I love to see her hands passionately dancing and zapateando on the keyboard like flamenco dancers. What a Master of the keyboard. What a great pianist! Bravo Maestra Alicia!!!
It really is Spanish & French music of the very early 20 century succeeds where the Poles ,Russians couldn't .Scriabin -era harmonies without the pathology and nervosity sexualized into light and shade music . Myra Hess even recorded it . There is a lot of film of ADL . One shows her with that other little woman who played the bigmen's repertoire Gina Bachauer ! Her Chopin Barcarolle and op.22 unbelievable at one sitting on another t.v. show !
I guess master Willard, as many classical guitarists, considers Alicia de Larrocha a reference and an inspiration for the Albéniz and Granados repertoire usually transcribed/arranged for guitar that sounds so lovely on the 6 stringed instrument. Recently, I heard an interview where master Barrueco stated that somehow he considered himself a disciple of de Larrocha, regarding Spanish music, because of all what he learned listening to her recordings. Like master Willard, I also thank you for posting this great video
Cómo lo has llegado a encontrar?
+pianopera No, no!!!!
@@louiseforandsamson9912 I said hands, but we can all see how different they are...ut the technique is the same...One just needs to see Alicia playing Navarra to realize that immediatelly! They both play with enormous support from the back, without letting almost any weight down... and the fingers work!
THE ONE AND ONLY DE LARROCHA. NO ONE BEFORE OR SINCE CAN TOUCH THIS REPERTOIRE AS SHE DID!
I saw her in a concert when I was 10. 1997. Chicago. I got to meet her back stage afterwards. I still have her CD from that year!
I love to see her hands passionately dancing and zapateando on the keyboard like flamenco dancers. What a Master of the keyboard. What a great pianist! Bravo Maestra Alicia!!!
She was one of the few pianists who would receive a standing ovation before she even played a note.
Always that total concentration en impeccable technique! OMG! I was eleven when she played this concert...Time flies.
She did that slight wiggle with the head whenever a triplet showed up. A great pianist.
Bravissima interprete di questo repertorio!
Navarra is very difficult 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

One of the greatest, .... What a gem!!!
She was incomparable in this repertoire. Thrilling piano playing!
THIS REPERTOIRE AND THE REST AS WELL... JUST LISTEN TO THE GEM THAT IS HER RONDÓ CAPRICIOSO, FOR INSTÃNCE...
Agree...just superb...no one can touch her in this music...
Agreed, but please for reference listen to Rubinstein in the 40s with this work.
@@paularnold9009She is much more subtle, delicate, musically fluid and with better dynamic range than Rubinstein for most of her repertoire
Unbelievable !! Such a legend
Her playing is above all controlled, yet it is also warm, with a radiant, jewel-like tone quality.
so, so beautiful.....
Wow - thanks for sharing! A real treasure. Alicia de Larrocha is just about unsurpassed in playing this repertoire.
THIS REPERTOIRE AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING, REALLY... JUST LISTEN TO THE GEM OF HER RONDÓ CAPRICIOSO!
I love her technique of "snatching" the notes allowing a crisp and crystal clear tone no matter how dense the textures get!
The paradoxical benefit of having small hands, leading to more graceful and fluid piano playing :)
extraordinaria alicia de larrocha ...
Some great vintage film footage here - thanks!
Increible
My goodness, she's fantastic! Thank you!
I would like to know the name of the last piece .

Thank you for posting! It's by far the best videography of Alicia de Larrocha in youtube :)
Visually yes, but Castilla is better in the 1972 UK live because of the rubato

Beautiful ! Happy New Year !
Gran pianista. Grabó varios de Sonatas de Mozart.
Preciós
Is it possible to get this on DVD or something like that?

INTERESTING TO NOTICE HOW MUCH HER HANDS, AT THIS AGE, LOOK SIMILAR TO MARTA ARGERICH'S!
No… I know them both and their hands are very different… they are and we’re both my friends
