Your writing and narration has improved noticeably since your first video in this series. This era of game history has always been misunderstood and muddied, but is, along with the crash of '83, the most pivotal. You did a fantastic job of providing a concise narrative for such a confusing and lost period. Nice work.
very good series enjoyed it a lot. Although it is only pictures and words I haven't heard the history of video games talked about in such great detail and depth as this series is. Great series and good luck with further video's and series's like this. This has earned you one more sub very very entertaining.
Very educational series. Can't wait for part 6. I can't help but wonder what state video games would be in today if Nintendo and Sony would have made that deal and no Sony PlayStation was ever created
eventually.balancing a full time job and this takes more time... a do appreciate your patience! I have not abandoned this series! this series will finish when i'm at the current gen of consoles ;)
I does have a 3DS...but too bad the only two games I have are old and no one would watch a review on a "launch title" for the 3DS, that time window is gone
these episodes and narration and planning to take forever. But I'm actively working on part 6 and other videos too..3DO and PlayStation will be announced. Maybe Ultra 64..for time constraints. I doubt it. Episode 6 is going to be much shorter than the other episodes because my 30 minutes is too much. My audience retention stats for this series show that most people were bored and switched to something else before the video reached its 30 minute mark...
my 3DS got sent to Nintendo for repairs because it was scratching itself from the bottom bevel and caused indentations on the top screen (typical 3DS issue)... i'll let you know when I get it back. (or a unit in the mail for that matter)
I don't mean to be an a-hole, but these videos should be titled History of Video Game Consoles, since there is little to no approach to the actual video games and seems to focus more on company/console wars. Other than that, great series, hope to see the rest of it :)
Why is pricing such a big deal in this sort of market at the time? I understand that one dollar could get you a lot more than it does now but still, if all these consoles are failing because of pricing, then SOMEONE had to get the idea.
Hey this video is pretty great and interesting even though I didn't think I would be interested.I am looking forward to to next episode!Do you know when it will be out?
are you gonna get up to the making of the xbox one and ps4 when you get their? I know their not fully out yet but by the time you get their in videos its gonna already be out since it took you like three to eight months to do so.
My family had the misfortune of buying a CD-I. The only games we had that I remember being somewhat decent were Pinball and a word puzzle game called Text Tiles. The only reason I haven't pitched the damn thing is because can't resist telling my friends in the RUclips Poop community that I own a Phillips CD-I.
im sorry the first 4 were really great but i think a little more research on your part is needed in regards to the ESRB which is not a Government controlled rating system... the ESRB spawned from action taken by the major players in the video game industry to create an independent software ratings advisory which is separate from government and supported by the gaming industry, best vid reference here would be G4 Icons episode on the ESRB
Amazing microsoft and sony didnt get involved til late in the game but both made it. Nvidia is making a handheld where the graphics are processed on a cloud. I wonder how it will do
+Riff Chick yep! Haha that was me ^ ^ The most definitive answer I can give you was it was from TuneIn Radio and the Station was "OtherSteve's Nintendo Music Radio".. It played after a song eneded like it was a break between. .. I recorded it because I had my iPod Touch with me an it has an option to record and even capture metdata instead of a long mp3 song file. (something the Android app has failed to do so)
as in the words of David Jaffe in response for asking the Twisted Metal PS3 reboot release date. "When it's done :P balancing a full time job and working on it everyday :3
as in the words of game developer, David Jaffe when asked about the previously unannounced Twisted Metal PS3 Reboot: "when it's done" seriously...that's all I can say xD
and they made the CDI ... my uncle had a CDI and it was a decent multimedia device, minidiscs were good, but for philips it was intended to further their disc technology, they were in a direct struggle for cd formats with sony which ended in court forever deciding not CD+r but CD-r would be the format to agree on... Philips then was making big new cd technologies beginning with the laser disc... the CDI was never ment to be a games console and philips didnt give 2 craps about games, but nothing in those times was advertised as "multimedia" Anyway it was a good much to expensive to be a console but was piece of hardware capable of storage formats others couldnt, that it didnt catch on is because people didnt need it. you got the timeline there kinda mixed up...but still, its not that even at that moment anyone could follow it then
ESRB was an excuse to control the video game industry and regulate another item in this dammed by god country. If they actually cared about the youth playing video games..they would be doing everything in their power to rally against under-age children playing mature online video games. And what about the "No Russian" scene in MW2?...where was the caring government then????? My thoughts exactly.
It's a great script, but a poor execution. The music is way too loud and busy for the voice over, which I wouldn't mind if the audio quality was better, but with both, you almost can't even listen to it.
ahh hahah..love back to the future. and Super Back To The Future (SNES) got the theme spot on. too bad it was only released in Japan. Marty is right. Only japan gets the good stuff.
Hell yeah that's fucking awesome a tv with builtin snes, but what i don't like is the abilitie to reset the system via the remote control, just imagine if am far jn progress in a game and someone else will hit the reset on the remote controller, then i would,ve be very pissed off.

