I saw her in a concert when I was 10. 1997. Chicago. I got to meet her back stage afterwards. I still have her CD from that year!

I love to see her hands passionately dancing and zapateando on the keyboard like flamenco dancers. What a Master of the keyboard. What a great pianist! Bravo Maestra Alicia!!!

She was one of the few pianists who would receive a standing ovation before she even played a note.

She did that slight wiggle with the head whenever a triplet showed up. A great pianist.

Quejas , O la Maja y el ruisenor is a treat ! It really is Spanish & French music of the very early 20 century succeeds where the Poles ,Russians couldn't .Scriabin -era harmonies without the pathology and nervosity sexualized into light and shade music . Myra Hess even recorded it . There is a lot of film of ADL . One shows her with that other little woman who played the bigmen's repertoire Gina Bachauer ! Her Chopin Barcarolle and op.22 unbelievable at one sitting on another t.v. show !

I guess master Willard, as many classical guitarists, considers Alicia de Larrocha a reference and an inspiration for the Albéniz and Granados repertoire usually transcribed/arranged for guitar that sounds so lovely on the 6 stringed instrument. Recently, I heard an interview where master Barrueco stated that somehow he considered himself a disciple of de Larrocha, regarding Spanish music, because of all what he learned listening to her recordings. Like master Willard, I also thank you for posting this great video

@@louiseforandsamson9912 I said hands, but we can all see how different they are...ut the technique is the same...One just needs to see Alicia playing Navarra to realize that immediatelly! They both play with enormous support from the back, without letting almost any weight down... and the fingers work!
