Jimmy was a great player but the games changed quick. He couldn't get away with sloppy safe shots and silly misses he used to get away with were getting punished hard and the game improved.
Jimmy's major problem was his positional play according to me.. While Ronnie makes Snooker look so easy,Jimmy makes every shot look so hard because of bad position
Jimmy turned 40 that year. Ronnie just won his 6th title at age 44. Just based on looks alone, I would have guessed Jimmy is 50 here. And he was already way past his prime here. It's remarkable what Ronnie is doing at age 44 now.
O Sullivan keeps healthy and don’t play every tournament, he has rest bytes, so it helps I think, tbh if he keeps the same and healthy, a world championship at 50 is not off the cards.
I would say that Jimmy white was the best over all player of his day 'bar none although he didn't win a world champion he was bloody close 'I just forgot how many world champion s he was in a reached the final 'so that just proves he was a number one player
JendrixHimi don’t think so buddy, Ronnie still playing and winning tournaments at the age of 44!!. what was hendry winning from 38+ till he’s retirement, what was it losing to maguire by like 10 frames in the world championship in 2012😂😂.
1:03:24 What the.... ONLY Ronnie O'Sullivan could play a shot of this excellence. Poor Jimmy, but nice of him to smile like that (then again, if he wasn't smiing he would probably be crying internally at this point) when he was well on the process of being whitewashed. Did well on the last frame.
Fujiwara Sai Yes Jimmy is probably only second to Ronnie on natural ability and there have definitely been moments of genius in Jimmy's career. He got stuffed here though.
With the league format, they would play all 8 frames. Can’t remember the amount but they would win either £1,000 or £2,000 per frame won so it would be a good night if you whitewashed your opponent. I think there were bonuses for centuries as well.
@Dr_Doctor Good standard during a mediocre era (Davis apart can't think of a single player from the 80s who could cut it with today's lot). Owned by Hendry in the 90s.
@@SnookerFan-kl1jj Today’s lol. Davis had 3 centuries in a row in a match which is rare enough in 2days game. He could only play what was put in front of him and he did that. The standard is definitely higher 2day but not miles higher. Also there was only a handful of pros then so the standard wasn’t being pushed.
Cocaine, crack cocaine, alcoholism, excessive touring. It’s a miracle the man could play as well as he did at all, none of them are good things but it shows he truly had a natural gift and probably could have won three or four world championships had he just disciplined himself. It was still nice to see him win the seniors at the crucible.
At the moment this is the only footage I have of the UK Championship of 1994. Please don't forget these matches are now very old and as I was a kid back then some things have been lost.

Of course it has. Even the players now have to maintain to high standards. That's because they want to try and win a frame in one visit.
Not true. Game peaked around turn of century and white was still a force then.
History shows how close the games where with Jimmy White and Stephen Henry in the world titles.
What entertainment this man gives.

Yeah that sums up his career. His shot selection especially under pressure could be suspect as well. Talented but undisciplined tbh.
@@SnookerFan-kl1jj right
He was always sloppy.
Aye 10 ranking titles 300+ career tons etc...catch yourselves on
Yeah that’s true the same of Alex Higgins if you watch his matches it’s like he didn’t think of anything apart from the pot!

And worryingly hasn’t won a final since.
@@johnmc3862 You can stop worrying now.
@@johnmc3862 Well, this doesn´t aged well :D.
Ronnie has 7 world titles now, is winner of Honkong Masters 2022 and Champion of Champions 2022.
He may be a bit of a prat but there is something very special about watching Ronnie play, Just beautiful.play .
To be fair to him though, his prattishness has done more for snooker than almost anyone else.

Островной шимпанзе твой Джимми, бездарный олух
Miss thosew days
Mansfield Leisure Centre got demolished and is now a Tesco
Every little helps
Preston guild Hall closed for years now too, the home of the UK championship. Such a shame, the 80s, glory years for snooker.
I'd like to ask for more 90s'stephen Hendry video, these matches of him are so rare😣
You see Hendry in the 90's then you realise who the greatest player ever to hold a cue is !

Imagine retiring losing to Stephen Maguire of all players😂
That Umpiress was such a sort, always used to watch any match she was officiating.

It was clearly a fluke
When he smiled he was thinking "That's ma boy".

@Dr_Doctor Nearly 2 decades? Hendry played brilliant snooker but only for just over a decade.
