Marie-Anne Izmajlov (known also as Manca Izmajlova) is a singer of many dimensions.
She studied acting and musical theatre in London and opera singing in Moscow. In her career she has performed all around the world, with more than 1000 appearances and solo concerts. She sings in various genres and in 25 languages.

Manca presents a rich and resonant voice... Liquid gold. Exceedingly disciplined in following score and verbalizing with crisp diction. It's a pleasure to listen... I can only hope to hear her in person someday. Her evident talent is a gift to us all.
I grew up listening to so much Dvorak and Smetana, I liked it from first hearing. This song is amazing, such longing and beauty. He has such great melodies.

Amazing performance, but also Manca has some irresistible charm, impossible to attribute to anything in particular in her lovely appearance. Warmth, sincerity, trust. "Zhenstvennost" that does not require any affirmation or emancipation, just authentic, original beautiful woman.

I have heard many versions of this beautiful lament since I learned it in English as a child, but I think the two most beautiful performances of this song, both in the proper Czech, are by Manca and by Patricia Janečková. 💖

Dvorak wrote this for singer and piano. I would dearly love to hear Manca record this song with just a piano, not an overwrought orchestra. Her beautiful voice, a beautiful piano. Perfect.

For the whole song I thought she can actually speak Czech. Her pronaunciation was perfect. And then she screwed up the one word before the end...

@@BenjaminIzmajlov "Hrát". In Czech, there is a huge difference between pronounciation of "h" sound (as in "honey" for example) and "g" sound (as in "gold")
As far as I know, "grát" is the right pronouniation in other slavic languages, yet not in Czech
I loved this performance the ortration, the conductor seemed to be over conducting and besides himself. Hi was really too active which and should. Tone it down
Was difficult to watch. But the young lady sand as angels in heaven must do. She performed magnificently ,and I look forward to hear on her beautiful voice soon.

Nice voice. I am not sure of the intention of how the voice should support Dvoraks composition. The technique of singing is to much backwards, almost swallowing the sound. Is it an expression of a sad mood? I don’t know.

You mean changing the grace notes into 16th note triplets (slower)? Maybe so. I've seen it notated both ways.
