Stupid first hole boned him good. Once I saw him out of it I told my buddy he’d storm back and finish 2 back and 4th overall so was so close. Pissed he couldn’t pull it out but Gannon did shoot fire at the end atleast to earn it. This year is gonna be wild on all 3 round tourneys
He's so hilarious to watch - goes OB on a decent drive, goes ob again on an amazing effort to save par - still slams the comeback completely unphased and looks like he's about to fall asleep
What makes Calvin awesome, he’s kind and respectful, his humour is epic, he’s a crazy awesome and consistent player in all aspects, his drives, his approach and especially putts, but mostly, due to his composure on the course, as he is so humble, never shows his stresses and just overall plays the game like a pro should. :) way to go Calvin. All the best for the 2023 season!
Not only does he not show signs of stress, he doesn't show anything at all. You legit can't tell from his facial expressions whether he just scored an eagle or a tripple bogey.
What a comeback from Simon and after some tough breaks in round 2. Can’t wait to see more of this season that has already delivered some great coverage.
I know there was some talk about this course not “looking good on camera” but I really liked it. I hope they keep this event as it was very interesting play!
Totally agreed. Makes an already tight field even tighter! Some very interesting lines and shot shapes you never see elsewhere so I’m looking forward to this event maturing and progressing
Wow. When Cole Redalen smoked the tourney I played with him 4 years ago, at 14, I had a feeling I'd see him here soon enough. WTG Cole, can't wait to watch you this season, Good Luck!
2:33 “six feet from the edge and I’m thinking” sounds like Nate has been listening to One Last Breath by Creed recently. Jerm definitely had the same thought as me🤣
We saw the leaderboard before hole 16 - I wish we woulda heard some insight on what they'd want to see as far as strategy from each guy approaching that hole knowing you had Buhr and Simon on the course with those scores.
When Nate said, “And just to get it out of the way, we’ll take pink.” I couldn’t stop laughing. That’s exactly what I was thinking when he mentioned different colored whiskers. 😂
Uli dropping knowledge on the mic at the end there, and it was such a smooth ending from the commentary trio.. unmatched, what PP coverage is all about.
Feels odd to me that the live leaderboard has been the new thing this season, but Gannon's score was not mentioned until before the 18th tee. We lost a lot of context for the players' mindsets. Calvin knew he had to throw in for eagle on 17. After the disc left his hand he said, "That's not in the basket." Granted it is an oddity with chase card winners these past two weeks, but I only see this becoming more common over time as the field becomes more talented.
Agreed. If they are going to do live scoreboard check ins, chase card check ins or at least commentary on where the field is at would be lovely. Poor commentators are getting worked too hard and don’t have time to really put out their best work. Lots of love to bigsexybarri for what they do for us though!
I think it was a missed opportunity not to keep the viewers updated on the status of the other cards. Knowing the sense or urgency the lead card needs to catch up would be very beneficial as a viewer.
Total agree!!!! Calvin's eagle bid on 17 to tie the tourny was not even noticed. It was the most dramatic and unlikely throw of the day. Everyone else is scrambling for par! He missed it by a foot!
I think James proctor is on track for a breakthrough season. He has been in contention for 3 consecutive tournaments now, and I hope to see him keep that up. Of course Calvin, Ganon, Eagle, the old favorites and now Cole are going to be there too, but this season is already my favorite to watch. Thanks Jomez!
He totally has the tools to put it together. I’ve been seeing his name high up in the leaderboard for a good while, very glad to see him putting it together and grabbing top finishes at a number of events. Man can that guy whip a disc
@Ablinkon time I didn't say debut. He's been on lead card for 3 elite series in a row. That's a breakthrough for anyone, no matter how long they've been playing. Especially considering he's not been a consistent contender at elite series for any of the three years I've been watching. Context matters, not just years they've been in the game. We're all just watching plastic circle throwers, and i'm happy to see he's throwing well. There's no reason for you to come in with bad vibes to argue semantics.
What a round, what a competition, what absolutely stunning and hilarious commentary!!! I’m praying Jomez can pick up live streaming or day of releases in the future. This is what Disc Golf coverage should be!!!
I personally really really liked this course from the start. one of the very best and pro challenging designs on tour especially for this being the debut of the course. some small adjustments here and there and its definitely elite.
I’m in the UK, enjoyed the tour on Jomez for years now. Feels like we’re hitting a golden age of interest in the sport and insanely talented young players. Exciting!
I think the course is great. Nice mixture of wooded and open field shots with looming hazards and OB. It can be very difficult in high winds but leaves a lot of potential to go low in calm conditions. It definitely forces most players to be smart and conservative about distance, but mostly having touch with control. I’d hope to see this course again in the cute with maybe some fixed tee boxes or new pin placements. Congrsts to the top finishers!!
You go Vinny!!! Hate to see the bad breaks, but when Vin has a bad hole he steps up to the next box and always lays down a smash. He has to have one of the best bounce backs out there. His game is all around sick!!!
Love where disc golf is right now! So fun to watch and the coverage is great on all the platforms now. Jomez still my fav tho😉 Watching BigSexy commentary is the reason i put my clubs away and tried disc golf. Thank you!
