    Hi WOT, how do you create the falling icon with the tumbs up and ringing bell sound etc

    • @WOTBoxTV
      @WOTBoxTV  4 года назад +1

      Hey Paul, the thumbs up was something I found on a google search, then modified it in GIMP, the animation was made/edited/animated in OpenShot and the bell sound came from RUclips freebie sounds library...

    Hello Paul (WOT), thanks for all your tutorials which I have been following with interest. Nice job, keep it up!
    There is one important thing that has been left out by the developer - the ICON SIZE. It is very sad that no matter how you adjust the height of the icon on the row with Sideload Channel 2, you see no corresponding change on the Nvidia Shied Home Screen. Why? Let me further explain myself...
    Right at the top of the Nvidia Shield Home Screen, all the installed applications go under the ROW called "Apps". We should take note that the magnification of icons under this "Apps" row when you scroll through them is way less than the magnification of all the icons below them. If I am not mistaken, the size of these icons under "Apps" on Nvidia Home Screen is equivalent to the "Tile height = 120" when you "Edit Row" on Sideload Channel 2. I think that the reason why Nvida keeps the icons under "Apps" smaller is because they are not meant for publicity and if you are going to install more than 100 apps, it good to keep the icons smaller to that level.
    I like the icon size as it is on the "Apps" row on the Nvidia Home Screen. So why on earth that "Tile height" = 120" adjusted on Sideload Channel 2 does not give the same result on the Nvidia Shield Home Screen? The magnification is so big and unnecessary to the point that you begin to see the poor resolution quality of the icons. What can we do so that the magnification of tiles are exactly the same as the ones under the "App" row of the Nvidia Home Screen?
    Thank you.

      Many thanks for your kind words, much appreciated. I also note that you have an issue with the interactivity of the SIdeload Channell Launcher and the Shield Home screen. Before going into that, I'd suggest that this is not an issue "created" by the developer and is, in fact, an issue stemming from the ATV (Android Tv) launcher, as used on the Nvidia Shield TV home screen.
      Yes, the top row (favourites) on the Shield Home screen next to the red "Apps" button are always smaller than the rows below. That's standard for all Android TV home screens (be it Nvidia Shield TV, MeCool KM3, Xiaomi MiBox and several makes of TV that use the Android TV OS.
      The rows below are also always displayed at a "standard" ATV size, whether they be a RUclips row/channel, Netflix, or even Sideload Channel Launcher 2 row.. To be clear, this sizing is done by Android TV and any sizing you configure for display in the Sideload Channel Launcher are ignored - This is not "caused" by the Sideload Channel Launcher app, but controlled 100% by the Android TV launcher... There is NO WAY to make the Sideload Channel Laucher 2 tiles to display as smaller on the Shield home screen.....
      However, THE SOLUTION to the issue of poor resolution you are experiencing is to approach the tiles setup differently.. When making tiles, I always recommend making them large. I usually make my tiles at 960x540 (or sometimes 480x270) for rectangular tiles and 512x512 for square tiles. This way no resolution will be lost and you definitely won't see poor quality tiles. Also, if using icons, be sure to use the apps included icons that come with the app (rather than unsupported icon packs that are intended for smaller phone screens)
      i hope this helps, why not join our Facebook groups, we have one that is 100% dedicated to this great launcher, with many skilled users willing to help out with all kinds of issues. Link in the description.

      @@WOTBoxTV Thanks for your quick reply, your advice and also for inviting me to join your Facebook group to learn more on this interesting launcher.
      I quite understand all what you have said; the size on the home screen is standard and controlled by Android TV. In spite of that, I strongly believe that the developers of Sideload launcher 2 have good brains to do a workaround on this important size issue in order to make the app perfect and unbeatable in the market because they have already done the most difficult job to create and improve the sideload launcher 2. If they study carefully the format or framework of the Android TV Favourite Apps Row, they can make it possible for us to create more rows that go beneath the Android TV Favourite Apps Row which should be of the same as by default.
      There are many reasons why the small size of tiles and many more rows of favourites are very important: my user apps are 40 and this will increase because my interests are TV apps and application tools to resolve problems, and for those who play games, they should have much more apps than I have. So, only one row of favourite channels to hold up to 70 apps or more will be so boring to scroll through sideways, looking for a particular app to use frequently. All the apps below the favourite channels are for publicity to catch customers' attention and money making, and that is why they have made them so large.
      About the poor resolution of icons we create, I would like to tell you that I always choose the rectangular ones as you show us in your videoss.
      Thanks.

      @@sunnya.836 Thanks for your comments.
      Regarding the SCL2 tiles display on the Android TV Home screen I hear you. I'd suggest that you get in touch with the developer directly via the app details in the Paly Store.
      On the resolution point. I think you may have misunderstood. The size of the original tiles and the size they are displayed at are two very separate things. If the original tiles are not of sufficient size in temrs ofpixels x pixels (resolution), then they will always be blurry/poor quality if expanded to a larger size.

      @@WOTBoxTV Hello Paul, thanks again for your recommendations. I will definitely get in contact with the developer to give my opinion. Meanwhile, I have found a way to install all my applications directly to the Favourite Channel Drawer under "Apps" or "Games".
      As regards the quality/size of the icons, I quite understood what you said. In your previous reply you said: "I usually make my tiles at 960x540 (or sometimes 480x270) for rectangular tiles and 512x512 for square tiles. This way no resolution will be lost and you definitely won't see poor quality tiles. Also, if using icons, be sure to use the apps included icons that come with the app (rather than unsupported icon packs that are intended for smaller phone screens)" I followed the instructions of one of your previous videos where the icons I used are the ones already programmed by SLC2. The only reason why I might be confused is that I have not asked you the following questions:
      What app(s) did you use to make your rectangular tiles? How do you upload them, and is there any video tutorial for this? Thanks.

Next I'd go to system seetings---device preferences---accessibility and check to see if Sideload CHannel launcher 2 is in there. If so, enable.If you still have the problem, clear cache and data, uninstall and reinstall from the Play Store (you won't have to pay again) - and you won't lose any saved lyouts as they are in a separate folder on your Shield. WOT Time I actually found a way that works. Granted I needed the pc to do it, but it worked. I even factory reset my shield, wiped and re mounted my thumb drive, and did everything as a fresh install. Using analiti still didn’t work for me. File Commander and my pc did the job though. I won’t be needing that fire stick after all. But I did subscribe to the guy that pointed me into the direction that worked for me.

      @WOTBoxTV  4 года назад

      @@OMAOILRIAN Yes, there are indeed several methods for getting Chrome and filelinked onto the Shield, the Analiti method as well as the Troypoint Downloader methods amongst them (there are other ways to WITHOUT using PCs, thumbdrives etc) work well on both 8.0.2 and 8.1.1.
      That aside, glad to hear you've sorted it out.
