I used to have crippling social anxiety about 10 years ago. And my therapist at the time gave me a piece of advice that was monumentally helpful for me: If you feel like you don't know what to say, pretend like you're interviewing the other person. Ask them questions about themselves because: A) People love talking about themselves (easy win!) B) Even if you're not that funny or confident or whatever, asking people about themselves shows that you care and that goes a long way C) The other person will likely enrich the convo with their answers so the chances of connecting on certain topics/interests goes way up I learned that it can be enjoyable to lean into my own natural curiosity and discover new things about people by initiating. It's kind of strategic too, figuring out which questions to ask. Focusing on what I wanted to ask forced me to stop obsessing over how I thought other people perceived me. Anyways, LOVE those mics, and thanks for all of the tingles over the years! Ps. Take us on another nature walk? Snälla du! They're my fav :D
Thank you for this advice! I can totally relate to this. When I feel socially anxious, I think the problem is that I’m afraid that the other person(s) will judge me for what I’m saying and think I’m boring/stupid/bad/mean/selfish etc. I’m so totally focused on myself and almost can’t hear what other people tell me. To shift focus is definitely the key. Stop try to find interesting things and comments about yourself and your experiences, always trying to make you appear better (than you think that you are 😅) and focus, be curious about other people! Because other people are actually interesting if you listen to them! They inspire you and enrich your life if you let them to. 😊
Glad you like the mics! And i’m glad to hear you enjoy the nature walks. I haven’t though about doing those for quite some time now.. but I do have 1 or 2 old ones recorded that I haven’t uploaded yet. Maybe I’ll go back to those and finish those videos 😊
@@ASMRctica Exakt! And I relate to feeling those negative emotions about myself too. They don't fully go away, (which I think is kinda good because it keeps you real with yourself!) but the personal take-downs become less straight-up brutal. That's another thing I learned: You're never going to be perfect in everyone's eyes so you should embrace ALL the facets of yourself. Even the “boring/stupid/bad/mean/selfish” ones! That stuff just makes you a normal human. I used to lose sleep over fear of other people's opinions of me. But they don't eat at me like they used to. In my case, I had several situations with very difficult people where I just naturally developed thicker skin over time. I hope that’s not the only way to get over the fear of being judged/disliked, but it’s kind of like phobia exposure therapy I guess? Once you accept that some people are just not going to like you no matter what, it becomes clear that: A) It’s not that bad. Haha, now you know and can focus on being around people you get along with. B) It’s not really about you. They’re probably just going through a hard time. Or maybe you’re just not a good social match for each other and that’s okay too. Wow, I did not mean to write this long of a comment but there you go! 😬😅

He's never done a true face reveal but has never been shy to show his face outside of this channel, he's had some behind the scenes things and interviews about asmr that he has talked about and has linked to in his descriptions.
So from my perspective you have one of the best voices for asmr but not only that you are real and keep your self humble yet strive to be better and better and are constantly doing your best to improve for yourself first then for others. Thats like the "text book" way I guess could it, of healthy growth. You'r mistakes don't define you but how you chose to learn from them.and move forward does. So the cringe feeling that you feel looking back.of things you've done in old videos or in the ones you currently make is natural and healthy if you can grow from and don't let it overwhelm you. So I say all that to say you are doing an awesome job. Have a happy new year!

I am a teenager with ocd, adhd and anxiety. I live in New York City and we have practically gone back into lockdown. My school along with every other one in the city is closed right now and I have a very hard time falling asleep but these videos help me so much! thank you :)
Jay, love to see the new camera angles and mic setup. Its been really great to see another side of you through this and through some of the coverage I've seen that you linked. I think it really adds another dimension to your content when people can see a window into another part of who you are as a content creator and as a human being. I think we share the love of nature and travelling, and in a way I think its the sounds of nature and of beautiful places that ultimately drew me to ASMR. Experiencing those moments is almost the same bliss of a great ASMR. Especially alone in nature hearing the delicate sounds surround you. I also want to say this past year you were such an incredibly supportive person for my channel and it really gave me the energy to keep making content. Its so uplifting to get kind words from one of your ASMR inspirations. I have seen you supporting so many other smaller creators in the ASMR community and its truly a positive and wonderful thing to see. Thanks for all of that, and for sharing your experiences outside of just a relaxing ASMR voice....but that too. Peace and love into the next year Jay. @@ASMRctica There is a huge ASMR community on Twitter and everyone is extremely supportive and non-judgemental. It's a nice way to chat a little with channels of all sizes and not feel so isolated. You are so sweet, you deserve true happiness.😊
Hey! Just wanted to say thanks for your fantastic work!! I'm very excited to listen to this video, I've loved your past rambles! It always feels like chatting to a friend, which I guess it is!I hope you're doing well, lots of love 💜 x
Happy holidays and hope you continue to stay safe during these difficult times.
Thanks Nathan for the lovely comment! So nice to hear from you 😊 Super valuable for me to hear your feedback. Keep up the great work with the channel, i’m so happy to be able to help. Happy holidays! 🎄

It’s really nice to hear you’re progressing and moving forward with your life.
I’m about a year behind you, I suffer from many of the same problems and this year has made it a lot worse, being in Manchester, UK, we’ve been in lockdown and severe “tiers” for most of this pandemic, living and working on my own is tough enough but it’s really knocked me back.
Listening to how you’re dealing with things and moving forward is really inspiring.
Keep up the good work 👍
That’s fantastic! So glad to be able to inspire you with this video. I can imagine it must be tough being in lockdown and spend a lot of time on your own. Hope it gets better very soon. Take care, be well 👍

Great channel. Keep on taking those baby steps - you're doing just fine.
Hello! I still enjoy your ramble videos! I find them so related to the things that happen in my life. I'm still in the process that you mentioned about being able to talk more to people. Writing a comment for the first time after following you for a long time, is a prove! Thanks for all that you do. P.S. my cat also likes to hear your voice haha she lies down next to me and looks at the screen very calmly and starts purring, she's also a fan.
Wow it's so cool that your cat pays attention / reacts to my videos! What a nice compliment! And i'm so happy to hear your supportive words and feedback too. Thanks for deciding to write a comment, it really means a lot to me. And motivates me a lot to keep posting content like this.
Take care!
@@ASMRctica I'm so happy to hear from you! Thanks to you, I will try to leave a honest comment every possible time haha. I wish you could see her! (Yoko, my cat) his beautiful face and his big eyes looking at the screen.
See you around! 🤗