Where was your shield last night when I went on Udisc to check the standings and the first thing I saw was Gannon Buhr won!???🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🙄🙄 Thanks for nothing! 😠
Commentary humor is on point. Lol'd at the hole 12 intro after the "we have a lot of experience" rant - "hole 4, par 12 - wait help us Nate" and hole 13 Uli: set the sails to get that ship... truckin Jerm: yeah whatever it is Nate: Right the ship. Jerm and Uli: ...nah that's not it
Looks like Uli is close to falling asleep at the end. Kudos for playing and then doing commentary. T hat's devotion and true love for this amazing sport.
And that positive approach is why Gannon pulled this out. From a spectator's point-of-view this course was actually pretty amazing, despite how it may have translated onto coverage. I'm glad Gannon won this one, and his attitude is what gave him the edge.
Cole is going to be scary once he gets some tour stank on him. This seems like an event that will be all over the place weather wise every year, and that makes for some really wild back and forth scoring. What a final 18. Oh, and nice W for Gannon! I had to chuckle thinking about all the Prodigy hate and between him and Mäkelä they sure are making some noise.
Yes Vinny is back, baybay!! I remember the first time I was awed by him a few years ago, his 40-80' putts were off the hook he was banging all of them. And then the past few years of course his putting is incredible but never quite what it was his first breakout year - though the rest of his game was getting so freaking good that he was still a top 3 player IMO - but this was the first tournament where it felt like he's back to that old school count-it-in-from-anywhere throwing-laser-beams-from-75-feet essence. If he wasn't scary enough already y'all better watch out cause Calvin is going to take home a ton of trophies this year!!
What's funny is that I think Gannon Buhr and Calvin both has similar abilities to shake off any kind of bad luck or hardship along with owning a sharp version of every tool in the bag.
I defiantly think Calvin maintains the most even mental state to keep a sharp focus throughout the tournament. I think a lot of players could learn from him and get into that same flow state. Shrugging off the bad and sticking to the routine.
Considering it's such a tight race, I'd like to see more updates on what the other cards are doing. The screen should always show the current leading score, so viewers understand what the lead card players know. Ball golf coverage always has this. All in all, great coverage (keep it up!) but viewers want to know the status of the tournament overall, not just the lead card as if it's in a vacuum.
I don't think Jomez is cleared to share that knowledge. That is reserved for live coverage on DGN. The other post pro channels have that content on the chase cards and it would be a bad look for Jomez to spoil their round results. I think gatekeeper has the chase card now where you can get that info. Live coverage did a great job of telling the story but post pro is just limited in what it can do.
I used to be able to get in my coverage watching by Sunday night. It's now Tuesday and I'm just finishing up since "Lead card" apparently means nothing to these guys now! Had to swap back and forth hole by hole with Gatekeepers 2nd card. Only wish there was a 3rd to watch Lizotte too.
“Going for fool’s gold and comin’ up with diamonds”… … Jerm, did you come up with that on the fly?!?! … … I guess that’s why you’re paid the big bucks… … So good my friend
Treating it like a live broadcast, in terms of showing live scores instead of relative scores takes away the drama for me. Like, we're not watching it live. We're gonna follow the lead card the whole way regardless of who's actually winning. Why spoil the ending of the event before the end of the video? If we just wanted to know the final scores, we could just look it up. It happened yesterday.
As a Disc golfer that loves uniqueness, I feel like the world needs more Hole 17's! Watching pros scramble and struggle so much on a hole makes me happy, as my home course causes you to struggle often. Thanks for that!
I am happy for Calvin. It was always my impression that he is the number one in the terms of sheer ability and skill, but can not hold a whole tournament together mentally. One bad break, one unlucky bogey could ruin his performance for the day, costing him tournaments. The fact that he fucked up the very first shot very badly, and played a superb round after it shows that this is no longer a problem.
What a round by Calvin! He's gotta be one of the most consistent players. Completely unfazed by his disastrous start to the day.
So tough to not let early mistakes/ misfortune get to you. Calvin is my fav for many reasons.
Once you’re out of it, it’s easy to play loose. But I agree that Calvin isn’t fazed by much.

Calvin with 3 straight podium finishes. He is going to have an amazing year.
What a comeback from Simon and after some tough breaks in round 2. Can’t wait to see more of this season that has already delivered some great coverage.
Looks like the new discs are shinin for Simon.
I'm sure we will see Simon get first this season.
Nate: "Right the ship."
Paul: "That's not it."
Jerm: "That's not it."
Me: "My head hurts."
Their course was not on ship.
Jomez needs more leaderboard checkins and more chase card footage with these tight scores
I know there was some talk about this course not “looking good on camera” but I really liked it. I hope they keep this event as it was very interesting play!

I wish Jerm would have jumped in with a “…May-Yur six feeee ain’t-ah Soh-Farh Downnah!!”
I wasnt sure if I was the only one that caught that. It was such a smooth transition. 😂😂

Super stoked for Uli’s coaching program too!

Nice, Jerm. I caught it.
I was waiting to see if he would explain it since the other two didn't respond
