Season 4s have been my favourite due to the gearing. The way you gear in s4 should just be a part of the game, but I understand why raiders don't enjoy not getting a new raid. (I do M+)
I think season 4 absolutely replaced a season in dragonflight, we know it didn’t in shadowlands and it was basically a passion project by a couple of devs, but blizzard saw how much resources they can save by spamming them every expansion and it will make the game worse if it continues
There's no way Vyranoth's face turn was intended to happen in the space of a cutscene. Also, every single Dragonflight EXCEPT for the Red got a big story treatment. Until Holly Longdale herself tells me otherwise, I will always believe that Blizzard cut a season from Dragonflight and gave us the S4 treatment that did the job in Shadowlands instead.
I am super down for randomized dungeons. But I don't know if mythic+ is the place to do it. Its a speedrun game mode. But like give me a vanilla wow sized dungeon, randomized mobs and rooms, and you just explore the place and get loot and shit
Why not both ? They could bring back m0 to old +5 and put a system like that in this mode and have a seperate ladder, they already have a m+ seasonal ladder, not that hard
The only thing that's bad with borrowed power being the aquisition is a weird take. There were huge problems, especially after Legion, with classes feeling incomplete after losing the previous systems. This can even be seen with set bonuses sometimes.
Imagine wanting AP back, not being able to play more than 1 spec because all your AP went into your main spec :))))) genuinely disgusted that someone can think that system was good
I don't think there's really a good option that include not having a new raid each 5-7 months. They can compromise by making smaller raids, adding new 1-2 new dungeons but they might as well give up and just do remix/plunderstorm kind of content or simply release smaller warcraft games with their new AA team.
Soloq m+ would be epic but they have to make the dungeons easier and less demanding of certain classes since it's gonna be random. But grouped would obviously still need to exist. Same as arena.
You people just don't get it. All the solutions you keep trying to find to mix up the dungeon pool are to suit you, the people that play 24/7. Most normal people don't play that often. Hell, my group can only get together on Saturday mornings to run keys, so if you change dungeons weekly, or even layouts, we're just fucked. We have no way to learn anything or practice, and would be better off not playing at that point. Normally I'd end with a quip like "at least I have diablo to fall back on" but now Blizzard has gone and fucked that game and made it require friends, I can't even play that on my own. Please stop trying to fuck the game for ordinary players.
S4 has killed my raid team 100% of the time. No one cares about S4 progression, so the entire thing just falls apart when you're being asked to take a 4 month long vacation.
Mob randomizer is terrible for non coordinated groups. At least by end of the season like 1/3 of Puggers know the route and key kicks. Randomizing would cripple that. In addition, its making tanking harder. We are already short on tanks and healers. Until blizz gets it through their head that the only solution is find a way to make it more difficult for DPS without punishing the tanks and healers, you'll have a wild imbalance. Know one wants to talk about it, but tanking and healing is exponentially more responsibility in M+ than DPS. So, the masses will flock to DPS.
People with autism like to do the same thing repeatedly. I'm pretty sure many if not most of us high M+ pushers are on the spectrum, and I'd wager many top-tier healers also dip in the powers of ADHD.
What's missing from the "why is S4 bad" conversation, is that we pay a sub. Active paying customers deserve new content or material...actively. WoW players (overall blizz gamers) are too conditioned to have their wallets taken advantage of. This is something often overlooked by well off content creators.
I'm of the opinion that S4 actively lowered the quality of Dragonflight. Don't invalidate all the progression that is still going on. They took the best tier of the expansion and shat on it after 5 months.
The biggest problem Blizzard had with making good and enjoyed borrowed power is their adamant refusal to iterate on something. Every single time it was a new borrowed power system totally different from the previous system. They should just be keeping the system the same, resetting it so its new and fresh, so BFA maybe instead of artifact weapons could have been the amulet, but a tree like the artifact weapon, and then implement changes targeting the previous systems pain points. If they keep throwing the baby out with the bathwater they will never get to a fully matured system.
Warband garrison better be a feature soon with all your characters walking around the base on your favorite mounts... we have asked for housing long enough
M+ soloqueue would be an incredible addition It will make lives of off-meta players 1000 times better. Imagine feral not needing to be accepted but actually just playing the game. Imagine just pressing one button to queue up and farming resources or alt-tabbing instead of continuously re-applying for 20 minutes Dude the game would be at the peak of all peaks ever for me (even though as a healer i don't suffer from that particular problem as much).
What got me into the game after a few years, was getting rid of burrowed powers and i am a 0.1 m+ player. You guys are beyond out of touch on this one.
