Well I have some good news for you I am going to be cutting rings tonight on an MZR build... may take a couple days to get the video up but it will be up soon!I will also be going through a few other things on this new build like how to install your rings on your pistons and I will be going through a head build and how to set the valve lash.
Oddball Kevin hell yes man!!! I will be building my first motor and the info you have given so far is hands down the most informative and educational. Thanks again man
I tighten the cams gears first , before I released the timing chain tensioner . What’s ur opinion on that . I don’t want to remove the timing cover again
Im doing a 2.0 fst and im totally confused. I didnt loosen the vvt solenoids on both the cams when i disassembled but i marked the cams and chain. Im swapping out the bottom end but i have no idea what im doing as far as how to time the engine. Any help?
Hi! Do u know what's the cause timing jerk during idle after skim head? Is it coz of skim head? Or timing chain installation? Engine mzr LF 2.0 (1coil) NA, mazda 6 GG 2.0 2005 auto
Hey Oddball Keven, great videos thankyou. I ordered myself a timing cover gasket from Cometic because my engine is in the car still and this gasket will make my life much easier. What exactly did you put on the cover to get the gasket to stick, i believe you called it dressing?
How hard is it to do this with the engine in the car? I need to take off the head this weekend and fix what I believe to be a busted exhaust valve.. also, to get the head off, does the turbo and downpipe need to be removed or can I just unbolt the exhaust manifold bolts and slide the head out? Awesome videos!
@@naumangelkovski5979 hey Naum. Great news, you absolutely can leave the exhaust manifold attached to the head. Unbolt it from the turbo and lift it all off as one unit. Way easier than removing the downpipe and turbo. But here's the one issue with this!- the turbo oil line is bolted to the back of the head.. (me and a friend we're lifting and didn't know this and could feel the head was stuck on something) You (and preferably a friend) need to carefully lift the head and manifold and tilt it to where you can fit your right arm around the head (come in from the drivers side) and remove that bolt. It's a steel line, so it won't flex, so be very careful. Once you get the head off, removing the manifold is a cake walk. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
What do you mean by the oil pump sprocket being by keyed? Also, was that bar looking thing you slid on to the crankshaft? My 06 ms6 didnt have that, and my sprockets dont have slots. Also, I didn't see you put friction washers on? Great videos though!
I do think it is a good idea to pin the cams. It may be little unneeded until you get into really high horsepower. I've seen many cars without pinned cams and they have been totally fine.
Alex Medina assuming you have the cam plate out, the only reason that would happen would be from not being timed correctly so the valves are hitting the Pistons as you try to spin the engine
Marc Belec other oil pump? You mean the balance shaft? That big hunk of shit that bolts on to the bottom of the block that does nothing but add rotating mass? Ya I get rid of those... less rotating mass and more oil capacity in the pan once it’s gone
@@hockeynube11 sorry dudr im still lesrning !! So i can actually just not put it ?? Dude can i havr ur email or something? Im on my way to the garage right noe to rip apart the block , just incase later on down the road i have questions
Marc Belec you have to put a balance shaft delete kit it’s basically a plug that is meant to block the oil feed hole for the balance shaft, just google balance shaft delete mazdaspeed and you should get squared away... look up our Facebook page and you can message us there.
@@hockeynube11 hey dude i knownim probly annoying but ive looked everywher and cant seem to find the specs for all the clearences and stuff , is it possible u can show me wher to find it !? For bearing and thrust and even piston ring clearence ! It wuld be much appreciated thanks dude !

You didnt use the tool to lock the crank before initial tightening of crank and you didnt torque the oil pump bolts and you should of tightened the 13 mm bolts on the cover first because it's a higher torque lol
Have you ever had any issues with the cam timing tool? I am currently doing a build and it seems as though the cam timing tool is to thick or the exhaust cam is set to far into the head and the timing tool will not fit. This issue has been a real set back so any thoughts or info would be much appreciated.
i cant believe my dealer charged me close to thousand dollars to do what took you 15 minutes? well that was years ago but unfortunately its at it again with the VVT
i have literally watched these few videos like 10-15 times, make more please!!!!!
i hope your using new friction washers behind the cam sprocket and VVT ?
Where did you get keyed crank and gears and gasket?
please make more videos! these are great. would like to see the rings cut and the stuff you didn't have to do done...

@@hockeynube11 what happened with this video? I'd like to see it.
In order to torque the balancer, do you need to hold it from moving ?
I tighten the cams gears first , before I released the timing chain tensioner . What’s ur opinion on that . I don’t want to remove the timing cover again
Do you have a video that shows the slip fit front pulley and how to keep it in line with all the other timing.
Did you not have to place in the friction washers behind the crank pulley ?
Newter597 no because the crank is keyed, washers are no longer required after the crank is keyed
Do you have to time the oil pump gear up or no?
With the gasket from Cometic did you get the center gasket on the cover from then also?
What timing kit is needed for the 2.3 focus rs can’t find kit and would like to know we’re to get that gasket

Did you tight the bolt on oil pump sprocket , you said you will do it later
erny tejeda yeah he did tight it ip but without the torque wrench lol
What year is this engine out of, because my 07 ms3 is alil different. Is this one Keyed Crankshaft?
Timing cover gasket, Yeah! Nice to know they are available. Thanks!
I shoulda watched this earlier, because mines going together with silicone.
Hey I would like one of those gaskets for the front cover???
Factory used three bond silicon
Why didn’t you put the friction washers on crank ?
This is motor from mazda 3 2010 2.0 DISI?

No friction washers?
Nice work
Dumb question but does it matter how the crank pulley is put on

Mr RedHookNinja93 you camshaft is 180* out. Rotating the Camshaft 180 degrees and your timing tool will fit.
You dddnt even show what the timing mark on crankshaft and camshafts
How can it be timed if its not torqued, that is a fundamental Mazda procedure for proper timing

I live near Cleveland, Ohio haha but I do have one of those faces that everyone thinks they know I swear haha

Lol its on an engine stand.. of course it looks easier
It’s a lot harder in the car plus parts are pretty expensive
this process Does not take 15 minutes and when doing a VVT or a timing chain Especially in the car an easy 6-8 hours
You didn’t even show the k shaft marks