The series has improved since then you know..thanks for your support!
I love the game music you select for these! Really brings back memories. I'm really enjoying this.
very good series enjoyed it a lot. Although it is only pictures and words I haven't heard the history of video games talked about in such great detail and depth as this series is. Really well made video, really interesting subject matter and fantastic choice of images.
Very educational series. Can't wait for part 6. I can't help but wonder what state video games would be in today if Nintendo and Sony would have made that deal and no Sony PlayStation was ever created

I have not abandoned this series!
this series will finish when i'm at the current gen of consoles ;)
Part 6 is going to be a while..I worked on part 5 non-stop after part 4...I need a break a little bit XP
Why did you take a Long time to make part 6?
I does have a 3DS...but too bad the only two games I have are old and no one would watch a review on a "launch title" for the 3DS, that time window is gone
Part 6 is coming. and actively being worked on. Not in hiatus :)
balancing a full time job and this does take a wee bit more time = ]
I want Part 6!!" When?
Narration is complete for part 6 since of yesterday!
onto add the visual media :)
part 6 is out! thanks for the support !
PART 6 is up with the first 2 parts of it.
these episodes and narration and planning to take forever. But I'm actively working on part 6 and other videos too..3DO and PlayStation will be announced. Maybe Ultra 64..for time constraints. my 3DS got sent to Nintendo for repairs because it was scratching itself from the bottom bevel and caused indentations on the top screen (typical 3DS issue)...

part 6 is done!
Why is pricing such a big deal in this sort of market at the time? I understand that one dollar could get you a lot more than it does now but still, if all these consoles are failing because of pricing, then SOMEONE had to get the idea.
well thank you! ^_^
these videos take much longer to make than what you think...so please share it with all your nostalgic gaming fans! = D
Hey this video is pretty great and interesting even though I didn't think I would be interested.I am looking forward to to next episode!Do you know when it will be out?
These are the best videos on the subject on all medias, amazing! Also, I wish the PS2 episode exist =/

I had a Game Gear. Only had like three games that I remember liking.

part 6 is up!
are you gonna get up to the making of the xbox one and ps4 when you get their? I know their not fully out yet but by the time you get their in videos its gonna already be out since it took you like three to eight months to do so.
Nicely done!

You really know a lot about video games. Where did you get all this information?
Is this where the Commodores got their name ?
im sorry the first 4 were really great but i think a little more research on your part is needed in regards to the ESRB which is not a Government controlled rating system... the ESRB spawned from action taken by the major players in the video game industry to create an independent software ratings advisory which is separate from government and supported by the gaming industry, best vid reference here would be G4 Icons episode on the ESRB
Turbo Grapx and Sega GG didn't fail that miserably. And if I'm not mistaken, Sega GG had been supported until 1997-98.
Did you use music from golden sun?
that is why this is the HISTORY of video games...and hey..oldies can be goodies.
cant wait till the next history of vid games!
Back to the Future music
awesome review thanks!!
Sophia k
thank *you* = D

1) The first 16 bit console was the Intellivision.
2) The PC Engine was a 8 bit console, it was not true 16 bit
*****
Yes indeed. But it still had a 8 bit CPU, so not truly 16 bit.
wheres episode 6?
Release part 6
not out yet my friend
nice work here
Amazing microsoft and sony didnt get involved til late in the game but both made it.
Nvidia is making a handheld where the graphics are processed on a cloud. I wonder how it will do
Nice.This is a well-done video.
thank you!
What's the opening song called?? (might have asked before) it's hip!
I know right! I heard it on Internet radio but no title was shown unfortunately
omg!!! I think you answered this same answer before! it's an awesome song, I wish I knew the name! oh well, thanks anyway.
Wait, but how did you get the recording of it then? Coudl you send it to me?
+Riff Chick yep! Haha that was me ^ ^

wow. serendipitous. I'll be on the look-out then...
"The VIS wasn't even a video game console!" Xbox One in a nutshell.
btw, REALLY enjoyed your vid man :)
as in the words of David Jaffe in response for asking the Twisted Metal PS3 reboot release date. "When it's done :P
balancing a full time job and working on it everyday :3
Sony tries to put hackers in jail, and have a very crafty lawyer team (how coincidental)
just for Sonys' practices, I like Nintendo.
great info
you are the MAN!
as in the words of game developer, David Jaffe when asked about the previously unannounced Twisted Metal PS3 Reboot:
"when it's done"
seriously...that's all I can say xD
I heard some Turrican music in the background
yeah..Sega and Nintendo and the others that survived that age. (for the time being)
new episode is up!
Please tell me why the game MINDCraft is coming back its so 80's
I did for a duration of this video in some parts...it wasn't fully narrated in a day
and they made the CDI ... my uncle had a CDI and it was a decent multimedia device, minidiscs were good, but for philips it was intended to further their disc technology, they were in a direct struggle for cd formats with sony which ended in court forever deciding not CD+r but CD-r would be the format to agree on...

Anybody remember the movie brainscan?
It's a great script, but a poor execution. The music is way too loud and busy for the voice over, which I wouldn't mind if the audio quality was better, but with both, you almost can't even listen to it.
already did awhile ago.
Thanks!..you're very welcome :D
subscribe if you enjoyed it ^_^
ahh hahah..love back to the future. and Super Back To The Future (SNES) got the theme spot on. too bad it was only released in Japan. Marty is right. Only japan gets the good stuff.

the compact disc is so obsolete only true oldies that want to live in the dark ages where the floppy disc was still popular want to use those.
have u always been a bad ass fan of video games or u just did ur research so could make this video?