As someone who plays arena at a reasonable level but also does a load of keys for portals etc - solo queue would work for keys So in arena it has deflated actual 3v3 making it hard to push glad, but this is a specifically a problem in a game mode you’re playing against other people, like if you got 4 buddies to do a key you can still do the key and it won’t impact your score
I get KSM on my tank then do some here and there for fun. As a tank, and for healers, I basically have free rein on what I sign up for and what I do. I’d never utilize an M+ queue. I think it could work for lower keys (new players) but outside of that I think people would migrate over to the manual LFG.
Seasonal borrowed power is okay. Expansional borrowed power is a big no no. Things come up in life. Feeling like you’re behind bc something comes up in a two year period makes the game feel unplayable. Also blizz is awful at borrowed power - I don’t trust them to make a good one. There’s still so many talents no one takes. Just fix that before moving on.. it’s criminal as is.
Tanks (and to a lesser degree healers) still have to do 90% of the work in the dungeon. At that point they might as well just make a group on their own and invite people they think can actually contribute. Random queue M+ would just be a cesspool of the people who are not being invited into premade groups.
What if instead of rotating dungeons every season we just start adding 4 dungeons per season to the pool and we never reset score and keys aren't random. You can just play the key you like, if you want chill old key for weekly u do that if you want to learn and push new key you do that. Don't even know if I'm behind the take, nice a thought 😊
I love Season 4 but for non-playing reasons. My Guild usually gets halfway through Mythic before start to hit soft walls, people get a bit burnt out and we take abreak until next season. So we usually make sure to do the S4 HC raids for the achievements but after that it's down to whatever people want to do. Sometimes people bail for 2-3 months, sometimes we just end up playing some other games together (we did Dead by Daylight and Among Us for a few weeks between SL and DF). But myself I use the downtime to catch up with achievements and level some alts or just chilling in other games or doing Real Life stuffs (like workout). However there is one part I do love about Season 4 and that's the transmog catchup. I've been fiedning for Bullion to buy all the weapon transmogs and I would love for there to be a vendor where I can buy full raid gear transmogs as well. In Shadowlands I ended up leveling a bunch of long forgotten alts just so I could use their three Dinars to buy transmogs. I personally don't really care about pushing M+ rating or going for Mythic kills in S4, but I would hate for them to remove the ability to catch up on transmogs. I've been going into LFR on a bunch of alts to get the Bullion so I can unlock everything.
S4 has killed my raid team 100% of the time. No one cares about S4 progression, so the entire thing just falls apart when you're being asked to take a 4 month long vacation.
Max tier list was dope with calling people. Max right, mythic + boring, randomized would be better. But I might still not spam them. Love the poddy c, gj boys
I think an account wide borrowed power system would be a good idea. I think a bfa artifact style on a relic slot would work. And they should just reset it every expansion instead of recooking a new one each time.
Totally agree with Max re: "0 out of 10 borrowed power systems started out good." I think that's where a lot of the animosity comes from. I don't care if a cool idea feels good finally at the end of what has become more and more of seasonal game, it has to be good on the jump. There are a lot of fun games out there these days, I'm not no lifeing wow anymore when they release a system that just flat out sucks to even engage with.
Nerfing the 2/3 best healers right before season 4 was terrible. I hated it. If they can't do balances, I want a 3 month season at most and all the raids should be open. Let me be a tourist as the game ends.
Just make player power be 50-50 split between item progression and some sort of borrowed power. I believe most people would do whatever it takes for the borrowed power and also enjoy it as long as they would have to do it once/major patch/account. So we would have warband borrowed power power that I could grind on all my characters. Maybe today I’m feeling like doing “islands on my hunter”, tomorrow I would be doing pvp on my rogue and in the afternoon I would be doing some keys in my tank
I would be all on board for random packs as a healer main if there was something that increased mana regien by a substantial amount. My least favorite thing about healing is punishing me for doing more healing and making me go oom. A caster dps can push their buttons as fast as they can and top the dps tracker and might go to 90% mana. Meanwhile when a group misses kicks and I have to triage the party I might be oom within 2m.
I know its tinfoil, but I think the borrowed power systems being 'bad' on launch was intentional. WoW is so amazingly successful I just can't believe it's designers would create something initially bad so many times.
Well... that's entire thing, they would need to cook INSANELY good, and its almost impossible...I mean look at fucking league, they are cooking matchmaking for like billion years and its the most broken and the most toxic expierience ever
They would need to remove raid buffs and give more classes a lust or brez for it to possibly work. Would suck if you join a group without a brez or lust.
M+ weekly route change is bad. Imagine if you have a no rothexer or no hunter route that’s possible one week versus not possible another. Could literally be a +\- 1 key level for season title holders. Maybe in the sub 12 range.
Ok I have no issues with tier lists in the right context (of course with them being the one true objective list). But to be fair with your list specifically I care a lot less about the actual tier list and more about hearing the best people from each spec talk about the pros and cons to people that don’t know their class as much. Most other tier lists are from generalist content creators and you can often tell when they’re trying to talk about a class they have no idea about.
This episode was a horror show. No to all borrowed power, thanks. Nothing is worse than the feeling that you have to log in to wow to do mind numbing s*** so you can keep doing what you find fun. Utter trash. The moment that returns i am done with WoW. Legion broke me. It made me stop caring about the game cause the game was playing me, not me the game. Season 4 was fine in shadowlands cause it had it's exclusive affixes that changed the gameplay in m+ and raid. Dragonflight season 4 was just a repeat of the first seasons.
Solo Shuffle can work, because of the shuffle part. If you had just random 3v3 skirmishes it'd be an awful experience when you get a comp that cannot get anything done. With shuffle, at least you will play against it as well, so it balances out (at least a bit). It would require a lot of work on the required utility or coordination. Soooo... rated soloq delves when?
they design dungeons often times that just suck for melee. they could remove caster buffs outright and a lot of the times people would still play ranged cause the mechs favor them.
Season 4 was dope man we had M+, 3 raids to rotate per week and boulions...stress free farming and gearing...each season they should scale up previous raids so they are relevant gear...farming 1 raid for a season is boring
I'd love to see 18-month expansions with three 6-month seasons, where the last two months of each season has (1) something else, such as PlunderStorm, WoD remix, etc; and (2) all prior raids in the current expansion "Awakened".
That would be awful. Imagine getting to Season 3 and now you have people wanting to do the same raids because they Uber BiS trinket exists. Or a weapon. Or whatever it is. Bleh. Leave that to rehash seasons, not progression seasons.
Dont you think that it takes to much for Blizz to fix or balance things? Like we can have one spec much above all for few months before they nerf it or its new patch and noone cares and we have some spec that lack dmg or healing or suravavilibity and they are left there for weeks when fixing this is easy like adding some numbers in 1 or 2 abilities? I think other devs react faster if something is broken.
crazy slow considering how much money they make from this game. they can just coast by because they have the market cornered and the player-base mostly just sticks around regardless. if wow had more competition you'd see stuff happening faster. an example of this is their approach to dragonflight when they lost a chunk of players during shadowlands. if players didn't jump ship to ff etc. we would have had torghast 2.0 in df for sure.
solo queue m+ would also incentivize the balancing of dungeon mechanics to be less punishing for classes that don't have specific utility. (curse dispels etc)
I coudlnt possibly agree more with the game needed "borrowed power" systems. I feel almost no drive to play TWW at all tbh. I just feel like Im playing Dragonflight but fighting new mobs in a new zone.
I'm with max, I think a mode with some surprises and new problems to solve each week would be interesting. Definitely seems like they could experiment with it. I also think solo m+ queue will add some surprises. Not all good, but a lot of the reason why people keep queuing up to those team queue games is not knowing what's going to happen next.
I think m0 to rdf would do good. The highest level of finder dungeons should help prep the player for key content and to learn, normals and heroics are garbage 99% of mechanics you will not even see or do nothing to you, this is pretty much still the case in tww heroics. or just leaving mythic alone and tweaking max level normals and heroics to be more meaningful
ehhh...honestly, take away the armor azerite traits and bfa borrowed power wasn't awful. In particular essences - corruption was decent but way prefer essences
maybe solo que m+ to a certain point. like high level champion gear etc. but i dont think theyll ever make high end content m+. it would be super difficult imo.
All these borrowed power systems were just worse than Artifact Weapons. Huge chunks of the playerbase still look back in confusion at how Blizzard scuffed all the subsequent ones. Plus, the corporate incentives mean they CANNOT do borrowed power without making acquisition horrific for the initial release. You will become Rich’s apocryphal “rat in a box” to juice some activity metrics. I wish it weren’t so. But we got 6 years of that stuff for a reason.
Max - it's not tier lists, it's you talking about classes and calling up people talking about classes. That's what we want.
Word. Could not give a shit about that periodic system of the elements ass monstrosity they ended up with as a tier list, but it was a fun listen.
There are tier lists about anything and everything Max is right people are horny for tier list content.
Experts or exceptionally good players sharing knowledge and their experience and hints for how to be a better player is invaluable.
No it's not, I paid $3500 so my friends and I could see Maximum's ranking of specs for week 1 TWW because he's the coolest 🙂

Solo q m+ sounds horrific for anything above an 8. If they took out premades completely the m+ scene would disappear.

I think we have the perfect amount of borrowed power right now, with tier sets. Lets keep it at that
I know its tinfoil, but I think the borrowed power systems being 'bad' on launch was intentional. WoW is so amazingly successful I just can't believe it's designers would create something initially bad so many times.
You lied to us? 🤨🤨

Nice pod. I like Friday uploads
The next cook is mythic plus raids. And bring back an old raid as a second raid mythic plus option every season.
50:54 "Why not do corruption in S4?" Pretty much just due to dev time, I think
Solo Q Mythic+, if they cook it right would be S tier. Group forming is 100% the worst part about Mythic+
Well... that's entire thing, they would need to cook INSANELY good, and its almost impossible...I mean look at fucking league, they are cooking matchmaking for like billion years and its the most broken and the most toxic expierience ever
Lmao yeah right. No one good will use it. Good way to funnel all the bads out of my key groups though thanks
@@nickv3085nah all u have to do is seperate soloq io and groupfinder io and people will play it
They would need to remove raid buffs and give more classes a lust or brez for it to possibly work.
Most other tier lists are from generalist content creators and you can often tell when they’re trying to talk about a class they have no idea about.
damn i love hearing about the dude who my fiance cheated on me with, 10/10 dorki thanks for bringing up tyty (and allly)
Awwww muffin
Amen brother, anything that forces you to log in is the absolute worst.
A game should make you want to log in, not make you feel bad if you don't.
Then be done with it. You and your 15 a month won’t be missed. We enjoy ap farming and you are the minority.
@@CharlieVictor212 Lmao you have to be completely fucking delusional if you think the majority enjoys AP farming.
borrowed power has nothing to do with doing dailies and infinite grind, essence and corruption had none of that
Solo Shuffle can work, because of the shuffle part.
Yall vibe real good man the triple chads
I'd love to see 18-month expansions with three 6-month seasons, where the last two months of each season has (1) something else, such as PlunderStorm, WoD remix, etc; and (2) all prior raids in the current expansion "Awakened".
That would be awful. Imagine getting to Season 3 and now you have people wanting to do the same raids because they Uber BiS trinket exists. Or a weapon. Or whatever it is. Bleh. Leave that to rehash seasons, not progression seasons.
Eat the rich, amen
S4 is great idea, but they were extremely lazy in DF S4. It has to have something fun going on with it
Dont you think that it takes to much for Blizz to fix or balance things?
58:40 Someone clearly didn't pay attention when they said they wanted to stick to evergreen additions.
WHAT IF your group got to vote on two sets of affixes? Like if a physical heavy comp got to choose to avoid incorp and afflicted?
"Is there any rare farming, dirt farming......."
next time just say "what's THD doin right now"
Solo queue M+ would be sweet
all the bad players q up and gather there , 80% of disbands , its proly a bad idea xD
solo queue m+ would also incentivize the balancing of dungeon mechanics to be less punishing for classes that don't have specific utility. (curse dispels etc)
I feel like itd help give blizz class disparity balancing stats that they might ACTUALLY listen to
max has the playoff beard going
Have moving mini bosses. Trash can be the same but just have random mini bosses spawn in different locations. Like the butcher does in d4
What about having weekly dungeon groups as opposed to seasonal dungeons? So every week is 4 of the current xpac, and 4 from previous xpacs.
I coudlnt possibly agree more with the game needed "borrowed power" systems. I feel almost no drive to play TWW at all tbh. I just feel like Im playing Dragonflight but fighting new mobs in a new zone.
fuck season 4s
I have guildies that hate that they tune after release so because they have to change how they play the dungeon, let alone changing the dungeon
35:50 is wild to stress that hard over a game
Solo play wouldnt work, as no guarantee of basic stuff needed ie curse dispels, bl, CR, utility basically anything a class brings and is needed for m+
Player housing for next xpac would rock
😊
I'm with max, I think a mode with some surprises and new problems to solve each week would be interesting. Definitely seems like they could experiment with it. I also think solo m+ queue will add some surprises. Not all good, but a lot of the reason why people keep queuing up to those team queue games is not knowing what's going to happen next.
Yeah agreed add solo queue, the ones against it wont even use it.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the weakaura max has talked about for M+ that helps people know who's kicking what. Thanks!
best implemented borowed power system is tier sets
Dorki's common-man arc is fun to watch develop
Bro Dratnos looking handsome AF
Why are RWF ppl lvling 15 characters? is there some new legion legendary stuff where power is based on rng?
Guys stop pushing for nerfs...we want more fun not less...push for buffs 😅 more raid buffs not less 😅
I think m+ soloq would be the most fun on alts tbh
Dorky at 56:52 complaining about war within not bringing anything new is one of the most insane takes.
I mean I guess hero talents… nothing else is actually new. Just old shit called a new name.
